Kerry Wilkinson does it again in The Wife's Secret. Many years ago, Charley Willis' parents were killed by a stranger who broke into their home. Present day, she is marrying Seth Chambers but disappears on the evening of her wedding. She is gone without a trace. Seth seeks out the truth only to find that his new bride has a huge secret. One that haunts her every day. Everyone thinks there is a Willis curse since her older sister was found dead years after their parents' death in the family home. Speculators think that Charley may be dead as well since there are clues along the way that suggest it. This was a fantastically written book and Wilkinson feeds the reader just a little bit at a time until he gets to the twist at the end.

Thank you to Netgalley, Kerry Wilkinson, and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley, the Publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in return for my review based on my honest opinion.

I haven't read a book by Kerry Wilkinson that I haven't liked and this book is no exception. I like her characters and the way she writes them, their flaws, their history, it makes every book a great read.

Seth and Charley get married, and he is feeling pretty lucky until he realizes that his new bride has gone missing from the reception; no one has seen her, except his alzheimer's riddled mother, who due to her disease he is leery to completely believe. As friends, family and the police start the search, the press show up and the question being asked is, could it be the Willis curse; Charley, as it turns out has have a horrific past, when she was thirteen her parents, famous television personalities, Annie and Paul Willis, were brutally murdered while she hid in the linen closet. Seth knows very little of this time in Charley's life as she never speaks of it and he has never really asked, how do you bring such a thing up in conversation. But back in present day, does that have anything to do with where Charley is now; did she just walk away, was she taken, is she still alive, Seth will do anything to find her, she is the love of his life, but as he starts to uncover the story; he starts to wonder if he really knows his wife at all?

This story is told by Seth's point of view in the present and Charley's voice in the past; both very compelling and this story hurtles along and you get caught up in the story, which is brilliant, just as you think you have it figured out, it twists again. It was a great read and definitely not my last Kerry Wilkinson book.

I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I have to say that in reading what this book was about--a bride missing during her reception sounded intriguing to me. However, I only got about a third of the way through and was really disappointed. The switching between the present and past was confusing and I just felt like the book was very slow paced.

This was a great book to read. The wife has a secret and boy is it a big one!!!!! There was great build up through out the book to keep you guessing what this secret is and to keep you fully interested in the story. The author does a great job of weaving characters in and out so you never truly know what this big secret is until the very end.

It's suspenseful, it's intriguing, it's riveting, it's gripping, it's mysterious and while this is a thriller, it was fun to read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be checking out other books by Kerry Wilkinson.

My thanks to Kerry Wilkinson, Bookouture, and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book really hooked me from the beginning. It’s full of twists and flashbacks which ultimately explain what has happened.
Charley and Seth get married but then Charley disappears on their wedding night. The main part of the novel is set in the present and explains what has happened at the wedding and afterwards; the reader sees things from Seth’s point of view and the articles and chapters which are set in Charley’s childhood as the youngest daughter of famous parents gradually build up background to the story.
I enjoyed reading about the relationship between Charley and her older sister, Martha but as I read I couldn’t help picking up on the threatening atmosphere and I knew there wasn’t going to be a happy ending.
I enjoyed this book as it was easy to read and held my attention. I shall certainly look out for other novels by this author.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my arc in exchange for an honest review.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the book in exchange for an honest review.
I found this book got me hooked after a while and I had to keep reading until I got to the end. At times it felt like a Hollywood memoir of how terrible my famous parents, were. Like a ‘Momma Dearest ’ expose. All of the different flashbacks then started to unfold and make some sort of sense. At times some of the characters were quite terrifying and other times they blended in as if they belonged there.
That is what makes a psychological thriller believable. Many of the characters were not people you would want to spend time with, whilst others seemed quite normal.
Highly recommended.

Full of mystery! Was a real page turner, and I definitely felt for the family. It was full of twists and turns, but so sad. I had a hard time understanding how she kept everything from her partner, and it made me less sympathetic. Very well written book.

One star is for books I didn't finish and two stars is for books I did read until the end, but didn't enjoy.

This story was simply too much for me, all those twists and turns making it too dramatically and not a very plausible story telling.

Can I just say I loved the first line of this book? “They say you can choose your family. That might be true, but you can certainly leave them off the guest list when you’re getting married.”

The story involves Charley, a bride who goes missing from her wedding reception. This story is interwoven with the story of Charley’s parents who were murdered in their house when Charley was just 13.

The present day story is told from Seth’s POV. In addition to his missing bride, he’s dealing with a mother with dementia. The back chapters are told from Charley’s and a variety of other individuals’ POVs.

At one point, Wilkinson uses a news reporter as the cynical voice of what’s to come after the murders. It’s spot on. No humor here like his Jessica Daniels series. This one is dark and brooding. It’s a slow burn. You are in the dark, no idea whether Charley was taken or gone on her own. Is she dead or being held somewhere?

This one kept my Interest from beginning to end. Lots of twists to the plot. Another worthy addition to Wilkinson’s oeuvre.

My thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of this book.

Do we really know who we married? Only time will tell...

The Wife’s Secret is a compelling psychological thriller that I read in 24 hours.
The first few chapters were slow to start, but then it picked up and I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end. This book does move between timelines with ease, in fact, the flashbacks make the story more intriguing. A definite winner with a great storyline, fantastic characters, and an ending you won't see coming! This was my first book by Kerry Wilkinson and it definitely won't be my last!

*Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The happiest day of Seth’s life turns into a miserable one when his bride Charley disappears on their wedding night. With no one knowing and no clues about her whereabouts the police get involved.Charley is well known to the police as she survived a vicious attack in her home when she was 13 years old that ended in both her parents getting killed. Charley along with her sister Martha tried moving on and she built a life for herself but maybe her past and the killer finally caught up on her.

Kerry Wilkinson’s The Wife’ Secret switches between two different timelines and different point of view but is easy to follow. A psychological thriller which was a little slow paced in the middle compared to his other books, it was still an enjoyable read and am looking forward to reading more by him

This was an immediately intriguing suspense thriller by an author who is new to me, but has an impressive back catalogue, that I look forward to sampling in future. While I’ve read a lot in this genre this year, I still didn’t guess what was going on, and I also liked the main story being told from a male perspective for a change. Despite the fact that my husband is also called Kerry, I had assumed that the author was female!

Seth Chambers is trying to find his wife, Charley - not so unusual, but this is their wedding day, and the ceremony is over - a little late for cold feet?! His confusion turns to panic as she has disappeared without a trace, and the following day, he can do nothing but go home and wait, and worry. Could it be something to do with Charley’s tragic past? - her famous TV personality parents were murdered in their home when she was just 13...

This is told from various points of view (in 1st person present, but this didn’t bother me as much as usual as it works well here) in both past and present. Seth came across as amiable but a bit feeble - for a vet he doesn’t seem terribly bright - but he loves his wife and his frustration and fear were well conveyed. I loved the scenes and relationship between Charley and Martha.
I don’t want to spoil this by saying more, except to recommend this as a clever original English psychological thriller.

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a voluntary honest review and apologies that it’s a bit late.

Having read some of Kerry Wilkinson’s work before, I wasn’t surprised to not be able to put down this book! I read it all in one sitting, and was mad to get to the end to figure it all out. I had guessed the twist about 80% of the way through but it still made a compelling read and one which makes me want to pick up another of his books again soon!

It took me a few chapters to get into The Wife’s Secret despite the intriguing start of Charley’s disappearance hours after her wedding. With multiple POVs and timelines that cover Charley’s past and present, we get to see how her life was with her famous parents and older siblings. Once I get used to the narrative, I was deeply absorbed. But the mystery of her parents’ death left a lot more questions to me than Charley’s sudden disappearance. I guess it’s because I feel like Seth didn’t do anything much to look for his wife and just waited for whatever comes next.

We knew early on that the Willis family is far from normal and are keeping a lot of secrets. They are all so interesting characters and I am more fascinated by their lives than that of Seth’s. I appreciate how the truth about everything slowly unravels through the flashbacks in between the present narratives. It effectively builds the suspense that will keep you reading until you get to the last page. And though predictable at times, it still managed to surprise me in some ways. I find the ending okay but it did lack excitement and leave some things unresolved which left me feeling unsatisfied. Nevertheless, it is a well-written thriller and a decent read overall.

This is another brilliant book by Kerry Wilkinson. Charley and Seth have just got married but he realises at the wedding reception that she has gone missing. Charley’s traumatic past is then revealed. When she was 13 years old her parents were murdered whilst Charley hid in a wardrobe. Martha, her older sister, returned home and found them and Charley. Their parents were well known celebrities so this story and Charley were headline news. We discover what Charley’s early childhood and life was really like when Martha took her to live with her. The story then unravels, going back in time, revealing all sorts of secrets and lies, Charley’s parents hiding the most. I was hooked from the first page, not wanting to put it down. There are so many twists and turns and a surprise ending. An excellent read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Imagine getting married to the woman of your dreams and then waking up the next day to find her gone! This is my first Kerry Wilkinson read. The Wife's Secret was a build up that made me continually want to read another chapter.
There were plot twists and surprises that kept me entertained throughout. Thank you, Netgalley!

The Wife’s Secret is a fab psychological thriller that I devoured in less than a day, I have read a few books by Kerry Wilkinson and I think this is the best yet. From the first page I was swept up in this thriller and knew I was going to love it.
Seth has just got married to Charley, he’s known her only a couple of years but knew instantly he was going to marry her, there’s just one problem it’s gearing up to the first dance and he can’t find his bride. Charley is missing has she been taken, has she had cold feet and ran or has she been having an affair? Time will tell.
This was a steady paced thriller with some good characters, it does move between timelines but wether it’s because I’m getting used to this type of book or it’s down to Kerry Wilkinson’s easy but believable writing style I actually thought the flashbacks helped this story move along. I didn’t guess the ending and was a little away from the conclusion but was happy I hadn’t guessed it.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
