I was approved on NetGalley for this ebook, but did not get a chance to download it and read it, so I later bought it from Amazon. This is therefore a much delayed review. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the book!

Set in the time of World War 1 & 2, Ty, a gambler and locksmith, finds himself in debt and manipulated by one side of the three groups seeking the sleeping gods. He goes to the Underworld to steal a key from the beautiful Naia, daughter of Eros, leader of a side that may determine the fate of the gods - to die, to be manipulated, or to be freed from their sleep with their stolen memories returned. To win his freedom, and possibly free the gods, Ty faces monsters like a harpy, centaurs, and a daughter of Selene. Ty and Naia gamble on the two gods who may have escaped, Ares and Prometheus to find out the truth of the conjoined queens who have ruled the country since the gods lost their memories.

I loved the little name hints of who people were like Alatheia (truth) and Enyalius, Lamia and Aello. Kalyptra, I didn't know. Nikos & Kairos were also significant. I liked that the conjoined queen was in appearance like the statues of Hecate, although I was mistaken in thinking her to be Hecate, or related to the Molionidae.

I didn't really know why the book was set 1914-1939 (Ty was not a soldier), perhaps to give a hint to underworld politics, but I believe it says later that the queen had ruled for fifty years...? So there's enough unanswered questions to have another book/short story, how things change with the country, how Ty's friend and former girlfriend react to Naia...
