It is a charming and delightful story of romance, family, and friends. Grab a box of tissues, as it is so very heartwarming. Sorry that I hadn't read the first in this series. I am definitely eager to read the next one and discover more about these interesting people, including the children.
Bastard.
Poor Sunday.
That's a lot of kids. Her mother sure was fertile.
Short courtship, Rumer and Sullivan.
I saw we Lojak these kids.
If Matthias came from wealth, why is his wife working from dawn to dusk?
Eww. Go away, Randall!
I would have liked his mother.
That went south quickly.
Huh. Clementine is the only one Sunday didn't recognize.
I could have told you that's where she was!
This is a book about family, the one your born with and the one you choose. Bad things happen to good people, how you deal with it, makes you, you. The story is about everyday people, some you love, some you like and some you cannot stand! The story was very compelling, you want to and need to know what is going to happen next. Even better the author is going to revisit this family and write more stories! Yay, I cannot wait. A must read!
Shirley McCoy is a such a brilliant wordsmith that at times I couldn't even read because of my tears. 'Home Again' was absolutely perfect. The characters, the plot, the descriptions were all engaging and beautiful. The town of Benevolence, Washington is a place I would love to visit, to share in the kindness of the people in the town. This second in The Bradshaws series was about goodness, and I can't wait until 'Home At Last.'
I love this author's books and she did not disappoint with Home Again. Great plot, characters and setting. It was hard to put this book aside. I highly recommend to romance readers. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my ARC. This is an unbiased review.
This book is a heartwarming, feel-good story of romance, family, hope, healing, and finding one’s heart and home. I loved the characters Clementine and Porter, as well as the rest of the family. I’m a long-time fan of Shirlee McCoy’s books, and this is one of the best, a story that will stay with me!
This is a perfectly sweet story about two people who fall in love while helping out a family devastated by a recent car accident. Porter is struggling to help the six scared and lonely nieces and nephews that he barely knows. Clementine wants to do something to help the woman who aided her when she needed a friend and that means Clementine will work to get Sunday's farm up and running while she is in a coma. The problem is that everything is sort of anticlimactic. All of the bad things have already happened and everyone is trying to deal with what comes after. There is no real conflict. Even the return of Clementine's husband does not add any real tension and quickly fizzles out. Clementine and Porter are not really even the stars of this book and their romance is not the main focus of this story. Most of the time is spent on the kids and Sunday because that is where the real drama is and to be honest, where all of the personalities are. Porter and Clementine never really seemed like fleshed out characters to me. The kids were fun to read about my heart hurt for them.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Home Again by Shirlee McCoy is the 2nd book in her wonderful The Bradshaws series. This series is set in the town of Benvolence, Washington, which was also the setting for her Home Sweet Home series. Background refresher: The three Bradshaw brothers lost their 4th brother, Matt to a terrible accident that also seriously injured their sister-in law. With Sunday (the sister in law) in a coma, it is up to the brothers to take care of their 6 adopted kids. In the previous book, Sullivan stepped in take care of the ranch and the kids, with help from Rumer. In Home Again, Sullivan and Rumer have gotten married, and are taking a two week honeymoon.
Enter Porter Bradshaw, our hero, who takes time off from his security job in L.A. to spend two weeks with the kids.
Clementine Warren, a friend of Sunday, is taking care of the farm to help bring it back to its prosperity. Clementine is divorced, swearing off any men, especially her bad ex, who tries to come back for money. Clementine is determined to help out with the farm and the kids, as long as needed, as she feels obligated to help Sunday. Then she will leave Benevolence to go back to her teaching job.
Porter tries to pay Clementine for all the hard work she is doing, but she refuses. When he sees her ex badgering her, Porter will come to her rescue. In a short time, they will become friends, helping each other with the kids and the farm. The friendship will slowly escalate to a slow burn romance, with Porter trying to get Clementine to trust him, and open her heart.
The children in this story were all cute and fun. Things will change with Sunday, and it did become a very emotional story for everyone.
What follows is the slow build sweet romance between Porter and Clementine, which was mostly in the background, but very nice. I loved Porter & Clementine and all the children made this such a wonderful emotional and heartwarming story.
Shirlee McCoy gives us another wonderful story, surrounded by a great family that is deeply in turmoil and the lovely atmosphere of a small town. As the story ends, we know that Sunday will play a bigger role, and it should be Flynn’s story. If you enjoy small town romances, family atmosphere, young children, sweet likeable couple, as well a nice story line; I suggest you start this series.
I liked this book but not as much as the first one. It's like everyone is moving in slow speed trying to get life back to a normal. This had a bit too much angst for me.
Home Again is the second book about the Bradshaw brothers. Their youngest brother Matthias is killed in an accident and his wife is alive, but in a coma. In this book Porter Bradshaw has come home to help take care of his brothers six children.
Clementine is living on the family farm trying to help with the farm until her friend Sunday is well and back to take care of things herself. She is attracted to Porter, but because of her failed marriage, she doesn't want to be in another relationship.
This book can be read as a stand alone, but I found that after I read the first book, things made a little more sense for me. I did enjoy the children in the story, they are all unique and interesting in their own ways. Each one having been adopted by Sunday and Matthias.
The only reason I wouldn't give this book five stars is there were times I found myself lost. The transitions in the story we're sometimes confusing to me. They were so similar that there were times I wasn't sure if we were in a new scene or a different one.
If you are looking for a sweet romance with some unique characters, this is a great read. I enjoyed it.
Thanks to Netgalley and publishers for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.
A beautiful story of love after loss that not only touched me deeply but made me smile. Shirlee McCoy is a new to me author but you can bet on the fact that I will be purchasing the first book in the series after reading this one and continuing the series until it ends.
Home Again is the second book in the Bradshaw series by Shirlee McCoy. The series is about three brothers, who following the accident that killed their fourth brother and seriously injured their sister-in-law; Sunday, come together to help care for the couples six adopted kids. It isn't necessary to read the first book in the series in order to enjoy Home Again, but I found it to be helpful.
This book features Porter Bradshaw, who works in security and protection in L.A. He's staying on the farm to care for the kids while his brother Sullivan elopes and has a honeymoon.
Clementine Warren, who has been renting a house on the property, is taking care of the farm, which has been sadly neglected. She's divorced and has some serious issues with her ex. He is a dirt bag of the first order, but it's like she can't admit that she's angry about his actions. It bothered me that someone who seemed very self aware in all other areas of her life, stuck with a man who wasn't for her for so long.
I'm very conflicted about my feelings for Home Again. For a romance novel, it felt like a little short on romance. The story was very focused on the kids and Sunday. It was an enjoyable story, but I feel like it was missing something. If I figure it out, I'll be sure to report back.
