Once again NetGalley causes my purse to be empty, but my bookshelf to be full

4.5* --> 5*

Ragmullin once again faces the threat of a serial killer when a young boy is found murdered. Since the victim was a friend of Lottie's son, Sean, this case is hitting a little close to home. Things take a turn for the worse when another young boy is found dead a few days later. It's obvious this killer isn't finished yet but could Sean be in danger as well?

Meanwhile, a young girl enters the police station covered in blood, uttering the chilling words "I think I killed him". But before Lottie has a chance to talk to her, the girl mysteriously disappears. Did she really kill someone? If so, who? And why did she run?

There's always something especially harrowing about a crime story involving children and this one is no different. It makes for some uncomfortable reading at times and the disturbing events nearly broke my heart into tiny pieces. I couldn't at all figure out who the killer was or what their motivation was all about. The ultimate reveal left me reeling.

Of course there are a few twists and turns, a few dead ends and characters acting so suspiciously you can't do anything else but eye them warily. We're also faced with the hardships of living on an estate and the desperate attempts someone will make to get away and find a better life.

It's really hard to believe that Tell Nobody is already the fifth instalment in the DI Lottie Parker series. By now, Lottie and her team feel like family and just like some family members do, these characters also often get on my nerves. Not just Lottie, but Boyd and Lynch as well this time around. I was all set to offer them all chill pills. Well, maybe not Lottie though .

She is still a bit of a mess, still failing at the patience skill (I can totally relate!), still doesn't quite have motherhood down to a fine art. But she's also still fiercely determined and even though I sometimes feel like grabbing her by the collar and shaking her about a bit, I can't stop but liking her immensely.

As its predecessors, Tell Nobody makes for one gripping read. Always compelling, always engrossing and always addictive. I can't wait for more from Lottie and her team!

Geezus!!!!!!! I don't even know where to begin! Wow...I mean, wow - the D.I. Lottie Parker series just keeps getting better and better!

'Tell Nobody' has a theme which is extremely dark, with the overall vibe of the book becoming quite uncomfortable as the storyline progressed. Now usually, if a storyline made me feel extremely uncomfortable, I would give it a thumbs down and cut my losses, but, because 'Tell Nobody' is a thriller, the book has got to make readers feel discomfort otherwise it wouldn't be doing its job properly now would it?

Patricia Gibney had me hooked from the get go, keep me hostage until the very last page. I really don't know how this author manages to keep this series on the rise with every single book, but she does, and my goodness she does it well. Honestly, each book gets better and better, and the strength of the authors writing becomes apparent with each new book as well.

In this instalment, I felt that Lottie Parker was flagging because of how much rubbish she has had land on her in previous books. The character didn't seem herself at all and weirdly, I found that endearing as it made her come across as more of a relatable and 'real' character. I can't stick her boss though! He really needs to remove that stick from his youknowwhat!

I won't delve into the 'omg I loved the part when...' as Gibney has written an incredibly complex and detailed storyline which involves every nook and cranny of every situation with the book, therefore me writing spoilers unintentionally would be likely and I don't wish to ruin the book for anyone.

Like I said at the beginning, the content within the storyline makes for highly uncomfortable reading which often made my stomach turn. That said, I thought that the author delivered it very sensitively whilst also keeping the suspense there the whole time.

'Tell Nobody' is a truly fantastic, insanely gripping, dark as the night sky type of read which in my eyes, just screams 'WINNER!!!'. I sped through the pages of this book and I think you will too. I genuinely cannot recommend this book enough! More Lottie Parker please!!!!

Book 5 in the amazing Lottie Parker series. This is another series I love reading and I look forward to each and every book. A series that is well worth reading. Great characters and fantastic story lines. You really need to be reading these books.
These books captivate you and drag you into those pages right from the beginning and this one, book 5 is no exception. I loved it. I really am a huge Lottie Parker fan. As soon as I started this book it felt like i'd only just left Ragmullin, and I was right back there from the get go.
Lottie and her team are faced with the deaths of two young boys. This is a difficult case, not only because it's children but because there seems to be no real clues to set them off.
A rollercoaster of a ride for the team. Lottie is also struggling with her home life, after losing her home to fire, she is living at her mothers with her children. It's certainly not an ideal situation, Lottie seems to really be on the edge in this book, I just can't help but like her even more with each book I read. She's still a little screwed up, but this really adds to her character and makes her stand out as an individual.
Some great twists in this brilliantly written story. Although the story can be a little upsettings its put together so well. Well worth reading and totally gripping. I know I keep going on about this and I say it all the time, but I really do recommend that you read this book after reading the previous ones. I guess you could get away with reading just this one, but where is the fun in that, when you could actually read all 5 back to back. Its certainly worth knowing Lottie's back story as I feel it adds to the story.

If you want a book that hooks you from page one and keeps you up all night because you can't put it down then this is for you! A fast moving, intense thriller with a brilliant ending. This is book 5 in the Lottie Parker series and they just get better and better. Highly recommended 5 stars.

Detective Lottie Parker's life is never quiet and orderly. She and her her three kids and grandson are living with her mother following the fire that destroyed her house and they are all hanging out for the rental she's organised to be ready to move into. Not wanting to be home and distracted by work, she's neglecting her kids more than usual and has no idea how her teenage son, Sean spends his days. Definitely not a contender for Mother of the Year. Although she can escape to work every day, there is no respite there as she has the murders of a baby and two young boys to investigate with very few clues but a load of contacts to interview. Her boss, who would like nothing better than to get rid of her is putting her under pressure with his demands and she is surly with her team and particularly her partner Boyd. Poor Boyd - it's hard to know why he's still attracted to her!

There's a lot going on in this book, almost too much and a host of characters to keep track of and I would definitely recommend reading the first four books in the series to appreciate Lottie's backstory. It is a fast paced read with Lottie and her team racing all over the place as the story twists in new directions as the horrific nature of the motive for the killings emerges.

While the material was a bit disturbing, I rather liked this latest tale of Lottie. There seemed to be more interaction with her team, although not always pleasant, after all, it IS Lottie! Detective Parker is still a bitch but she didn't seem to take as many drugs or drink as much in this book, which I preferred. Lots of action as usual and even a tear or two. A new character finds himself in Ragmullen, possibly to bring more headache to Lottie in future books.

My one big issue with Ms. Gibney and her Lottie books, is the continued use of Lottie's family as possible victims...enough already! The writing is very good, just move on from the family please.

Another great book in the Lottie Parker series. Plenty of action to keep you engrossed and it's nice to see how the relationship between Lottie and Boyd is progressing. This story was a bit more complex than some of her other books but as the layers peeled away it was edge of your seat stuff. I can't wait for the next instalment.

I always get unbelievably excited whenever I know one of popular, bestselling author Patricia Gibney's books is due to be published, so when I read the synopsis for this, her fifth title in the Detective Lottie Parker series, I was eager to jump right in! Was it all it was cracked up to be, or did it crush me and my expectation and smash my heart into a million pieces? Well... I'm pleased to report that this another FANTASTIC addition to the series featuring the Ragmullin An Garda Siochána aka the Republic of Ireland's police service.

'Tell Nobody' was an ori9inal, interesting and thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable read. I always look forward to her books and have never been disappointed so far touch wood! The twists, turns and red herrings are plentiful and unpredictable in nature and coupled with a fast pace this made for a thrilling plot! The point-of-view is primarily that of Lottie but the author also includes some of the other characters and the killers perspectives too. Sometimes this chopping and changing can drastically affect the way a story works, but here Gibney weaves each of the POV's together seamlessly adding further interest to the tale. Gibney masterfully ratchets up the tension right up to the conclusion where there is a staggering crescendo, but right up until the reveal the murderer's identity is kept well hidden. This is one of the most fundamental requirements in a thriller but so many books cannot seem to manage it, there is never any such issues with Ms Gibney!

A highly addictive, immersive and realistic story that gave me goosebumps when I discovered some of the wonderfully jaw-dropping surprises! A must-read for any crime buff and a great addition to anyone's library. I literally cannot wait for book number six!

Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC. I was not required to post a review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

A young girl staggers into a police station, covered in blood, mumbling, “I think I killed him.” When two young boys come across the body of an infant floating where they are fishing, it seems obvious who’s to blame, until another body turns up, and another.

It’s obvious from the start that Detective Parker has her share of drama and disfunction: a recent house fire has left her and her children living with her mom, a failed romance, a conflict with a supervisor, and a person who wants to unearth her past.

We follow Lottie through the procedures of the investigation as she tries to figure out who would want these children dead while trying to keep herself sane and her family safe. The author also allows little peeks into the mind of the killer throughout the novel through an on-going internal monologue.

With plenty of twists and turns, some of them quite dark, it was a very quick read. There were a lot of characters to keep track of and an interconnectedness to them all that I didn’t particularly enjoy, however.

This is the 5th book in the Lottie Parker series. I have not read any of the other books in the series but feel that this one is able to stand on its own.

Right... here we are at book five of this series and I give up. No, not on the series, I love that! It's Lottie I'm giving up on. I've given her five books now and, sorry, we're never going to be friends! But that doesn't mean I don't want to read about her; not at all! I have loved every book of this series which, I guess, only goes to prove that I don't have to like a main character to enjoy a story. That said, I do love the banter between her and her colleagues who seem well able to give as good as they get!
So, Lottie and her family (three kids and a grandson) are homeless after the fire and are currently encamped with Lottie's mum Rose. A situation that no one is really enamoured about but they muddle through as their new place is still being prepared. But she still has a job to do and she is on hand when a young woman presents herself at the station in a confused state, muttering about having killed him. She then disappears from the hospital before she can be questioned. Lottie's son Sean is fishing with his mate and they find the dead body of a baby. Are the two connected?
Then the body of a missing young boy turns up and her team is tasked to investigate. The case is made harder by the fact that the boy was a close friend of her own son. To make matters even worse, there's a second body; another young boy. With all that going on, no wonder Lottie reaches for the Xanax. But will that really help her cut through all the noise and piece together exactly what is going on, before more lives are lost?
Lottie still appears to be struggling at work, mostly at the hands of her superiors but, to be honest, she could do a bit more to help herself. She has a bit of an attitude but, at the end of the day, she gets results and it is a direct consequence of her gutsy attitude that she does get those results, Something has to give sometime when the powers that be finally start to understand this! To be honest, the most of what I personally don't get on with about her, are the things that make her human and, unlike some, she does learn from some of her mistakes, not all though! She definitely doesn't need a visit from across the pond which threatens her both personally and professionally! OK, she's a bit misunderstood and just needs a good someone in her life, properly I mean, not just casually, maybe I am a bit harsh on her? I do respect her, of sorts and, at the end of the day, she does get results. You'd think that the author had put her kids through enough in this series already, that's my only beef about this series. A bit too heavy on the personal connection for me at times.
Deaths of children are never easy to read about but here, the author does a great job of handling it sensitively. Especially given the eventual outcome which flummoxed me right up until the end. There are twists and turns aplenty as the book meanders towards its conclusion, holding me in its thrall all the way through and leaving me more than satisfied at the end of this book but, at the same time, leaving me hankering from more next time.
My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Twisted murders, dark drama, and a brutal ending comprise the fifth installment of the DI Lottie Parker series. This is a suspenseful, intriguing and, ultimately, heartbreaking read.

A serial killer targeting young boys is on the loose in Ragmullin, Ireland. When the corpse of a newborn baby is found, followed by the bodies of two young boys, DI Lottie Parker and team are assigned to the case. The investigation has a lot of moving and messy parts and quickly spins out of control. Adding to the mess is Lottie’s personal life, which creates tension and animosity within her team.

As always, Lottie is a hot mess. She is feeling the pressure from her new boss and struggling to maintain control over the team. Her relationship with Detective Lynch further deteriorates when she is found in a compromising position with Lynch’s husband. She and her partner, and sometimes lover, Marc Boyd are out of sync, as the two remain at a distance from one another. I do hope that their relationship moves forward in the next book, as their on/off status is getting old.

Tell Nobody can be read as a standalone, but I wouldn't recommend doing this. This is a character-driven series and the characters' backstories and complicated relationships take center stage. Therefore, I would advise reading this series from the beginning to fully appreciate all that happens.

I was torn up at the ending--it was unexpected and awful. I am hoping there is forward movement in the next book, as Lottie seems stuck in the same place as the last book, although her relationship with her mother seems to be on the mend. With that being said, I do LOVE this series and I am looking forward to seeing what’s next for Lottie Parker!

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Bookoutre in exchange for an honest review.

Scoring the winning goal in an important football match should be a cause for celebration. Eleven-year-old Mikey Driscoll finds his celebrations and his life cut tragically short, however, when his body is found two days later. When the body of a second boy is discovered, Detective Lottie Parker has a personal reason for wanting this case closed as soon as possible – the boys are known to her son, Sean. Are the deaths linked to a disturbed young woman who proclaims she has killed ‘him’ and just what is the subject of the conspiracy of silence that seems to be in existence? This will be one of Lottie’s toughest and most emotional cases yet…

Tell Nobody is the fifth outing for D. I. Lottie Parker, in a series that is going from strength to strength. Still coming to terms with events in previous books, Lottie is, once again, struggling to balance home and work life, this time with the spectre of a long-lost relative lurking in the background. For this reason, although it is not essential, I would advise that you read the other books in the series before this one as it will aid in understanding several events that are referred to.

Ragmullin is fast becoming the crime capital of Ireland, and is definitely not a place I would like to live in! In Tell Nobody, we meet several shady characters, each one with secrets they do not want to rise to the surface. Which one, though, is implicated in the most heinous of crimes – the abuse and murder of young boys? The subject matter is, at times, distressing, as is any plot involving the abuse of children. What built up the tension in this book, however, was that we don’t just meet these boys after their death, but we get to find out a bit about their backstory beforehand. By using Lottie’s son and his friends, we get to develop a relationship with these boys, building up a sense of foreboding that something is about to happen to one of them.

Twists and turns abound in a story that, in one part, will rock fans of the series to their very core. No spoilers, but let’s just say that for one of the regular characters, life will never be the same again.

There is still so much more to come from this series, not least Lottie’s reaction to the part of her past that is beginning to merge with the present. Patricia Gibney is a fantastic writer and I can’t wait to see what she has in store next for Lottie.

This is another great book in the Lottie Parker series and my favourite so far.
Parker and Boyd are on the hunt for a killer who seems to be targeting young boys and leaving their bodies in full view, to be found.
The boys were part of the same football team but interviews with all those involved in the team reach a dead end.
A girl is also wanted for questioning after a newborn baby is found dead in the lake and Parker and Boyd are desperate to find her.
This is a great murder mystery thriller which had me gripped throughout.
I didn’t guess the killer’s identity until the final moments and loved the way the story all pulled together.
The title of this book is very apt and whilst heart wrenching at times, I really enjoyed this book.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

This is book #5 of the Lottie Parker series. It can be read as a standalone book, but it does make sense to read them in order for continuity! For information, this book is based in Ireland.

Lottie Parker is back and on the hunt for a serial killer who is targeting young boys in the town of Ragmullin. Her and her team are also have discovered the body of a new-born baby and are trying to discover where the mother is and how the baby died. The boys are linked by a local football team and someone associated with the team is keeping secrets as to who the killer is.

Welcome back Lottie! As usual, Lottie is struggling to juggle her home and work life. After having to move herself and her children in with her mum following their house burning down, she is finding it difficult to maintain a good relationship with them all. She’s also clashing at work with her new boss and her DS and good friend, Mark Boyd is also bearing the brunt of her bad mood. But despite all that, I love Lottie! She’s a fabulous character! Yeah, she might not be a contender for mother of the year, but her heart’s in the right place and she’s a very good Detective.

I really felt for Lottie and her team in this story. Writing (and reading) about the death of children is always going to be difficult, but all my emotions came flooding to the surface as the boys who were killed were the same age as my son now. I have to admit that despite these parts being sensitively written, I did have a few tears and was absolutely heartbroken at what the families went through.

The characters are great and the storyline was fast paced, thrilling and full of suspense and tension. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to find out what Lottie will do next!

Wow, what a rollercoaster of a book! It started off at a cracking pace and never let up until the final pages.
It begins with a teenage girl stopping DI Lottie Parker outside her police station. The girl is covered in blood and says to Lottie "I killed him" before she collapses unconscious. A baby's body is soon found by two teenage boys fishing by the river, and one of those boys is Lottie's 15yo son Sean. The body of a young boy is then found after an important football game. Then another boy is found dead beside the lake. Lottie and her team have their work cut out for them with the bodies mounting up and pressure from Lottie's boss to get results. But are the cases related? There are many suspects, but no firm leads. And who is Sean's new friend?
"Tell Nobody" is a spellbinding thriller, you'll find you wont be able to put this one down!
My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lottie & Co are back. No spoilers but this follows on closely from the last book so, while perfectly ok as a standalone, it benefits to have read the series in order. Boyd is divorced, Lottie and her family are living with Rose, and young boys are turning up dead. Yes its all happening in Ragmullin and its close to home for Lottie too. Great series
