This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended
This is the first book I've read by KC and OMG what a bloody good book. Characters are believable and relatable. Plot amazing and the final twist took me completely by surprise. Full of secrets, lies and bullying behaviour. I read in two sittings, I was desperate to know what was going to happen next and I struggled to put it down. I'd highly recommend this brilliant author.
I was completely gripped by this story and was impressed with the writing quality. I was entertained throughout the story and would not hesitate to recommend this book.
Omg talk about a roller coaster read wow this book kept me on the edge of my seat threw out I just couldn't put it down this writer keeps you hooked and once your hooked your not letting go I found this book thrilling the characters were fantastic and well thought out and the little clues all the way threw keep you guessing until the end this book stays with you long after you close the book this book is well worth the read I promise you wont be disappointed
An absolutely stunning thriller.
I’ve read several books by this author and have enjoyed each one.
This was was so tightly knitted not one stitch was dropped. The reader sure is going to be twisted in knots and not know who to believe. I certainly didn’t.
There’s lots of reviews for this book outlining the storyline and for me to add to this would take away your excitement of reading it and I don’t want to drop spoilers inadvertently.
If you’ve not read this, and you love a thriller/mystery book you can get your teeth into. Look no further.
It’s also narrated well on audio. Your library might have it.
Zoe's life will never be the same after her son Ethan is found dead along with his friend Josh. Trying to move on from the drowning accident, Zoe and her family move to try to and make a fresh start. Then, out of the blue, an email arrives stating that it might not have been an accident after all.
Zoe needs to find out the truth but her husband is not keen to help.
This well written thriller has strong characters and tension from the start. So many questions need to be answered and you invest in Zoe's heartbreak as the story unfolds. This is my first novel by Kathryn Croft but I will be on the lookout for more from this talented author.
This was another interesting and entertaining read by a talented author. It was full of twists and turns and keeps the reader interested until the end! Recommended.
Wow...twists and turns aplenty and that ending...what an unexpected finale. Love Kathryn Croft s writing.
I really enjoyed this book. I started off thinking it was a bit boring but by the first chapter I was enthralled - how do you cope when as a family you lose your son, you and your husband and other son have to find a way to move on. Suddenly out of the blue you get informed that it wasn't an accident. Everything you believed is shaken. I loved the whole build up and just wanted to keep reading to the end- The end can often be unsatisfying but this was great and believable (always an important thing for me!)
Thrilling story with a plot that kept me turning the pages, really well written with great characters. Highly recommend to everyone who is a fan of this genre.
She only goes and does is again!
What a read Kathryn, she never fails to amaze me.
3 years ago Zoe and Jakes son Ethan who is 14 and his friend Josh were found dead in a river nearby their home. It’s ruled an accident as no witnesses saw what happened.
Zoe and Jake move away to try and get over the death and start to rebuild their lives when Zoe gets an email telling her she needs to find out the truth about the “accident”.
This is a brilliant read once more full of twists and turns and all the other things we love about Kathryn’s books!
A must read, waiting already for her next one!!!
This is a good modern thriller. I really enjoyed it. There are a lot of twists and turns. It's a good read which I would recommend.
New author for me but pleasantly surprised. Thank you for the approval and look forward to a book relationship with other reads in the future,
I read this last year and rated it 4/5 i didnt write a full review at the time.I enjoyed it and have continued to read by this author
Zoe and her family suffered what no one should have to, the loss of a child. Not being able to stay in the same house, they move to try and get on with their lives. Their focus shifting to the remaining child that they have.
All of that hard worked for piece is shattered the minute Zoe gets an email. An email that will have her searching for the truth no matter what. A truth that she never considered existed until now.
A story full of twists, turns and secrets. You'll have a hard time believing who is genuine and who is out for revenge. A gripping read that will have you guessing until the end.
Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review.
I am a huge fan of this author and have read all of her books to date. This book was thrilling and very enjoyable, but it was not her best.
I higly recommend this author. Her books are always suspenseful and utterly readable
This book kept my interest but unfortunately was very slow. It needed more twists and much more suspense. This book was just okay.
Wow this book blew me away imagine your teenage son 14 years old drowns along with his friend your whole world collapses and then you move away to try to escape the heartbreak and memories then 3 years later you receive an email telling you it wasn't an accident and when you try to follow it up your husband, the police and even the other boy's mother won't take you seriously!!!! This is the predicament facing Zoe when she losing her son Ethan...then she starts getting texts that make her question everything she ever knew about her son! This was a fast paced addictive thriller that had me spinning the whole way through absolutely loved it and can't recommend it highly enough!
Thank you to Bookouture, Kathryn Croft and NetGalley for the arc of The Warning my review is honest and unbiased in any way.
Kathryn Croft does it again with another riveting psychological thriller! She is a must-read author of mine! This one was probably my least favourite of hers, and that's saying something because it was still fantastic!
Zoe's son Ethan drowned with his best friend three years ago and Zoe had only just started getting her life back on track. All of a sudden she gets a mysterious email. "You need to find out the truth about what happened to your son". All of a sudden she is on a quest to discover what really happened to Ethan.
Really enjoyed this one. As usual, Croft dives straight into it and we are soon wondering what on earth is going on and who did it. There is a large range of characters to choose from and there are many twists and turns along the way.
Although I'm not sure if anyone could guess what really happened, I came awfully close. But there was still an extra surprise that I wasn't expecting. However, saying that I wasn't blown away by the dramatic climax of the novel.
Her writing, as usual - is brilliant. Gradually increasing the tension until you are bursting to find out the truth. The characters were well developed and I just love the way she only gives a little bit away at precisely the right time.
Would I recommend The Warning?
Absolutely! I would recommend ANYTHING by Kathryn Croft for thriller fans. Just pick any of them! You won't be disappointed!
Many thanks to Bookouture via NetGalley for a copy of The Warning for me to read and review.
I have become a fan of Croft, reading pretty much every one of her books I can get my hands on. I enjoyed this one, although I don’t think it’s my favorite one by this author.
Zoe’s son Ethan drowned in an accident three years ago, along with his best friend Josh. Coming to terms with what happened has been a struggle for her, husband Jake, and to her son Harley. When she receives an email saying she doesn’t actually know what happened to Ethan, she starts reinvestigating on her own, trying to determine if it was actually an accident, or if there is more to the story.
I enjoyed the investigation part of the story and learning about Ethan and what his last days looked like. I think for me the ending wasn’t really a great reveal. I didn’t really buy into the truth of what happened, and it didn’t leave me feeling shocked like some of her other novels have done. I enjoyed this one, but I didn’t love it.
