Sweet? No, hot and hotter! I loved this book and now I have to get the other two in the series so that I can read about ALL the characters in this story. If their stories are anything like this one, it will be a fabulous read! Kinky Spurs as a series should give you an idea that the content is not sweet!
Loved that it was a woman who owned a bar in the story and she’s as sexy as the guys. And that’s not even the main storyline! Being a barmaid is a part time job for Harper McKinney until she leaves for her big chance at fame and fortune in the restaurant business. Only what she really wants is Chase Blackshaw and he seems to be uninterested. A girl can only flirt so much before she gives up.
Chase knows he can’t have Harper – she’s his BFFs little sister. So he’s hands off – until he isn’t. Eight days of touching and then she’s gone from his life. At least that’s what they agree upon.
You’ll love the back and forth between the two as well as the interference from family and friends!
I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest and unbiased review. No compensation was promised or received for the review.
Harper McKinney had big dreams when she finished culinary school. Right now, she’s a bartender at Kinky Spurs. Even though she is content with her life, her brother is determined that she make a name for herself and get far away from working in a bar. But Harper refuses to go anywhere because she's in love with her brother’s best friend, Chase Blackshaw.
After the death of his father Chase has the responsibility of running the construction of the Blackshaw Cattle Company’s guest ranch. Chase had dreams of opening a construction company, but lack of finances kept him working for the family’s cattle ranch. Now with the responsibility of his family’s guest ranch on his shoulders those dreams seem far away.
Now Chase has more trouble on his hands when Harper decides to move to Las Vegas and resisting temptation is more than he anticipated. But fate steps in when Chase has the opportunity to live out his dreams and Harper may lose hers.
I love a Stacey Kennedy romance. This is book two in the Kinky Spurs Series and is Chase and Harper’s story. Chase has been pining for Harper for awhile now but promised his best friend and her brother he would let her alone so she could achieve her dream of becoming a chef. Well, she’s back home. Their story is sweet, emotional, and very sexy. The Blackshaw brother’s are great and I can not wait for Nash’s story.
3.5 - "Eight days… That’s what we’ve got." Stars.
The second book in the Kinky Spurs series sees the passion between middle Blackshaw brother; Chase ignite with his best friends little sister Harper.
"Do you want to play..?"
Someone he has repeatedly been warned to stay away from, but she’s leaving town to pursue her dreams of cooking for the great and good in Las Vegas, so all bets are off, for a week of farewell passion.
"This is sex and fun… not love and forever."
But things go from non-committal fun, too hot, heavy, deep and meaningful pretty much from the first kiss they share, and what was initially agreed upon as a no-strings fling morphs into so much more for them both.
"Ever feel like you’re right where you’re supposed to be..?"
"…I feel like that every time I am with you."
Low drama, plenty of sex, Chase similarly to his brother Shep likes a bit of kink when the mood takes him, we have the addition of rescue animals into the story-line which is always a winner with me, and the tiny amount of strife involved in the plot was easy to pinpoint the relevant person straight off the bat.
"There has never been a single doubt in my mind that the second we crossed that line and let ourselves feel, there was no going back."
I found the second half more appealing, in regards to pace, and I liked that the frenemies relationship between youngest Blackshaw; Nash, and Kinky Spurs mainstay Megan was fleshed out a bit further in preparation for their book; Hard-Riding Cowboy, which is due for release early 2019.
When Harper gets asked to move to Vegas and work along an amazing chef it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity a dream come true to make something of herself and get her out of her small town. But before she can go she needs to know if the attraction between her and Chase her brothers best friend, which brings some complications in of itself, can turn into something more. Eight days before she leaves they can’t fight the attraction anymore. Is it enough to time or will it completely change the dreams Harper has always gone after? Sweet-Loving Cowboy is the second book in author Stacey Kennedy's Kinky Spurs series. Here we once again meet Chase Blackshaw who was introduced in the first book in the series. Chase's dream is to have his own construction company. His dream is getting a head start by building the cabins for the Blackshaw Cattle Company's new guest ranch. We are introduced to the heroine of the story, Harper McKinney who is the sister of Chase's best friend Blake. She has graduated from culinary school in Denver and is home deciding on her next steps. Her dream is to open her own restaurant in Las Vegas. So our hero is determined to remain in River Rock, Colorado to make his dream come true. Harper has to decide if her dream will come true starting up her own restaurant in Las Vegas or not. The two of them have been fighting a strong sexual attraction for months. One week before Harper is slated to leave for Las Vegas they decide to get together for the week. But will one week be enough? Decisions have to be made and lives will be altered.
This story is a delightful sweet romance with lots of hot, sexy scenes. The characters are very likable, especially Harper and Chase and I just wanted to see them both happy. I loved that they rescued a very cute chocolate lab puppy together. The puppy, Houdini added some sweet and fun scenes to the story. The Blackshaw brothers are all amazing, sexy guys. There is one more brother to look forward to in the next book. I can't wait for Nash and Megan's story.
I am so in love with this Book. It was Fantastic. From the first chapter, I felt myself beginning to fall. Everything about this storyline and the characters captivated me. Get your fire extinguisher ready because “Sweet-Loving Cowboy” is Hot and satisfying.
Chase and Harper are delicious together. Their personalities, their conversations, their intense hunger and instant, explosive, raging sexual chemistry is ... my, my, my! I was a goner charmed beyond words.
Stacey Kennedy knows how to capture and set the hearts of her readers on fire. She is an excellent writer with books that ooze heartfelt and sexy goodness. This was delicious. This has all the things I live for in Romance.
Don’t miss this Sexy, Fun and Entertaining, Romance that will melt your heart .... and other things.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Sweet-Loving Cowboy is amazing. Best friends sister equals off limits. Falling for best friends sister shouldn't happen especially since it could squash big dreams. Finding out that you can get the green light to see where it goes as long as you don't get in the way of her dreams is a no brainer right? Little did Chase know that when he took Harper for himself finally is that he never wanted to let her go. Harper is a culinary wizard made for bigger then a small town. She has crushed on Chase as long as she can remember. Chase is that sweet cowboy who is helping turn the family ranch into more. He also has this really naughty side and waiting for Harper to show him she's interested. Once these two hook up there is no turning back or denying what is between them. And wait until you meet Houdini. I loved this book and I'm looking forward to more in the Kinky Spurs series.
Talk about sweet-loving, Chase is the quintessential cowboy with a heart of gold. He's had his eyes on Harper for awhile but has never crossed the line with his best friend's sister. But now the gauntlet's been thrown; Harper leaves for Vegas in just eight days. Eight days for him to show her what they could be, a chance to never say "what if". But what's right: taking the taste of the one girl who could win his heart or possibly breaking hers by risking her dream? Chase takes sweetness to a whole new level in his search for what's right and what his heart wants. He's willing to sacrifice his HEA for her to accomplish her dream.
Harper is in one of the toughest situations. She's going to achieve her dream of opening her own restaurant in Vegas but there's one hiccup; Chase. They've danced for months around each other, flirting and passing glances; but he's never crossed the line. But when he learns she's leaving for good, he offers her one week in his bed every night to see what they could've had, to finally let their chemistry ignite. And ignite it does! Chase and Harper are hot and heavy and easily flow into a relationship. But as Harper spends more time in Chase's arms, she starts to rethink what her dream truly is. And it's something she never expected.
Kennedy does an amazing job taking a hard situation for a character and truly making it seem like there's no easy way out. Not only is there the development of Harper and Chase's relationship, Harper and Chase each have decisions to make int heir own lives for what future they truly want in their careers. Chase may loose it all and Harper has to rethink what she's always wanted. Mix in a sweet puppy that needs their love and ties them together and this romance is filled with love and sweet times!
book two in the kinky spurs trilogy has middle brother chase finding his forever with his best friend's little sister, harper. they have to work for it though. when the novel opens, harper is on the verge of leaving town to fulfill her las vegas dreams of opening her own restaurant. chase, realizing she's committed to leaving, can't let her go without first indulging in the chemistry they've been hiding from. he's been raised to put others dreams before his, and this noble streak is a core part of his character.
i really love stories where the conflict isn't about whether or not the characters love each other, but more about how will the characters love each other and make things work. that's what we have in sweet-loving cowboy. figuring out what they really want of life and how to get it is what stymies both harper and chase, but when they figure it all out, it's so deeply satisfying.
**sweet loving cowboy will publish on october 9, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/st. martin's press (swerve) in exchange for my honest review.
I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Chase and Harper was well written. It will make you laugh, cry, feel sad, has some betrayal, lust and hopeful. I whole heartedly recommend this book. This book has no cheating. I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Harper and Chase were a good match, however the rest of the characters were a little flat for me, specifically her brother. One minute he is punching Chase for even thinking of dating Harper, the next minute he was congratulating them. About two-thirds of this book was wonderful and fun to read, the rest was just meh.
Chase and Harper story had troubles from the start.
Chase didn't want to stand in the way of her dream and even though he wanted her and needed her like his next breath he was not ready to take thing to the next level.
The sexual tension and attraction they had going, was driving Harper insane, she didn't understand how he kept stopping every time they got close.
Her brother was standing between them, she understood his motives but she wanted to know how it felt to have Chase before her life changed.
Chase's plan definitely backfired when his feelings for her got stronger. How could he let his reason for living go. They say that if you love something let it go and if it comes back it's yours forever. He will have to put her before his needs, she is the one that needs to make the choice and realize that her happiness is with him at home.
"Do what you need to do. Decide what you need to decide. Whatever that may be... make this choice for you. Not for me. Not for Brody. Not to hold onto the past. For you, Harper."
Harper is having doubts, everything she thought she wanted doesn't seem as perfect now. Her dreams have changed, because she has changed too.
"Happiness is not what you do, it's who you're with when you do it"
Sometimes in life we can only see our finish line, the dream, and we miss the opportunities in the way. Taking a step back and looking at the people that love you and surround you might change everything.
You can either choose to keep going or embrace something that is truly special.
It is impossible not to smile while reading Sweet Loving Cowboy. This book has it all. A sexy hero, a sweet heroine and the love of a good dog. The story isn't far fetched and the characters are people you would like to know. The romance gets pretty steamy and at the same time it's about the relationship they are building. It's not sex for the sake of sex. I really loved this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
I had the pleasure of reading an arc of this book and I can guarantee you will love it like I did! Chase Blackshaw has been eyeing Harper for the last nine months and even though she is his best friend Brody’s sister he can’t stop himself. She is leaving for Vegas in 8 days to be an apprentice with a world class chef in order for her to get on the way of opening her own restaurant in Vegas. He sees an opportunity and he goes for it! Those 8 days will be fun filled, with lots of sexy hot moments and some great friends and family time. No spoilers, Will Harper go to Vegas? Will Houdini the puppy they found save the day? Will Chase’s construction company survive? So many things can go wrong or will they? This is another wonderful story about the Blakshaw boys, family and friends. So an entertaining, interesting story.
Sigh, the Blackshaw brothers are that perfect blend of cocky Alpha male and cowboy. Chase is working hard to build the guest ranch to save the family ranch and trying not to pursue Harper, his best friend’s sister. When Harper decides she is moving on to Vegas to pursue her career as a chef, he finally gives in and decides to take the few days they have left. Harper had an immediate connection to Chase when she returned home from school but she could tell Chase was fighting it. When one night a whimper from the dumpster brings the two together, all bets are off. Now, can Harper really walk away from River Rock. Or has she finally found what has been missing in her life? Love Brody being the protective older brother. I also love the bond between all 3 Blackshaw brother’s and the group of friends they have built. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
This had all the sweet elements I love in a romance. It was funny, charming, heated and safe. As the MCs, Chase and Harper were easy to like and their story was more a slow burn than I was expecting, especially since they have amazing tension vibrating between them all the time, lol! The chemistry was hot, the emotional pull was present and the author added her own twist to the little sister & brother's best friend trope.
I loved that fact that Brody doesn't object to Chase seeing Harper because of the usual double standards in this type of trope. He warns Chase off because he doesn't want anything (or anyone) to stand in the way of Harper's dream to move to Las Vegas and start her culinary career. He never questions Chase's honor or integrity. He knows that Chase is a good man and that he would never intentionally harm his sister. His protectiveness was both for his friend and his sister and I thought that was refreshing.
I also loved that Chase and Harper are friends first and then they become lovers. Their relationship was so comfortable, they didn't have recriminations, past hurts or misunderstandings between them. They always talked things through and they were just really sweet together. Chase was the ultimate gentleman and Harper was a smart and likable character.
This author knows how to turn up the heat in her books but I felt this one was toned down just a smidge. Still sexy but needed that extra push to make it really take off (at least for this reader!)
Can't wait for the final book about Megan and Nash. The love/hate between them seems to ramp up their sexual tension with each encounter and I'm dying to get my hands on their story!
Would I recommend? Yes. The Blackshaws are pretty awesome :)

Will they go against what’s expected?
I had so much fun reading Chase and Harper’s love story. If you want all the sexy feels this was a fantastic book.
Well let me start by saying I have become a huge fan of this author. She writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines that are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.
Harper McKinney finished culinary school with big dreams. Right now, she’s a bartender at Kinky Spurs. While she’s content with her life, her brother is determined that she make a name for herself, because he wants her far away from what he deems a trashy bar. But Harper refuses to go anywhere. She’s in love with her brother’s best friend, Chase Blackshaw, and that love is keeping her in River Rock.
After the death of Chase’s father, he’s the one responsible for running the construction of the Blackshaw Cattle Company’s guest ranch. Back in the day, he had dreams of opening a construction company, but lack of finances kept him working for the family’s cattle ranch. Now with the responsibility of his family’s guest ranch on his shoulders those dreams seem far away. Though he has bigger problems. His build is failing the inspections.
Now Chase has more trouble on his hands. Harper, the woman he’s forbidden to ever touch has decided to move to Las Vegas. She isn’t so little anymore, and Chase is finding her all too tempting. She’s also not shy about what she wants. Him. Naked. And giving her some sweet lovin’ in all the kinky ways he craves. But neither Chase nor Harper can anticipate the fate that awaits them if they dare give in to their desires, as Chase soon learns there is something far worse than not being able to live out his dreams. It’s being given the chance to live out his dreams but having to watch Harper lose hers.
I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to
This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕
This was so incredibly sweet and sexy. I had a lot of fun reading it and thought it was really entertaining. The Blackshaw brothers totally do it for me!
I thought Chase and Harper were great and I loved their attraction. I loved their growing feelings and their electric chemistry. I enjoyed watching Harper work through her struggles and figure out what she wants to do in life and how Chase was there for her. Chase was a total sweetheart and made me melt. He had his own dilemmas happening and I felt for him but loved that he could find comfort in Harper. Together they were super sexy. There was a whole lot of sweet happening but there was a nice mix of emotion as well. I thought it had a nice balance.
I enjoyed the secondary characters. The Blackshaw brothers are their own brand of charming. I liked the male bonding moments immensely, I'm a sucker for that. I also loved Harper’s relationship with her brother. I thought that was really sweet. There were a lot of great moments throughout that had me smiling.
I loved the story and details and thought there was good character development. I really liked that there were a few other stories woven in and thought it all worked together well. This was just sweet and fun, full of goodness and made me happy to read. There's a nice bit of light drama mixed into their growing relationship that kept things lively and moving along.
This was just a great solid read with likable characters that made me smile. It was an excellent friends to lovers story. They were just so genuine, sweet, and sexy, and I really enjoyed it.
Another great visit to the Kinky Spurs from Stacey Kennedy. If you love your cowboys sexy, sweet and a little on the dirty side, this is an absolute must read. Can’t wait for the final book in the series.
