CHRISTMAS IN CAPE COD is the perfect way to spend the afternoon! Grab your favorite blanket and get on the couch with this beautiful story! Asa and Noah head up to see his parents on the Cape for Christmas. As a single parent, Asa has his challenges but Maddie comes along for the ride and the three of them learn what Christmas means as they figure out this new life together.
I will certainly be checking out other books by Nan Rossiter. I love Christmas and CHRISTMAS ON CAPE COD is about family and friends coming together to celebrate the holidays. Noah has lost his first father but has another one now. Love how they celebrate the holiday on the Cape and the surprises that await them under the tree. Oh and be forewarned, Don’t read this book while hungry. There are plenty of detailed references to delicious foods.
CHRISTMAS ON CAPE COD is not my first time reading Nan Rossiter. I was instantly hooked on this beautiful story and finished it with a huge lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. I loved the cozy holiday scene at the cabin with Asa’s family, the happiness they shared and the wonderful gift Noah receives melted my heart. At the end, there is a touching scene where Asa finally realizes what he has right in front of him, which was the perfect ending. Once I started reading this very emotional love story, I could not put it down. Be prepared to ignore everything else until you are done. All I wanted to do when I finished reading was to reach out and give Noah a big hug.
The Short of It:
A heartwarming story about family, love, and creating new traditions during the Christmas season.
The Rest of It:
I am no stranger to Nan Rossiter’s work. I think I’ve read nearly everything she’s published. Whenever I hear about something she’s written, I’m always eager to read it because it’s guaranteed to make you feel good. Christmas on Cape Cod can now be added to that feel-good list.
Christmas on Cape Cod includes some notable characters from Rossiter’s novel, The Gin and Chowder Club. which I also reviewed on this blog. That said, I don’t think you have to read the books in any kind of order. This story centers around Christmas so now is the perfect time to read it.
Asa and his son Noah head up to see his parents on the Cape for Christmas. As a single parent, Asa has his challenges but his good friend Maddie comes along for the ride and the three of them learn what Christmas means as they figure out this new life together.
I really enjoyed this story. It’s short but so full of good. Christmas stories (and movies) can be a little sappy in the telling but not here. Christmas on Cape Cod is all about family, and traditions and food and drink. It’s about letting go of what you know, in order to create something wonderful and new.
If you want to feel good, pick it up, start a fire and drink a mug of Glug, which is proudly featured in the book.
I was so excited to start reading Christmas on Cape Cod, but to my dismay, the novel did not live up to my expectations of it, based off of the description. I found that it was rather tough to keep my focus while reading, and I ended up DNF-ing around 35%.
This was a cute, holiday read. I read it quickly, and while a bit predictable it was still enjoyable. Thanks Netgalley for this ARC in return for honest review.
It’s a fine read in the advent of Christmas. It might feel cheesy and rather sweet, but you’ll have to agree when you finish the last page: it’s exactly what you needed.
I received an electronic copy of this book for free from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. I want to start by saying I have read all of Nan Rossiter's previous books and loved them all so I was very excited to read this one. The fact that it's a Christmas book made it even better. I always love books with Christmas themes. Christmas in July for me! This was a sweet, heartfelt book and I loved every moment I spent reading it.
thank you Kensington publishing and netgalley for the arc, the review is my own opinion. This is a lovely short Christmas novella. It I'd fill of all the things that make a good story. I like the book and look forward to reading more stories by this aurhor
Christmas on Cape Cod
By Nan Rossiter
Christmas on Cope Cod; centers around Christmas, learning about what Christmas means; so, now is the perfect time to read this book. A heartwarming Christmas story; about family, love, and creating new traditions during the Christmas. About letting go of what you know, creating something wonderful and new; discovering that best friends might indeed mean much more to the heart, of the magic that the Christmas season brings and the possibility of a romance on the horizon. Christmas on Cape Cod is full of new family traditions; while holding on to some from the past, laughter, a few tears and love growing.
I enjoyed this short story full of promise for the future, and watching a family be born; so, full of good Christmas spirit, all about family, traditions and food. If you love the magic of Christmas, beautiful settings and all the trappings that make up a festive season then you’ll fall in love with the characters Nan Rossiter has created in Christmas on Cape Cod. This book receives a 5-star rating from me, I love Christmas and anyone that can help others to love the season has my vote.
This is a short novella and I did love the story of Asa and his son and surprising him on Christmas and Asa's friend Maddie joining Asa, Noah and Asa's parents for Christmas. You can feel the love of everyone and how Asa and Maddie both really have feelings for each other. I just wanted more character development on Asa's past with Noah's mom and his other dad. This house sounded like a perfect scene for Christmas.
A sweet and lovely romance by a wonderful new author that I am looking forward to reading more of.. thank you for allowing me to read this book.
Asa Coleman is a single dad to young son Cole. He's trying to do it all and hoping that this Christmas will be special for his son. He plans to gather family to Cape Cod for Christmas and also invites his friend Maddie Carlson. Asa never realized how much Maddie cared for him but, before the holiday is over the spirit of the season makes magical things happen between the couple.
This was a very short novella, a sweet story, but, something was missing. Apparently there is a backstory from an earlier book. I wished that I knew a bit more about Asa and Cole and what had happened to Cole's mother.
This was a very quick read. It was slow at times though. It took some time to get the backstory. It was a fine Christmas read.
This little novella captures the joy, love and coziness that goes with the holiday season. This one features Asa and his young son, Noah, as they prepare for a Christmas with Asa’s parents. Noah is sweet, cute and he exudes all the joy of a kid at Christmas. Accompanying Noah is Maddie Carson, a young lady who has been crushing on Asa for years. Melody adores Noah and she agrees to spend the holiday with Asa and Noah away from her family.
I loved the cozy holiday scene at the cabin with Asa’s family, the happiness they shared and the wonderful gift Noah receives melted my heart.
At the end, there is a touching scene where Isa finally realizes what he has right in front of him, which was the perfect ending.
The only hesitation I had with this one is there are mentions of how Noah came to live with Asa, there was something sticky about the situation, so I looked up the novel that this novella is tied to: The Gin and Chowder Club, how Asa and Noah come to be is mentioned in the synopsis. It is a troubling situation...I didn’t like it at all.
This is a short, sweet and simple novella packed full of all that you love about the holidays. If you want a quick little read, try this one.
I received a copy of this novella from the publisher in exchange for and honest review. All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for this review.

I received an advanced reviewer copy of Christmas On Cape Cod by Nan Rossiter from the publisher (Kensington Books) through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
What It’s About: Asa and his son Noah are getting ready to celebrate Christmas along with Asa’s old friend Maddie. This book traces their adventures from Christmas Eve to Christmas.
What I loved: It’s a quick read and reads like a hallmark movie.
What I didn’t like so much: I was looking for descriptions of Christmas in Cape Cod in exchange for a predictable story. I didn’t get that, this book didn’t have vivid descriptions nor any real storyline. There are hints of a storyline but they never get fully worked out. They just are mentioned. Apparently, I should know these characters from elsewhere, but that wasn’t made clear to me till the end.
Who Should Read It: People who like Hallmark movies. People who like quick reads.
General Summary: A hallmark movie in the form of a book except without the scenery or the character development.
Christmas on Cape Cod is such a good romance. I enjoyed the plot, setting and the author’s writing. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my digital arc. This is an unbiased review.
Thank you NetGalley for ARC in exchange for my honest review
Nice holiday theme cozy set in Cape Cod which is always a winner. A widow and her son are making new memories with their new husband/father. Relatable and likable characters. Not too heavy. Cute light reading for holidays. Feels a bit underdeveloped but still a good read.
Nan Rossiter is a new author to me but not for long after reading Christmas in Cape Cod I will certainly be checking out other books by this author. I love Christmas and this story is about family and friends coming together to celebrate the holidays.
Asa Coleman has planned Christmas with his young son in Cape Cod and he invites his best friend Maddie Carlson to join them. Asa has only just found out Noah is his son and with this being their first Christmas as a family he wants it to be perfect and it just felt right for Maddie to be there with them to help start making new family traditions.
Christmas is a magical season and the magic certainly happens in this quick sweet magical read, the setting for this story is beautiful and the characters adorable and for it was a perfect holiday read. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Christmas on Cape Cod is a charming look at Asa’s first year as a new father, the discovery that his best friend might indeed mean much more to his heart and the magic that the Christmas season brings. Some of the characters in this novella were introduced (at a younger age) in The Gin & Chowder Club. For this novella I’m going to say that it’s helpful to have read the earlier work but not absolutely necessary. Yes, there are character developments that you won’t have… but in reality, that Asa was a young man, and now he’s a mature man with a young son to raise and the possibility of a romance on the horizon. Both are very good stories, so that choice is up to you.
Asa wants this first Christmas with Noah to be absolutely perfect. Now, we all know that never, ever becomes a reality but Asa is determined. He’s invited his best friend, Maggie, to their Christmas celebration on the Cape needing her steady presence as much as wanting her company for himself. Asa has no real clue how much Maggie cares for him, but this year he just might finally realize just how much Maggie means to him… far beyond friendship.
Christmas on Cape Cod is full of new family traditions while holding on to some from the past, laughter, a few tears and love growing between Asa and Noah… and with Maggie as well. I enjoyed this short story full of promise for the future, and watching a family be born. If you love the magic of Christmas, a beautiful setting and all the trappings that make up a festive season then you’ll fall in love with Asa, Maggie and Noah as well.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Christmas on Cape Cod is a novella that is a spin off of The Gin & Chowder Club by this author. Because of that there seems to be a bit missing in the character development but not so much that it takes away from this very enjoyable story. Asa coleman and his son Noah are just getting their footing as Asa gets the feel of being a single dad. In hopes of starting their own traditions Asa plans a trip to Cape Cod for the holidays. Asa invites his best pal Maddie along for the holiday fun. Perhaps it's the amount of time they spend together or just Christmas magic but Asa begins to see Maddie in a different light. Then when it's time to open presents the real magic begins.
Quick fun festive read that I think everyone will enjoy.
What's not to love? It's the most magical time of the year and also happens to be my most favourite holiday. I love any story that is cantered around Christmas; it’s a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate life.
This was a fun, quick read and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked Nan Rossiter’s style of writing and felt as though I was a part of the magic of Cape Cod.
Sometimes you can’t see the wood for the trees. Single, Asa Coleman is learning to be a dad to his son Noah with the help of his best friend Maddie Carlson. Maddie is in love with Asa but he has no clue.
I did feel as though I was missing their back story, their history and found out after reading that these characters first appeared in The Gin & Chowder Club so perhaps in hindsight I would read that book first. Don’t get me wrong it was enjoyable but it would have been even more so if I had read it.
As Asa, Maddie, Noah and Asa’s parents begin the Christmas celebrations, Asa is desperate for his first Christmas with Noah to be unforgettable. Full of family traditions,
This was a festive and sweet story that will get you in the mood for the holiday season.
Cape Cod sounds like a beautiful place to live or visit and I found this story to be full of hope, love and family; of strength and determination and all in all a heart warming read.
