This one started slow but definitely picked up. It was a cute story. Would recommend to my friends and family for a quick read.
Another great Hallmark romance!
Two very different people…
One very special place.
Dylan’s an overworked investment banker. Paige is a free-spirited first-grade teacher. From the first time they meet, these two opposites attract.
Meanwhile, the cabin Paige is renting has gone up for sale. She loves living there, and she just might be able to buy it—if she finally achieves her dream of selling her children’s stories. When she learns Dylan is also determined to buy the cabin, their new romance turns into a real estate rivalry.
Dylan could tell her about his own connection to the place…but that would mean opening up about his past. As his relationship with Paige goes from funny to touching, they both discover more about love, hope, and the true meaning of home.
Loved the characters and the setting. I can't wait to try out the recipe for muffins as well!
I am really enjoying all the Hallmark books. When I finish a book I watch the movie if I can find it. I love how Dylan and Paige work through what is placed before them. This book is fun and will warm your heart.
It is a great Hallmark read! Happy Reading!!
With all the news about Covid 19, self-quarantine and people dying, I needed to read something light, and with a happy ending. Sunrise Cabin fit the bill nicely. Paige Reynolds rents a cabin west of Denver, She is a school teacher, who does not make a lot of money and doesn't think she will ever own her own home. When her landlord tells her he is selling the Cabin and his house to move to an assisted living facility close to his daughter, she does all she can to buy her home. Unfortunately, she is up against an investment banker, Dylan, who has ties to the cabin from his youth. Not only does he really want the cabin, but he has much deeper pockets. As they get to know one another and find out why each of them wants to buy the home, they come to an understanding as their feelings towards to each other grow.
I really connected with Paige. Being a young teacher myself, once upon a time, I understood much of her life. She was also a writer and artist of children's books, although she had not sold one yet. That was the catch, if she sold a story, she would be able to buy the cabin. I liked how the relationship grew between Paige and Dylan. It was very realistic, although as is normal in Hallmark stories, it was pretty quick. They had some issues along the way, some friends and family rooting for them and they were both faithful believers, although that is not a huge part of the story. I loved how Paige told it like it was. She didn't mince words when Dylan asked her questions and some of her comments had me chuckling. I was rooting for them to get together and buy the cabin together, but was not sure where Stacey Donovan was going to take them. Overall, a sweet story, with a happily ever after that satisfied this reader. If you enjoy a sweet romance, then you will enjoy this story.
I really liked Paige she was very written as a likable character and I think that came across the wonders is that you kind of voted for both of them to outbid each other, although being a Hallmark book and you knew they would end up together! Sometimes I wish the romance of the couple was not so easily predictable but I loved how Paige had used her no-nonsense tone on Dylan to get her point across. I really liked the Growing strains of Dylan's past you could really feel his bitterness but warmth as he developed relationships with his father and himself. The only critique is that I can't find this movie anywhere on the Hallmark watch app!
This was a quick and absolutely wonderful read. I loved the characters and the setting was magically described by the author, Stacey Donovan. If you want a book with a quaint story that makes you smile, give Sunrise Cabin a try.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my own request, from Hallmark Publishing via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
Cute, and clean. This book is based on a Hallmark movie. I've not seen the movie so I can't say how closely the book follows but I suspect it is spot on. This book reminds me of the saying home is where the heart is. What a beautiful, heartwarming tale of a cute cabin with beautiful sunrises and fond, warm memories of the people who once lived there.
Again, Hallmark movies scarcely fail. And the same must be said of their novels - if you’re looking for a sweet and cliched (in the best possible way) novel with a guaranteed happily ever after, you can’t go wrong with Sunrise Cabin. I mean, with one look at the name, you instantly get a sense of the vibe of the novel - sweet, warm, romantic and cosy.
The story centres on Paige - a fun and free primary school teacher and her polar opposite - Dylan an overworked investment banker. Of course, several adventures of apple picking, school plays and cosy nights ensue. The whole concept of trying to prove to one another that they deserve the cabin more probes to be very interesting… I have to say I loved Paige’s spirit and attitude - even if she somehow loves Monday’s… Dylan as her opposite proved to be a great match however if I had one qualms about him it might be that he just seemed to transition too quickly from the slightly prickly and uptight investment banker in the beginning to the slightly gentler and kinder man in the end.
Overall it was a lovely novel with a sweet few leading characters - it’s absolutely perfect for a lovely autumn or winters evening to curl up with a big mug of tea.
Note: I received an ARC from the publisher and author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
Sunrise Cabin by Stacey Donovan

My Rating: 3½/5 stars
**MINI-REVIEW**
The Bottom Line: I love the consistency in these Hallmark books! I knew when I dove into this book, I would get likeable characters, a decent plot without too much crazy or drama, and a happily ever after that is both deserved and ever so sweet. I think what I liked most about this book is the setting, the actual cabin. The cabin becomes something of a living thing as Dylan and Paige try and work out who is going to be the owner of the cabin. The history and age of the cabin become very real aspects of the read and absolutely impact both Dylan and Paige. While it isn’t a massive home or super expensive property, it is an entity filled with love, laughter, and so much promise for the future. While the cabin remains steady and strong, Dylan and Paige have to work through a whole host of issues both personally and professionally to get to their HEA. While I enjoyed Dylan quite a bit (especially his awesome job exit!) I found Paige a bit hard to really like; I tend to struggle with characters like Paige who are as naively optimistic as she is. Paige’s personality is my only real complaint about this otherwise charming and sweet read.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
I have been reading Hallmark books almost from the inception of this service last year, and until now, all of the books have been novelizations of popular Hallmark movies. I have not been disappointed in the offerings of Hallmark publishing, but this newest publication is special for two reasons. First of all, it is written by Stacey Donovan who is responsible for bringing the concept of Hallmark Publishing to life. And secondly, this is the first original book offered by the publishing company. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to share my thoughts!
From the opening pages, I was already engrossed. After all, the protagonist is a schoolteacher who is trying to become a children's author. Immediately, I felt a kinship with Paige. After all, I myself am a former teacher (who still does substitute teaching on the side), and I am attempting to become a writer myself. In truth, Stacey could not have created a more engaging heroine for this book!
The next thing that captured my attention was the advent of the man who would become Paige's love interest, Dylan. While he is the typical Hallmark "leading man" who is engrossed in business and has forgotten the simpler things, his chance meeting with Paige and their ensuing relationship with its typical (but entertaining) ups and downs is absolute Hallmark gold! Their interactions had just the right amount of emotion, humor, and competitiveness.
Finally, the fact that the entire story revolves around this cabin outside of town with its rustic charm, uncomplicated life, and beautiful vistas was a stroke of genius penned by the amazing Stacey. More than once, I found myself transported to this world and riveted by every detail within the story. As far as I'm concerned, Hallmark needs to seriously consider adapting this book for one of their Fall Harvest movies next year as it is the absolute quintessential Hallmark story.
In conclusion, I want to highlight a couple other points that resonated with me on a profound level. While this book does not seek to promote any kind of religious sentiment, the fact that church is considered a normal part of life that one of the characters has somewhat neglected is a special treat for me. Additionally, Paige's daily ritual of speaking out loud the things in her life for what she is grateful is a lost art in today's fast-paced society. The fact that a belief in a Higher Power is something that is almost a foregone conclusion in this book is a delectable ingredient for me, and I am grateful it was included.
Enjoyed this book and enjoyed meeting a new author for me. Can’t wait until her next one. Thank you.
A sweet Autumn romance between two people unlikely to cross paths, and yet fate will bring them together in a little real estate competition. The log cabin serves as a catalyst for their respective personal issues. Overall, the characters are well-developed and the plot entertaining. A lovely novel that would certainly translate well as a Hallmark movie.
I really enjoyed the descriptions of the spectacular surroundings. In line with the Hallmark spirit, you always get this romantic vision of small town life, tight-knit communities and family bonds, as opposed to the hectic, business-driven city life.
A feel-good novel that can easily resonate with a lot of people.
Aww....I absolutely loved this story. Paige was completely adorable. Having been a first grade teacher, I enjoyed the scenes when she was with her little students. Dylan was the perfect counterpart to Paige, and their story was full of charm and wistfulness. This story has a good, healthy dose of faith, hope, and love. Paige reminded me to count my blessings every morning. This is an inspirational story that will make your day a little sweeter. I’m hoping that Stacey Donovan will write more books for Hallmark.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
They say opposites attract and this time they really do!! Dylan is an investment banker and Paige is a free -spirited 1st grade teacher. They both love a particular cabin and don't realize this when they meet and start dating. But all of a sudden they're on opposite sides and wanting to purchase the cabin for themselves. Such a good story. The author does an amazing job of getting you hooked on the story from page 1. You don't want to put it down till your on the last page.
Sunset Cabin is a sweet upbeat story of two people who meet in a coffee shop and are instantly attracted to each other. Paige has a look at life from a glass half full viewpoint starting out each sunrise at her rented cabin naming everyone and everything for which she is grateful. She is a first grade teacher and a writer of unpublished children's books. Dylan works in the banking industry and makes good money. Paige drops in the coffee shop to purchase cupcakes for one of student's birthday knowing that the child's parents would not send a snack to celebrate. When the price is more than she expected, Dylan steps up to buy the cupcakes for her. The child's situation is similar to his own growing up. His mother died when he was three years old and his father retreated into himself, meeting the needs of his two children but barely. He is touched by Paige's caring. Both of them left the coffee shop not exchanging phone numbers but keep thinking of each other and hoping to meet up again. They have a chance meeting again at the shop and develop a friendship.
The owner of Paige's cabin is an older man who decides to sell his house next door and the cabin so that he can move to be near his daughter. Paige would love to buy the cabin if she could afford it. If she could sell her books to a publisher, she would be able to buy it. Unbeknownst to her, Dylan also has a connection to the cabin. His grandparents owned it before the current owner bought it. Dylan and his sister, Dee, spent many happy summers there. Dylan is also interested in buying it when it goes on the market. When Paige finds out, she is devastated. Will this tear them apart? Who should be able to buy it? Paige is living in it and loves it. Dylan's family once owned it. He can afford it but it would mean an end to their friendship that is growing into some than a friendship.
This is a story of redemption, forgiveness, hope and discovering what is important in life. Their relationship is a meshing of two different people who are a positive effect on each other. Her upbeat outlook shows Dylan that he doesn't have to work at a job where he dislikes his boss, some of his co-workers, and even some of the work even though he is making great money and on the track to making VP. I enjoyed this lovely story and seeing how the issues are resolved.
I received a complimentary ARC from Hallmark Publishing through NetGalley. The opinions stated are mine only.
Stacey Donovan writes the most atmospheric book in a romantic setting. It is not frequent that I read a sweet mushy love story. But being Christmas, I wanted to read something which would give me hope for the new year. And Stacey's book made me long for my own love.
Paige, a teacher, was sweet, fun, and absolute loving. I loved her joie de vivre for life and her students. Dylan was bang opposite to her with a drive to succeed.
Their friendship to competitiveness for the cabin made the story an interesting read. Their romance was adorable. I like a relationship which is based on respect. Both Paige and Dylan and their friends made this story warm, humorous, and cheerful.
But it was the cabin which absolutely stole my heart. It was described so beautifully by the author that I could just imagine nature at her absolute best with vivid rustic landscapes and sunrises which made me long to stay there.
Overall an awesome love story perfect for a cozy afternoon.
This book is destined to become a classic Hallmark movie. It has everything a Hallmark reader/viewer looks for: warmth, coziness, sweet natured characters, and love. It was a true joy reading this book.
Truly enjoyed this story. Would love to see it become a Hallmark movie. The emotions were so real, and the characters were people I would expect to see in my every day life. Stacey Donovan has a way of telling a story where you would actually believe you were living it. Highly recommend this story to all!!!
Sunrise Cabin is a story that spoke to me from the very first page. I'm a lover of homes and cozy cabins and remote locations. I've moved often in my life and not finding my little piece of heaven on earth is a big regret, so I connected with Paige who had found her refuge, giving a daily gratitude mantra for the blessings in her life. When she meets Dylan, she can see even more of a future, until a dilemma, a mutual goal, threatens to keep them apart. This was a sweet story of nostalgia, gratitude, family, purpose intertwines to bring the couple together. I was extremely happy with the ending and was left with a hopeful conclusion.
Thank you to Hallmark Publishing, Netgalley, and the author for the opportunity to read and review this wonderful Romance.
Paige is perfectly happy living in her rented little cabin, working as a teacher hoping to one day get a children's books published. That changes when she's told the cabin is going to be sold. She's desperate to get her books sold to come up with the down payment to buy the cabin.
On the upside she's met Dylan, an overworked investment banker. When he shows up at the open house for Paige's cabin after their first date Paige has no interest in dating her now cabin buying enemy. But Dylan has his own reasons for wanting to buy the cabin.
This was a sweet story. Just not one that I necessarily connected with.
I found paige to be somewhat naive, selfish & annoying on one hand but on the other she was a very sweet & caring teacher. She was angry when she thought Dylan was going to get the cabin, but didn't think twice about taking it for herself even after knowing why it was so important to him.
Dylan was sweet & understanding of the situation. Even willing to be forgiving of Paige's selfishness & success.
I just really didn't care for this book, first rating it 3 stars but after some thinking I'm going to bump it down to 2 stars.
