Okay, so I didn't actually finish this book. Not for its lack of greatness, because it was really good, but because I kinda forgot about reading the book, and then after a long time after I received the book I'm like
"Oh my gosh! I need to write a review!!"

I had a lot of notes from what I did read, I basically had my whole review written on paper, and they seem to have disappeared.
So, in advance, I'm terribly sorry for this review being so... Bleh.
Also, I am so, so sorry to Revell for not getting a review up sooner.
So without further ado, my thoughts on the book.

Holley brought up some very interesting and encouraging points. I was very inspired.
She definitely has a talent of reaching out to women's hearts.
She talked about the things people are afraid to talk about. She's not afraid to call out the wrong and set it right.

Holley has an amazing writing style.
I love how she can take simple, everyday things and it turn it into this grand example of how to live for Jesus.
Holley you are truly amazing!!

"He was there before we were created. He spoke the world into being. As the Lightbringer, Star-scatterer, and Breather of life into the first man's lungs.
He will be there long after we're gone, ashes to ashes and dust to dust. He is the God of the past, present, and future. Ours and all of history's."

I will most definitely be finishing this book, it was seriously sooo good!!!
I definitely recommend this book!!

As always, I looked around a bit to find the best price, and CBD won this time!!

Thank you so much to Revell for a free copy of Hope Your Heart Needs. I was asked for an honest review, all thoughts expressed are purely my own.

These 52 devotions by Holley Gerth are beautiful and inspiring. In Holley’s flowing, personal writing style, she guides us to think on God’s character as the reason for our hope. Each devotion has a passage from scripture and ends with a prayer based on that day’s topics. These devotions are not written for a deep Bible study, but rather to be that sweet encouraging nudge to help us get through a day, week, or season when we find ourselves needing encouragement. I’ll be reading this book again, one devotion at a time. The title “Hope Your Heart Needs” is the perfect title for this book. This book would also be a great gift for a woman in any season of life.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Trying to understand the inherent nature of God's character, exactly who He is, what He means to us, and how He loves us beyond compare, changes our lives in the most unimaginable ways. It sounds like music to our ears to hear God's still small voice whisper to our hearts, "You're mine." It fills our hearts with the greatest hope, divine joy and priceless peace that is truly out of this world. In fifty-two inspiring, heart-to-heart devotions, Holley Gerth shares the God-given answer to the innate restlessness that keeps us trying to achieve in our lives what only a loving Heavenly Father can do for us. The Almighty God who painted the skies with joyous abandon by scattering myriads of twinkling stars like glittering diamonds across the sweeping panorama of the universe, the Maker of us all, invites us to draw close to Him in the only relationship worth having in this world. He is what our hearts have been searching for all our lives.

This is one of several books by Holley Gerth I’ve had the pleasure of reading, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. With her gentle, poetic style, Holley offers 52 devotionsto help you ponder the different names of God recorded in Scripture.

I love the beautiful language and well-drawn word pictures she uses throughout her books, including this one. She writes with vulnerability, sharing her real-life struggles and turning her stories into golden nuggets of inspiration for you.

I enjoyed the tidbits of Bible knowledge and the great quotes from other authors that she shares so freely. I can always count on a high-quality read from Holley, whether it’s on her blog or in her books. Hope Your Heart Needs is a gift book that you can give with confidence to a loved one or friend who needs hope.

Favorite quotes:

“Sometimes when I look back with regret at the past or toward tomorrow with fear, it can be disturbing because I can’t seem to find God in those places. And I think all the while he might be saying, ‘I was there when you were. And I will be there when you arrive at that place tomorrow. But right now I’m right here.'”
“Easton’s Bible Dictionary says Abba ‘is a term expressing warm affection…and confidence.’ The same entry also notes, ‘It has no perfect equivalent in our language’…There is no perfect equivalent to the kind of dad that God is to us.”
“It’s easy to think of Jesus as powerful, mighty, and holy. It’s simpler for me to bend my knee than dare to bend his ear about my daily, ordinary struggles. But we are his friends. We can go to him with anything and everything.”

Netgalley provided me a free copy of Hope Your Heart Needs.

I have read Holley Gerth‘s blog for years now. The words of encouragement flow in those pages. I also love her Coffee For Your Heart link-up! So when the possibility came to review her new devotional, Hope Your Heart Needs? I didn’t need to think long about whether I wanted to read the book. Because, yes. That was an easy decision to make.

And honestly, friends? This book is so beautiful, wonderful, and encouraging. It holds 52 devotions, yet I read those faster for book reviewing purposes. Honestly, though, I could have read all the 52 devotions on one go because it was such a encouraging read full of hope. These pages are full of honest moments and realizations that come with daily life. But they are also full of hope and point the reader to the Gospel and our wonderful God. Holley Gerth considers those moments our heart needs hopes — and then she delivers hope, beautifully. And always with God in mind.

Holley Gerth is a wonderful writer who points her reader to God, in everything. At the same time, it is easy for the reader to relate to what Holley Gerth is writing because of the way that she writes. All in all, her book is wonderfully full of hope and relatable moments. These devotions are also ones I will love to read in the mornings, for that hope I know my heart needs. I haven’t read any books by Holley Gerth before, though I’m a fan of her blog. But I so want to read more of her books now.

I wasn't a big fan of this book and didn't read through all the meditations. They were too abstract and not deep enough for me. The ones I read were very short and I didn't think they had much substance to them. However, people may like them if they like meditations that are surface level but on the flowery side. Each meditation is focused on one aspect of God and the author relates it to experiences in her life whether by seeing the morning star or in her counseling practice. Some people will relate to them and others won’t. They didn’t connect with me but I know people in my life who these meditations would sooner connect with.
