Ruby is a sweet, impulsive girl who in the past caused disasters to her family and hometown. Now, Ruby is living with her brother and his family to have a new start. Christian is the new teacher in their Amish community. Christian is intelligent, analytical, logical, and stiff. Both Christian and Ruby want to find spouses, but are socially awkward. When Christian and Ruby try to help each other find spouses, it creates some amusing situations. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This book contains amusing, and sometimes embarrassing moments. One of my favorite moments is when Ruby suggests to the students while substitute teaching that they have a bring a pet to school day. Ruby is very sweet, warm, and always ready to give someone a second chance. Christian is a nice man, but unaware of how to handle social situations. Together, they give each other support, encouragement, and friendship. It takes them a long time to realize that they are perfect for each other.
Ruby seemed to be a walking disaster—so many things “ just happened” to her. Chris was quite socially inept, especially when it came to talking with girls. So how could they ever come together as a couple? That’s the fun in reading this great book by Kathleen Fuller. It’s not your typical Amish story and that’s what made this book so appealing. I loved the storyline in this one. Kathleen Fuller’s books are always sweet and charming, and this is one of her most enjoyable yet.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
This book was such a heartwarming, sweet and maddening read!
I adored Ruby and could easily imagine myself spending time with her because she has an easy-going nature that I appreciate. She’s also prone to making some not so wise decisions. Christian is the complete opposite as he carefully plans every single aspect of his life and having fun isn’t a top priority for him. It doesn’t take long for these two to cross paths and when they do, this is where I laughed and wanted to reach into the pages and give them both a little shake!
Will they be friends or won’t they be friends? They could be two of the most indecisive characters but it kept me interested throughout.
I was pleased with the storyline of having a male teacher which was a nice change from the typical female teacher that seems to be the norm in Amish fiction. As a fan of Ms. Fuller and this series I admit that I loved the lighthearted addition to the Amish of Birch Creek. I recommend this to fans of Amish and Christian fiction.
I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley. I was not required to write a review and all opinions are my own.
This was not the typical Amish fiction book. The two main characters, Ruby and Christian were very odd and socially immature. Their awkwardness was very uncomfortable at times. My favorite character was Ruby's sister-in-law, Patience because of her patience and faith in Ruby. The author gave a tease in the epilogue. Readers be anxiously awaiting Seth's story. Recommended!
Christian Ropp has come to Birch Creek to teach in the Amish community. Ruby Glick has come to Birch Creek to live with her brother and to escape the reputation of being a clumsy, accident-prone young lady! They both are looking for a husband/wife and you can imagine what happens. Christian and Ruby are part of the same social group and when those two get together, there is plenty of fun and sweet times! A very good Christian romance with lovable characters!
The Teacher's Bride by Kathleen Fuller will be available December 4, 2018 from Zondervan Fiction. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.
The Teacher’s Bride is the fourth installment from Amish of Birch Creek series by Kathleen Fuller. I believe this is my favorite of the series to date. I enjoyed this heartwarming, inspiring and delightful story. Christian and Ruby was so sweet. There are some laugh out loud moments, as well as, some tender ones.
I am giving The Teacher’s Bride five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who love clean and sweet Amish fiction.
The Teachers Bride is the fourth book in the Amish of Birch Creek seriea, it can be read as a stand alone novel. Ruby comes to Birch Creek, to stay with her brother and his family, she is looking for a husband. Ruby is known to be accident prone and is constantly getting into one fix or another. Ruby is trying to change, how she is viewed by others. Christian is a teacher and is confident around the children in his class, but is awkward around adults and in carrying on a conversation. Ruby offers to teach, Christian how to act around Martha, a young lady he is interested in dating. To Ruby and Christian's surprise, they find it easy to talk to each other. Christian is still awkward and has a hard time expressing his feelings. A quick read that was enjoyable.
This modern Amish tale has everything fans of this subgenre enjoy. There is the structure of the community life as well as the relationships of families and friends. The romance is prominent in the novel and has a slight Austen’s Emma- like plot featuring matchmaking and a special friendship between a man and woman. Christian and Ruby are both considered odd in their community. Christian does not have certain social graces and being a teacher is an unique career path for Amish men. Ruby lacks some physical graces and has caused several disasters. They are both looking for spouses, but first find friendship in each other. Serious issues like mental health and family conflict are balanced with witty dialogue and comical scenes.
I have really enjoyed reading this book. From the first till the last page I was drawn to it.
Ruby, one of the main characters, is a bit lost in her own world. She had a hard time finding her calling, due to the fact that she messes things up. She decides to visit her brother and his family in another community. Her goal there is to find a suitable husband. She meets a young schoolteacher, Christiaan, who is teaching in the small amish school. One of Christiaan's goals is to find himself a woman. Ruby tries to help him with good advices to aproach a local girl. When Christiaan has a small accident during schoolhours, and is forced to stay at home, Ruby takes over his teaching. With a small incidents aside Ruby finds her calling, and falls in love with the man who has given her a second chance.
What I like about this book is that it isn't a traditional Amish book with the main charactar living at home, rides with the buggy etc. Its more a modern story.
Get ready for a fun story in The Teacher's Bride by Kathleen Fuller! If there is one thing Christian Ropp will not allow in his classroom—or his life—it is chaos. So why is he drawn to Ruby Glick, a woman who seems to bring mayhem wherever she goes?
Christian Ropp takes a teaching position in a growing Amish community. He is a by-the-books person and wants to bring order to the rambunctious school. He would also like to check a task off of his list, find a wife.
Ruby Glick brings a track record of catastrophe with her as she arrives in Birch Creek. When Christian becomes out of commission as the school teacher, Ruby takes over his classroom. As you can imagine things get interesting as Ruby has an exuberant personality and Christian is set on bringing order to the classroom. Christian may be out of commission, but that doesn't mean he isn't in Ruby's way.
The Teacher's Bride was a fun Amish Fiction read. The characters were well developed and had their own personalities. Ruby was a fun character and Fuller did a great job of bringing her story to life.
This book is very good. I really enjoyed that the teacher was actually a man. I really felt for Ruby, It seems like no one had any faith in her abilities especially her family. Her sister-in-law was a great help and she was a help to her sister in-law.
I highly recommend this book, It is an enjoyable Amish tale with some surprising twists and turns.
Thank you Netgalley and Zondervan Fiction for allowing me to read this title for an honest review.
The Teacher’s.Bride..by Kathleen.Fuller...Zondervan
Ruby known for being a walking disaster, came to her brother’s house unannounced. Telling Patience, he didn’t want her there, now going against her husband wishes, and letting his sister stay. Ruby, telling herself, she had to learn to do better, and be accepted. She had a plan, a potential husband byChristmas
Chris is the teacher, and living with his sister. On coming home, and instructing her how to cut vegetables.why would she be annoyed with him
He didn’t connect with people, having nickname "iceman",and figured why bother, he had his books. Without being socialable how could he get goal #4 done, marriage, one of mutual respect not love.
Picking up a book Chris dropped before falling asleep, wanting to laugh at the title. An idea to tutor him, about women, and what they want. Chris now is stunned why did he accept her offer. Delightful, the courtship of how he uses logic, and reasoning to Ruby.
A kiss, and telling him, people don’t do that unless they like each other. For her it is love, will he ever learn,. You will laugh, as you read this story. Given ARC by Net Galley and Zondervan for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
This book was heartwarming, funny and nerve-wracking. It’s about Christian, an Amish male teacher who is a bit orderly, compulsive and keeps to himself. While, Ruby is clumsy, talkative, kind and does things before thinking it through. They meet on Saturdays to give lessons on how to get the attention of the person they are interested in because neither was very good around them except when they were with each other. The problem is they are falling for each other but don’t acknowledge it. It was an interesting book and I enjoyed reading it. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading a good Amish romance.
I received an ebook copy of this book through Net Galley from Zondervan Publishing. This is my honest opinion.
An excellent read and a storyline that I haven't seen before, but no less enjoyed. Set in a small town and an unexpected love journey begins between the local teacher Christian Ropp and slightly clumsy Ruby Glick cross paths more in then once, and a friendship ensues between the two. I immensely enjoyed the storyline, characters and was a great quick read and I'm excited to read more books by this author.
I absolutely adore Kathleen Fuller's Amish novels. She writes believable characters with a twist of humor. In The Teacher's Bride, Ruby is the kind of woman who acts without thinking through the consequences of her actions.
Christian is the local teacher who never moves without a thorough examination of all possible consequences. Christian wants a wife and he has a specific girl in mind, but all of his attempts fall through.
Ruby wants a husband, but she's willing to set aside her wants to help Christian become approachable toward the girl he wants to court.
Sometimes I will cherry-pick my reading list to find something a bit lighter in depth. This book fit that particular attribute to a T. It was hard to put down and kept me involved in the story from beginning to end. Five Stars, Two Thumbs Up, and a raspberry pie.
My thanks to Zondervan Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book.
Fun, realistic look at the Amish community of Birch Creek and several of the single men and women who live in the community. For readers of Kathleen Fuller, characters of previous series are revisited - which makes the book even more fun to read. Definitely could be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone, but if you have read The Amish of Birch Creek series, The Teacher's Bride is even more fun to read. Well written story of a male teacher and a young lady who is searching for a husband, but more importantly, trying to find her place in a new community. Full of fun, family, and romance!
The Teacher's Bride is a cute story by my favorite Amish author Kathleen Fuller. I haven't read all of her books yet, but I have read quite a few. With that said, this one was a bit different. This one was quite humorous and was fun to read. The hero, Christian is a school teacher who is a bit obsessive compulsive and an introvert. The heroine, Ruby is pretty much opposite. Besides being a bit of a klutz, she is a sweet and positive people person. They both have awkward social skills, but they seem to complement each other very well. They get into some shenanigans along the way, but come out all the more stronger and more competent. I enjoyed this story and I feel anyone needing a relaxing fun book to read will enjoy this book as well.
This story had the best characters! I loved both of the main protagonists and their personalities and missteps kept me thoroughly entertained. I truly hope this series continues, it was delightful!
The Teacher's Bride is not your typical Amish romance. Kathleen Fuller's quirky main characters surprised me and kept this book interesting. Christian and Ruby are both rather odd ducks - very socially awkward, except around each other - and they both made me smile...many times.
While starting off a little bit rocky, this book fell into a nice cadence that followed Ruby and Christian through some difficult times as they find themselves and each other. There is a lot of focus on Selah and Martha, too, leading me to wonder whether there will be other books in a possibly new series that focuses on each of those two ladies. There are subjects covered that I haven't seen in Amish fiction, such as depression, anxiety, and the everyday struggles that an Amish teacher faces in the schoolroom...it was refreshing to see new topics addressed. Overall, I enjoyed the book and watching the main characters' journey together.
