Blurb:
Harper McKinney has decided the time has come to realize her dream of moving to Las Vegas and opening a restaurant. She has been trying to tempt her brother's best friend, Chase Blackshaw into acknowledging their attraction to each other.
Chase has begun moving towards his dreams by opening a construction company, but it seems fraught with issues. Harper's brother has warned Chase away from Harper, when he hears she is moving away, they decide to use the last week she is in River Rock to act on every desire they have had.
My Thoughts:
I had read the first book a few years ago and remembered enjoying it, so was happy to review this installment in the Kinky Spurs series. The chemistry between Chase and Harper started from moment one and never let up. This was a hot read, with amazing emotion at the same time.
I finished it fairly quickly and closed the book feeling very satisfied. I would say that meeting Houdini was one of my favourite parts!
Would be chef Harper McKinney is biding her time in her hometown until the right opportunity comes along. In the meantime, she is bartending at local bar Kinky Spurs, and being watched by her overprotective brother. And one of the things that she has kept secret is her love for his best friend Chase Blackshaw. Chase has finally realized his dream and opened his own construction company. His first project is to get the families cattle ranch ready to open as a guest ranch. Then Hannah lands a dream opportunity, a chance to apprentice with a celebrity chef in Las Vegas. But before she leaves she wants to experience a wild fling with Chase. Kennedy writes such great characters that you feel as if you are in the story right along with them. I really loved this book and cannot wait to read more from Kennedy.
So the Blackshaw men strike again… and they are as kinky as ever. I am a fan of Stacey Kennedy’s work and am really enjoying this newest series, revolving around a family of cattle ranchers and the women that steal their hearts. The second brother Chase has fallen in love with his best friend’s little sister and though he has resisted her for months, ever since he began noticing her as a woman, it has become too much. Harper has been in love with Chase for a long time, or at least in lust with him, but she knows his bro-code won’t allow him to cross that line, even though he is the only guy she’s ever really wanted in their little town. When she finally decides she has put her dreams on hold, waiting for him, long enough, the tables are suddenly turned and Chase is ready to give her everything her heart and body desires. Chase knows that she is leaving in a week and he refuses to stand in the way of her dreams, but he can’t stop himself from taking her before she leaves. Embarking on a fast and passionate affair, Chase and Harper are soon both swept into the maelstrom of their cravings and desires, but it’s the emotional connection that neither of them can deny that leaves them wondering if they have made a mistake. Both begin to question if a week-long affair is enough, or if their future could be something so much more, something a lot more permanent, despite the forces against them and the fears they will have to overcome. Chase was the ultimate gentleman cowboy, sweet and caring in all ways except in the bedroom where he is hot and kinky—and boy did I love every second of seeing that man in action. It is obvious that he has a connection to Harper that scares him, but he refuses to be the determent to her dreams, but at the same time he never holds back those emotions from her, giving her all of himself despite those fears and the trouble he knows it will cause. Harper is a little bit lost, mainly because she has let life pull her along ever since the sudden loss of her parents, never really digging deep to find out what, beyond Chase, she truly wants for herself out of life. I enjoyed watching her grow and find a way to embrace her independence, even though she was afraid that it would cause a rift between Chase and her brother, she isn’t willing to give up Chase without giving them a true chance. I really liked this story, and the sensuality of the passion between Chase and Harper left me a lot warm more often than not, and I could see that heat keeping their relationship deep and fulfilled for a long time to come. I am looking forward to Nash’s story next and I suspect I know who his woman will be and can see the storm that will cause coming a mile away, yee-haw! Another fun and sexy read for sure, Ms. Kennedy.
This book really throws you right into things, since it establishes characters in the first book of the series and barely bothers to reintroduce them in the second. (NOT a bad thing, just also not typical, so head's up.)
I didn't realize this was going to be BDSM kinky (yes, the series title, but that term's overused, so), and happened to have my favorite dynamic for that sort of thing: really sweet Dom and eager-but-uninitiated sub. Except. Erm. Well.
So in books with alphahole Doms when they just jump feet first into kink without talking about, you're like "ugh, alphahole" and drop it and move on, but at least it's not a surprise. In this book, with a character I really really liked, to have him go "you good with LITERALLY ALL OF THIS? yeah? okay, i'm just going to end discussion right there and LET'S GO" was a bit of a slap in the face. It really soured what I thought was going to be delightful, sigh.
Harper McKinney finished culinary school with big dreams. Right now, she’s a bartender at Kinky Spurs. While she’s content with her life, her brother is determined that she make a name for herself, because he wants her far away from what he deems a trashy bar. But Harper refuses to go anywhere. She’s in love with her brother’s best friend, Chase Blackshaw, and that love is keeping her in River Rock. After the death of Chase’s father, he’s the one responsible for running the construction of the Blackshaw Cattle Company’s guest ranch. Back in the day, he had dreams of opening a construction company, but lack of finances kept him working for the family’s cattle ranch. Now with the responsibility of his family’s guest ranch on his shoulders those dreams seem far away. Though he has bigger problems. His build is failing the inspections. Now Chase has more trouble on his hands. Harper, the woman he’s forbidden to ever touch has decided to move to Las Vegas. She isn’t so little anymore, and Chase is finding her all too tempting. She’s also not shy about what she wants. Him. Naked. And giving her some sweet lovin’ in all the kinky ways he craves. But neither Chase nor Harper can anticipate the fate that awaits them if they dare give in to their desires, as Chase soon learns there is something far worse than not being able to live out his dreams. It’s being given the chance to live out his dreams but having to watch Harper lose hers.
This was a pretty good story with plenty of steam and heart. I really loved both Harper and Chase as well as the other characters in the story. This read pretty quickly as I followed them on their journey. I recommend.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
Stacey Kennedy offers readers another Kinky Spurs novel. Sweet Loving Cowboy definitely fits the category! With very likable characters, both primary and secondary, and a fun journey to happily ever after, I recommend this book. It could stand alone, but It reads a little easier as part of the series. Stacey Kennedy writes with passion, and I appreciate that her love scenes help move the story along. The love scenes are plentiful, the chemistry is strong, and the story entertaining. What more could I ask? ..... the next book!!!!
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.
Harper has one dream and that was to be a culinary chef. Before embarking on her new adventure in Las Vegas she wants one last fling with Chase. He desperately tried to stay away from her but the time has come to stack his claim. He had a hard time keeping his promise to his best friend but he has loved Harper from afar from years. Will the week they planned be long enough or will they want something more? Great series
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I read the first book in this series and loved it. I’ve read quite a few of Stacey’s books and they are all amazing stories too. I am the fan of a great romance with a lot of steamy included. Book 2 is Harper and Chase’s story. Harper is Chase’s best friend Body’s sister. They have been very interested in each other for a while. Chase is the middle BlackShaw brother, who is trying to start up a construction company. Harper is planning to leave for a dream job in Las Vegas, opening her own restaurant. They decide to spend the 8 days before she leaves together enjoyingeach other and lots of sex. Her brother Brody doesn’t want them together as he’s afraid she will bail from her dream of moving to Vegas and opening her own restaurant. Chase is trying to get the approval from the inspector so the family can open their guest ranch. The inspector doesn’t approve him twice and he starts t suspect something isn’t right. The brothers go see Clint ho tried to buy the ranch as he might be doing something illegal bu he denies it. Harper begins to question moving away. The book has lots of heat, suspense and angst and I loved it a lot.
With Hard-riding cowboy's release coming, I decided to re-read Sweet-Loving Cowboy and I don't regret that. I might have read like 150 books after this one and 5 months have passed, but I remembered all the important details about the story and that wasn't a bad thing. I liked this re-visiting these characters and their story. All Chase wants is for Harper to have a great life and a career which means that he has to let her go even before he gets her since in 8 days she will be moving to Vegas. Isn't that sad? Chase was sweet and loving and that's why the title fits perfectly for the story. Harper is still figuring a few things out, but she is certain for two things. 1)She belongs in a kitchen (because she is a chef and in her own words, she feels like home there) and 2) she wants Chase and this time she is going to get him. I really liked both of them and they made a perfect couple. Harper's departure is a thorn on their side and the reader is left wondering how they are going to work things out since we all know that they will end up together. If you want to find out once-click the book today! (God, that sounded like an advertisement) I would certainly recommend the book!
Plenty, and I mean PLENTY hot and spicy between Chase and Harper! I love a good sex scene (or 5), but I gotta admit there could have a couple less scenes and more of the storyline itself. Not to say this isn't a good book because it is, but sometimes I'd like more to the couple and their relationship than just the sexy times.
This is book 2 in the Kinky Spurs series and it features Chase and Harper. Phew! These Blackshaw brothers really know what they’re doing. Bring the fire extinguishers because the looks Chase gives Harper are hot enough to set the sheets on fire! There are A LOT of bedrooms scenes in this book and it probably could have done with a few less. I’m not complaining though because this author knows how to write them. The little bit of mystery was great and unexpected. I loved Harper’s relationship with Brody.
This is a great story line with fabulous characters and I can’t wait for book 3.
Harper was always the annoying little sister of Chase's best friend.... until she wasn't. Now she has returned after going to school and is a grown woman. Her dream has always been to open her own place in Vegas. Now she has made a stop back home on her way to her dream. The attraction between Chase and Harper is off the charts. She wants to be with him just as much as he wants to be with her despite her brother being against it. Then he finds out she is leaving for Vegas in 8 days....8 day. That is all the time he has to find out what it would be like to be with the woman of his dreams. They decide to have a friends with benefits arrangement until she leaves. They agreed it was just sex and fun but will Harper be able to walk away from the best thing that has ever happened to her? Great read.
Wonderfully fantastic... The book was amazing... It had a lot of details and juicy scenes to it... The characters and their personalities match them perfectly... The plot and the storyline was very descriptive and amazing...
Second story of Blackshaw brothers.
Chase Blackshaw and Harper’s brothers were best friends and he always loved her but never pursued her. He promised his brother he won’t interfere with her career. Chase has been busy with his project with his brothers. Since his dream was building his own construction company, working to bring his father’s ranch into guest ranch.
Harper has been cooking phenom since she was little until she lost both parents. She dreamt of owning a restaurant in Vegas and she found a perfect opportunity to pursue her dream again. Now she only has week left in River Rock Colorado.
When Harper rescues a lab in the trashcan of her restaurant, Chase comes to help Harper and both take the pup to the vet. Ever since than their pull was getting stronger and they couldn’t deny their feelings. Both decided to take care of diabetic pup until they could find the family for the pup Houdini.
Since Harper was leaving in a week, Chase and Harper decided have a wild fling before she left for Vegas. They were counting the days until she was living and they were content with their status.
Until it is time to let Harper go. Chase promise to let Harper go to pursue her dream but he feels she is the one for him. And spur of the moment, he decided to adopt the Houdini as well.
They always loved each other from afar but now they can’t get enough of each other and they don’t want to end it. They will have to find away to be together.
Who doesn’t love a puppy. It was perfect blend to the story. I really enjoyed this one more than the first one. I loved all the characters and I can’t wait to read about his youngest brother.
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for my ARC in exchange for honest review.
Sweet-Loving Cowboy is the second book in the Kinky Spurs series by Stacey Kennedy, and it's one I was really looking forward to since I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, Dirty Talkng Cowboy. I'm happy to say that Ms. Kennedy didn't let me down, and I'm giving this novel a 4.5-star rating.
Chase Blackshaw and Brody McKinney have been best friends forever, and Chase had always thought of Brody's younger sister, Harper, as that little girl who always tagged around behind them. She and Brody lost their parents at an early age, and Brody, 5 years her senior, stepped up and took over raising his little sister, and probably became even more protective of her than any parent would have been. Nine months ago she returned to River Rock, CO, after attending culinary school, and one of her teachers, a famous Las Vegas chef and restauranteur, offered her an internship at his reknowned Las Vegas restaurant. Since her dream has always been to open her own Las Vegas restaurant one day, she's over the moon about this amazing opportunity, but she's not quite ready yet, and she's trying out her new skills (and earning some money for the move) by working part-time at Kinky Spurs, the local honky tonk, but she's also always been infatuated with Chase Blackshaw, and he's become her official taste-tester in the kitchen of Kinky Spurs.
Well, it turns out that Chase has been equally attracted to Harper since she returned to town nine months ago, but because of his close friendship with Brody, Chase has refused to cross the line and make a play for now 27-year-old Harper. However, for the past few months, as he shows up every night after work to taste-test her latest culinary creation, his attraction to Harper has grown, as have Harper's feelings for Chase, and when she announces that she'll be leaving in a week for Las Vegas to be mentored by the aforementioned famous chef, she and Chase both agree to cross that line and act on their mutual attraction for the 8 days left before she leaves town no strings attached, and boy do they ever!
Chase is an honorable man, and has promised Brody that he will do nothing to stop Harper from pursuing her dream and moving to Las Vegas, but neither Chase nor Harper is willing to let her last week in town pass without acting on what they both want--each other, and although time is short, Chase's dream of turning the family ranch into a guest ranch taking up much of his time, and Brody's upcoming wedding being moved to the day before Harper leaves town so she can attend, Harper and Chase manage to make time to be together and their chemistry (and kinkiness) are off the charts. It's obvious that these two truly care about each other and make each other happy, but what about Harper's dream job in Las Vegas? How is Brody going to feel when he learns what Chase has been up to with his little sister? And what of Chase's dream of turning the family home into a destination guest ranch, only to have it fail inspection, not once but twice? What will those failures do to his reputation and new business venture, Blackhawk Construction? The reasons for the failures seem beyond ridiculous, but why is the inspector being so difficult and so picky? Who will benefit if the guest ranch fails?
To find out the answers to these questions, you're just going to have to grab a copy of this sexy, sweet, and addictively entertaining novel yourself. I recommend reading the novels in the series in the order written, but this one works just fine as a standalone. I will also mention that the degree of kink in this novel might be an issue for some--it's definitely for mature readers, and this mature reader can hardly wait to read the next installment of this series.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
Sweet Loving Cowboy is the second book in the Kinky Boots series by Stacey Kennedy. While those that are reading the series in order will have prior knowledge of the characters, and secondary characters, newcomers can still fully enjoy the read as a stand alone.

Sweet Loving Cowboy started off right in the midst of the action, which made me wonder if I missed something at first. However, everything quickly becomes clear and even new readers to the series will pick up the tension between Harper and Chase, and why things have never crossed that line. I really enjoyed getting to know both characters more, and seeing them find their way. The obstacles they face are not standard, but and believable ad fit the story completely. I really love Harper, she is trying to find her way, and I will admit that I thought several things were going to end up differently, but I do enjoy surprises and if they had gone the way I thought things would have been way too easy. Chase is a good guy, with the drive to fight for things to be perfect. I think he would drive me crazy in real life, but reading about him did work for me because it worked for Harper. The puppy and construction issue just added real emotion and complications that made the pair's growth and relationship that much more real for me. Now I just need Nash and Megan to find their was together and I will be happy.
Sweet Loving Cowboy is exactly what I was hoping for, with a few surprises along the way. Kennedy fans will not be disappointed.
Another great story in this series. Just enough steam with the romance to keep my attention. And of course a little drama as always. Can’t wait to get my hands on the next book when it comes out.
OMG. This book was awesome. Read cover to cover because I couldn’t put it down at all. Kept me turning the pages well into the night. Definitely worth the lost of sleep. Fun characters, exciting plot and loads of passion and story I definitely recommend this book

M/F Romance
This is the second story in this series. You do not need to read book one to understand book two, but it was a cute read.
Harper is back and loves living near friends and family. Her dreams are big, and she is still wanting to follow them, but the lure of love is a big one and she's not sure if she wants to compromise. While she is waiting to see if her love life will pick up, she makes sure that her friends are happy and that she is still cooking up a storm. She also has some guilt over what her brother gave up in order to help her after their parents died. She just wants him to be happy without feeling any obligation.
Chase is working his tail off to get the ranch open for business. He wants his work to showcase the new facility and it's his passion to do work that is worthwhile. He knows that Harper should be off limits and he allowed Brody, Harper's brother, to dictate a little of their pathway, but once he realizes that Harper is going to follow her dreams, he will take the last few days with her to make his dreams a realization. Chase has loved Harper from afar and it's now time to love her up close.
These two characters have a lot of history and it helps with their dynamic a lot. With Chase's business venture having some difficulty, Harper will enlist her own prowess and figure out a way through. Chase also doesn't want to inhibit Harper's dreams either, but letting her go is proving harder than he thought.
Both of these people have to decide if dreams are worth the risk – personally and professionally. It was a sweet story and I enjoyed it.

Harper and Chase's relationship took a long time to get started and when then they began, they agreed it would only be for eight days. Then Harper was to follow her dreams by going to Las Vegas and studying under one of the best chefs in the city.
Chase wants her to follow her dreams and see her succeed even it means that means he has to give his dream – which is loving Harper.
As their time runs out, Harper begins to think harder and harder about what exactly is her dream.
I enjoyed the way that Harper faced the music with her brother and finally decided to live her dream and not anyone else's.

This is the second book in the series, and follows the fortunes of Chase Blackshaw. I would recommend that you read book one first as it sets up the background story to the Blackshaw brothers and their mission to save the family ranch.
Chase is following his dream of starting his own construction company by building the new ranch guest buildings. But everything comes to a halt when the inspector fails certain elements. As the issues are incredibly petty, it seems difficult to believe that this is a genuine inspection, and the Blackshaws seek to find out why it has happened. This stirs up a number of issues which we learned about in the first book, but with some unexpected results.
In the meantime, Harper is also finally accepting that she needs to chase her dream of a restaurant in Vegas, as Chase does not seem prepared to make a move. Little does she know that he is respecting his best friend, her brother, Brody's wishes. Once a deadline is set though, all bets are off and Chase makes his move. I both liked their final acceptance of the heat between them, but also that Harper got to think about why Vegas was important to her and what leaving really meant.
Houdini also deserves a special mention in this review as he was both sweet, fun, and utterly perfect as a fur grandbaby!
This was such a great read! The writing flowed well from the start, and I loved Chase and Harper together! The first story was great, and this was much of the same. Chase was a great guy who always tries to do the right thing. Harper was a great heroine who didn't run from her problems. I was so glad that she talked through things instead of trying to make decisions for everyone else. Brody was way out of line with his terms to Chase, but I guess he was just trying to be a good big brother. I loved seeing all the brothers come together to get to the bottom of the problems they were having. I can't wait to read Nash and Megan's story. That is going to be awesome!
I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
