I’m not a handyman, but this is a good book, with detailed plans and material lists for each project.
Rather too complicated for me, but some interesting ideas. lovely to look at and easy to read. Hadnot realised it was American
Great book with plans to build all kinks of furniture. Seems very straight forward and easy to follow instructions. Several of the pieces are going on my honey do list. Thanks to NetGalley for the free download and to the author and publisher.
This was an approachable how-to book for simple furniture projects. I found the style of the furniture to be a little dated and I think there are a lot of resources available online for contemporary furniture building projects. It is nice to have a one-stop resource though.
I must confess that this review was aided by my husband. I know nothing about woodworking but my take on this book is that I COULD do it. I had my husband look at it and he says it is a very good book.; well laid out, lists of needed materials, good pictures. If one doesn’t own a lot of woodworking tools, it is okay. There are not a lot of expensive tools required to do the projects in this book. Highly recommend.
Not only are there detailed instructions in I Can Do That, but there are graphed sketches to show measurements and photos. There are loads of photos of both finished projects and the steps that will get you there.
Chad Stanton gives possible problem scenarios (not fitting because you cut on the wrong side of your pencil line) and solutions.
The projects in here aren't your rough Adirondack chair and picnic table. They're unique and beautiful. We don't currently need any furniture, but I just may have to find a place anyway. Definitely purchasing this book.
Showed this to a friend who has just retired and is at a loss as to what to do with his time. He said “I could do that”. His wife tells me he is in the garage, waiting for a copy sharpening his tools and practicing his joints. What more can I say except maybe thanks for Colin’s wife Gill !

A practical guide on how to create from scratch furniture for indoors and outdoors. The book contains illustrated and easy to follow tutorials accompanied by useful tips. I liked the Pic Nic table tutorial. A very good book!
