This was the first book I've read by Mary Hughes, I didn't know it was part of a series when I started. It took me a bit to get into the story, but I managed to finish the book. I wasn't too impressed with Alexis' thoughts and reactions to Luke. She's a successful and competent ER doctor, yet acts like a simpering teenager whenever she's in his presence.

Passion Bites by Mary Hughes is book 9 in the Biting Love Series. This is the story of Alexis Byornsson and Luke Steel. I haven't yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Alexis is a doctor who was treating Luke's niece when their attraction for each other hit. Luke is taken back by what he is feeling for Alexis because he is to only have one mate in is time and that one died a long time ago. Since his mate's death he has felt anything for another women until Alexis. Alexis has a life plan to open a shelter for women and children which she can't loose site of by her attraction to Luke. Alexis job as a Dr. something she takes seriously and she can't loose the pay if she gonna open that shelter. But are their feelings more than just attractions...danger is looking their way too.

Passion Bites by Mary Hughes, this is the 9th book in this series. It has been almost 8-9 years since I read the first book, its been a while obviously since I've been in this world, I have always enjoyed Mary's writing, it is always fun and sexy. This is the story about Alexis and Luke, I am in sure if we have meet them in the previous books, I'm guessing we have. Mates are forever ... or are they?

I hate diving into books when they say they are standalones, but part of a series. overall I enjoyed it, but I feel like I should have read the others before I tempted this one, but that's ok. The series does take place in a town called Meier's Corner that's where Alexis is a doctor, and Luke is a vampire. Looking for a sexy time, this is the one for you.

Ok I read a lot of paranormal books but honestly hadn’t heard of this author before. This book happens to be the ninth in her Biting Love series I believe and yes from that title I’d guessed it featured vampires. I do think I might have enjoyed it slightly more if I’d discovered and read the previous books but actually I did understand this story so yes it worked as a stand-alone.
Essentially we have Alexis, a hard working ER doctor determined to open a women’s centre and she nearly has everything in place but things start to get thrown off course when a patient connected with vampires arrives needing treatment. The young girl is quickly followed by her uncle and here unfortunately is when I started to roll my eyes. Luke is big, blonde and without a doubt buff but Alexis constantly likens him to a Greek god or an angel and her thoughts just felt very teenage like. She’s a mature, intelligent woman so I struggled to reconcile her thoughts with everything else going on. Ok there is an interesting plot going on with baddies to discover and of course the central couple overcoming the damage and heartache they have both suffered so it wasn’t a terribly story but honestly found it at times perhaps a little too fanciful for my taste.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
