Murder, child abuse, drugs, family secrets and psychologically damaged characters turn up on just about every page in this book, the fifth featuring Ireland Detective Lottie Parker. Fairly early on I ran into an ongoing obstacle: A few too many characters and plot "angles" that made it a bit hard for me to keep track of who was who and how he or she was connected to which story line. I decided to just settle back and let my mind go with the flow, though, and before too long things started to fall into place. I've read only one book in this series ("The Missing Ones," which I totally loved), and the writing I enjoyed when reading that one is here as well. It stands alone, but I'm sure I'd have felt more "clued in" had I read the other in-betweens. That said, I'm pretty sure die-hard fans who have followed the series from the start won't be disappointed.

For openers, an obviously disoriented and bloodied young woman wanders into the police station claiming she may have killed someone - then passes out and is transported to the hospital. It's clear she's just given birth; but before anyone can speak to her, she escapes. Not long thereafter, Lottie's not-yet-teenage son Sean and his friend find a dead newborn near the short where they've gone fishing (authorities assume, of course, that it belongs to the bloodied girl).

Following closely on the heels of that is the disappearance of a young socceer player - a close friend of Sean's - who in short order is found murdered. And just days later, another young boy is found murdered in similar fashion. All these cases end up on Lottie's plate, but a few personal issues get thrown into her mix (and added to my confusion) as well, such as moving into a new house with her family, an uncertain "romance" with another department detective, a jealous very pregnant co-worker, an overbearing boss and a mysterious man from her past.

Perhaps the only thing that gets resolved in the end is the identity of the murderer (I'd narrowed it down to two characters, one right on the button); otherwise, I'm left scratching my head with this question: Just how much blood can one woman lose before there's none left? The rest of the goings-on will, I assume, carry over to the next book, which I certainly hope to get my hands on. For now, thanks to the publisher, via NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review this one.

So Lottie Parker is back. As slightly dysfunctional as ever, still not spending enough time with her kids, still not getting on with her mother, still antagonizing her superiors while arguing regularly with her team of detctives, and you know what? I couldn’t be happier to be back with her in her world.

I’m not going to do much if any of a synopsis of the story as I really don’t want to give away any spoilers, but suffice to say it involves murders and an intriquit plot.

Book 5 of the series and this is one of those very few series that just keeps giving and giving. The standard of this series doesn’t dip at all and if anything it’s getting better as it evolves. That’s coming from a very high starting point as well.

I love these books so much and the character Lottie Parker. I love how she is a brilliant detective but is so flawed at the same time. It makes her more human and very very easy for me to empathize with and like. She’s such a well fleshed out and rounded character at this stage. I read a lot of police procedural/thriller series and it can be hard to keep track of which series is which, but I was a couple of chapters into this book and was immediately familiar with who I was reading and the other books came straight back into my head.

The characters in this book really are fantastic. Of course we have the regulars of the team who are all well developed now, but all the new characters in the town of Ragmullin who are involved in the cases(and there’s a lot of them) are instantly memorable and so well written.

Speaking of well written, the story is just fantastic. No other word for it. A great complex plot with a large cast of characters and suspects but in the hands of such a talented author, it takes little or no effort to keep track of and the chapters roll off the virtual tongue with ease. There’s no filler here. No issue with pacing. No issue with plot devices. No issues full stop.

The final third of the book felt like someone had pressed the accelerator on my reading as the tension and story was ramped up to near breaking point. It was like I was being magnetically pulled towards the end of the book at great speed with no say in the matter.
The tension and page turn ability was unparalleled and I’m not ashamed to say more than a tear was shed by me at certain points.

If you hadn’t guessed by now I adored this book. When you get a few books into a series you are always afraid that it may be the one that dips a little or “doesn’t quite do it”. The opposite is present here. Possibly the strongest book in the series. I doubt I will read or enjoy a book more this year. It was just simply fantastic.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Patricia Gibney for an Arc in exchange for an honest review.

#TellNobody #NetGalley I think this is the best in the DI Lottie Parker series to date. well written, fact paced and complicated and Lottie and her team pack so much into the five days covering the majority of the story. I love all these characters (except McMahon!) and love the personal story lines going on alongside the crime stories. A twist at the end and some heartbreaking scenes kept me glued to the pages. A well deserved 5 stars. Cant wait for the next in the series!

This is my first foray into this popular crime series featuring DI Lottie Parker, set in Ragmullin in Ireland. Whilst obviously there are various backstories that I have not been privy to this, the fifth in the series, it still worked perfectly fine for me as a standalone. Lottie's home has burned down, and her children, Katie, Chloe, Sean and grandson, Louis, are temporarily residing with her mother, Rose, in the cramped and claustrophobic surroundings. A stranger, Captain Leo Belfield from the NYPD has arrived with an interest in Lottie. It all kicks off with the arrival of a confused and bloodied young woman at the police station muttering she thinks she killed him. She is taken to the hospital from where she disappears. As Lottie's team search for the woman, Sean is fishing with a friend when a baby's dead body is found in the water. A stressed Lottie, having to rely on Xanax pills, is to find herself in the midst of traumatic and harrowing investigations involving the murders of young boys in a community and families harbouring secrets, abuse, lies and a disturbed serial killer and more.

The murdered body of 11 year old Mickey is found, followed by that of another young boy with the same MO. Lottie's team try to chase down what connects the boys and their families, but leads are proving to be elusive. Acting Superintendent David McMahon is refusing to temper his dislike of Lottie, smothering her with paperwork and his insistent orders on the cases that are nothing but a hindrance and a burden. The police team dynamics and drama are a significant part of the story, with Kirby and Gilly's relationship, the pregnancy of DC Maria Lynch and her misapprehensions with regard to Lottie, then there are Lottie's mixed feelings and uncertainty regarding Boyd whose divorce has come through. There is Lottie's disturbing family history in which the troublesome journalist, Cynthia Rhodes is showing a little too much interest. In the meantime, it soon becomes clear that another young boy is in danger, and so is Lottie's family as the multiple threads begin to slowly connect in what turns out to be a desperately tragic finale.

I can understand why so many love this series, Lottie is a compelling central character, and her life and those of her police team, determined in their efforts to identify suspects, traumatised by the horror of what they encounter, is a major reason why this crime novel stood out for me. Gibney does not shy away in presenting their conflicts as well as their teamwork. The title of the book is particularly apt when the dark underbelly of a community and its families is exposed. This is gripping crime fiction with its twists, tensions and suspense, with a truly heartbreaking ending. Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC.

Tell Nobody Patricia Gibney

Patricia Gibney has a way of hooking me from the very start of each book.

This one starts with an unknown woman running away from something or someone. She is in terrible pain and blacks out.

The story cuts to a boys football match, a final, everybody should be happy, but not everybody has a caring and loving family to support them.

Mikey Driscoll had scored the winning goal in the Cup Final, as he is on his way home he is picked up and given a lift. Two days later his body is found.

What comes next is a story that follows DI Lottie Parker and her team as they investigate Mikey’s murder. Then more bodies start to be found, and the pressure is on to find the killer.

But that is far too simplistic a description of the book.

This book doesn’t just look at the murders. Patricia Gibney looks at family dynamics, and how not everything in the family is how it seems to somebody looking in from the outside.

Latch key kids, bingo moms, single men and women bringing up families, teenage angst, unlikely friendships, all play a big part in the story.

And it’s not just the victims and criminals that are having a hard time.

Lottie, her son, two daughters and grandchild, are all living with her Mom, and its driving her crazy.

Her home had been destroyed in a fire and she is renovating her new house. But even that comes at a cost, to her and somebody close to her.

At work, her boss has it in for her, and would like nothing more than to see her fail.

The chemistry between Lottie and her DS is still bubbling along, but she is terrified to take comfort in his arms.

This series of books is great. The attention to detail that Patricia Gibney gives to the stories make them amongst the most realistic books I’ve read.

As well as the crimes in the books there is the ongoing story of Lottie, her family, and her team, and for me, that’s where she has the edge over most Crime Writers these days.

I love these books, and look forward to each new one that’s published.

This is the 5th in the DI Lottie Parker series set in the mid-Ireland City of Ragmullin.
Although it can be read as a stand-alone novel to get the best out of it I would recommend reading the series in order. Follow Lottie her family and her team as Patricia develops and grows the characters and their relationships.

Believe me it’s worth it.

I raced through this next instalment in the fabulous Detective Lottie Parker series.

The body of eleven year old Mikey Driscoll is found by teenagers. Lottie Parker and the team are immediately on the case. Days later another local boy is found in similar circumstances also surrounded by wild flowers and the team are afraid they have may have a serial killer in their midst.
The team need to quickly find out who is killing these young boys and why. A newborn baby is also found dead by Lottie’s son Sean and his friend Barry.

At home Lottie is counting the days till their new house is ready. Her mother Rose, while generously opening her home to them is seriously doing her head in. She can’t wait to have her own space again.

I liked how things are developing between Lottie and Boyd. Kirby and Gilly also seem to be becoming romantically involved. There is also a stranger from America asking about Lottie who may someone connected with her past.

A late teens girl arrives at the garda station covered in blood and indicating she killed someone. Is she connected to the death of Mikey or what? As ever the pain that is Superintendent MacMahon is still trying to bring Lottie down.

A fast paced and thrilling read with some real heartache within its pages and a killer I never suspected! Brilliant!

Lottie Parker's like gets more messier and crazier as these books continue. In this outing, the investigation is a little disturbing. I really don't want to give details because I don't want to ruin the book for other people. There's quite a lot of bitchiness between some of the characters though. Especially Lottie and another detective from the team. There's always the backstory of Lottie's personal life throughout the book. A character is introduced in this book that could make Lottie's life crazy but nothing much is resolved in this story. I assume we'll see more from this character in future books. Towards the end, something happens that made me tear up, which will have a lasting effect on another side character. The investigation was a good one, even if it was highly disturbing, but it was a surprise ending. I do wish that Gibney would stop having Lottie's kids involved in the investigations. It's time to stop using the characters in that way. At this rate, those kids will grow up to be f'd up! All in all, another good book by Gibney.

*Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a huge fan of the Lottie Parker series and this installment doesn't disappoint despite the grim themes. I do wonder whether it's time to give Lottie a bit of a break in her personal life to be fair. I'll be interested to see how the long lost family member storyline pans out.

I would like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Tell Nobody’, the fifth in the Detective Lottie Parker series written by Patricia Gibney, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
The body of eleven-year-old Mikey Driscoll is discovered wearing only white football shorts and with a halo of flowers around his head. Soon after Kevin Shanley’s body is found in similar circumstances. Detective Lottie Parker and her sergeant Mark Boyd are called on to find the person responsible before any other boys can be taken away and strangled.
‘Tell Nobody’ is a gripping thriller with a strong and cleverly thought-out plot, interesting characters and lots of suspects to keep me guessing. There are various sub-plots, twists and turns and a tear-jerking and unexpected ending. I like Gibney’s style of writing which makes for easy reading but for me the discourteous way Lottie speaks to Boyd and the way she cuts short a conversation with her colleagues detracts from the excellence of the novel. Nevertheless, another great thriller and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

Another fast paced and complicated case for Lottie and team. The darkness of the plot is well balanced with dry humour but poor Gilly was unnecessary

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Tell Nobody, the fifth novel to feature Detective Lottie Parker of the Ragmullin An Garda Siochána.

When a blood spattered young woman staggers into the station saying she thinks she killed him Lottie wants to investigate but the young woman, Hope Cotter, is rushed to hospital and Lottie is distracted by her son, Sean, finding a dead baby in the canal. Are these events linked? Lottie isn't sure but before she can dig deeper Hope disappears and a young boy is murdered.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tell Nobody which is a drama filled investigation with plenty of twists and turns and barely a dull moment. It is told mostly from Lottie's point of view but Ms Gibney widens the reader's perspective with the views of other characters and, occasionally, that of the murderer. It seems to work well and flows seamlessly although the killer's thoughts are fairly superfluous and standard in their hints of madness. The upside is that there is no hint of identity. I like the construction of the novel which builds slowly as Lottie and the team pull the facts and suppositions together. I freely admit to having no clue initially about what was going on and living the investigation with the team and even when I had a grip on the basics the perpetrator's identity remained well hidden among several likely contenders until the denouement. It's good stuff and definitely holds the reader's attention.

Lottie's life is still in a mess, no house after it burned down and no job satisfaction with Superintendent MacMahon micro managing her workload. He is a poor specimen, a bully ready to take the credit with no input so I'm still waiting for him to get his comeuppance (hope it's soon). Lottie, on the other hand, is a very sympathetic character. She is not all sweetness and light or ruthless efficiency as she makes mistakes and can be quite snippy when pushed but she's very human and it's easy to identify with her as a woman trying to deal with her mother and juggle single motherhood with a demanding career. She's very well portrayed and has become one of my favourites.

Tell Nobody is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.

Tell Nobody is book 5 in the Lottie Parker series.

Utterly fantastic! Patricia Gibney has pulled the rabbit out of the hat yet again with the brilliant Tell Nobody.

I just love the Lottie Parker series, I literally devour these books, once I start I just can’t put it down until I am finished. Patricia has the knack of keeping you hanging on to every word mesmerised as the build-up begins and grows as the book progresses to the final mind blowing conclusion.

I feel like every book gets better than the last and this is no exception, this was an excellent piece of crime fiction. I love Lottie, her family and her team at work, as the books progress I feel like I am getting to know them personally.

Patricia Gibney is such a gifted writer and now I have finished this book I am champing at the bit to get the next one!

I can’t recommend this book highly enough, I really loved it, it’s a must read. Tell Nobody totally deserves 5 stars and is one of my favourite top 5 books of 2018.

Apologies for this short review, I am recovering from eye surgery, but I loved this book so much I had to a few words down.

Is anyone really surprised that I dived right into this one? The Lottie Parker series is tied in first place with The Dublin Murder Squad and the D.D Warren series as my favorite police procedurals! Book 5 picks up with Lottie and her children counting down the days until their new home is ready and getting away from grandmother Rose. Lottie and Boyd are still doing their frustrating dance of being a couple. Lynch has been beaten by the green eyed monster and Gilly and Kirby are talking about taking that next step. But when a young girl stumbles into the garda station covered in blood and stating "I killed someone" and a boy's body is discovered, it looks like Lottie and her team may have more than they have bargained for in their job. If that isn't enough both Lottie's professional and personal life are about to get shaken up as a mysterious stranger arrives in Ireland and they are asking about Lottie.

So great storyline, stunning cover, and more eye catching taglines and this latest installment fits in nicely with the rest. My only request is that can Cynthia Rhodes and that Acting Superintendent get off Lottie's back. They're basically annoying mosquitoes and my teeth grind whenever they pop up!

Lastly, I just want to say that I cried, like ugly cried, and I am a bit angry with PG. But in an effort to post no spoilers, I am just going to say read it and go a little undone

Thought I wasn't going to like this book but persevered and I soon got into it.

It is a good page turner but not what I call a gripper, not sure if I would read any more from this author.

Life for Detective Lottie Parker gets even more hectic and complex in this fabulous and gripping series of novels :Tell Nobody being the 5th.

Having lost her own home in an earlier fire , Lottie is for now living with her 3 children at her mothers.
Whilst fishing with a friend, Lottie's son Sean discovers the body of a baby but more heartache and upset is to come as another dead body, that of a young boy and a close friend of Sean's, is found displayed on a bed of wild flowers behind the football clubhouse.

As the body count rises, untangling the truth from the hidden and complex web of deceit and lies will test Lottie and her team to breaking point. With plenty of suspects and time running out before another child is killed, the team search in desperation to discover the truth and bring a murderer to justice.

Tell Nobody is another brilliantly constructed storyline and plot, with its many weaving twists and turns, its wealth of believable and captivating characters it will keep you guessing and turning those pages from the beginning to the very last page.

Loved it and look forward to meeting Lottie and the team in the future.

Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the copy in exchange for a honest review.

BOOM Patricia Gibney does it again! WOW I just love the Lottie Parker series, I can't get enough, I literally devour it, once I start the book, I just cannot put it down. Patricia Gibney has a way of pulling you in from page 1 and captivates you right through to the end.

Tell Nobody is the fifth in the series and Lottie is called in when a newborn baby's body is found in the water, on the same day a young girl presents herself to the station covered in blood claiming "I killed him" before passing out. To top it off, another body, that of a young boy is found dumped behind the clubhouse, just was is going on in Ragmullin! Can Lottie get to the crux of it before more bodies turn up! This is a fast paced detective thriller, plenty of people in the frame, a classic case of who dunnit but you will never guess, Patricia Gibney has a way of keeping you on a cliffhanger, you won't know the truth until she is good and ready and the build up is seismic! I don't like to tell too much of the plot for fear of ruining the book for others but suffice to say, this will definitely not disappoint, for me ITS A MUST MUST READ, have already told my mam the 5th one is coming and she is too excited as we both finished the 4th one on holidays!

Many thanks to Bookouture, Netgalley & the very gifted Patricia Gibney for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

PS how long do I have to wait for the 6th??? Not too long I hope!!

OMG BEYOND BRILLIANT!!!! I started reading it on the first day of my holidays and had it read in less than a day!! It grips you right from the first page. It is so fast paced. Very sensitive subjects dealt with in a very tasteful way. It was anyone's guess who was responsible right to the end. The action just kept on coming. I literally can't wait for the next one. Thanks Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this book. A truly well deserved five stars.
