Great Chinese cookbook, lots of recipes, good variety! Some dishes I have made before but plenty to keep me interested.

Do not read over this book while you are hungry. Do not repeat my mistakes. Do you know what I would give for some of the food in this book? Everything. PLEASE JUST GIVE ME SOME DUMPLINGS!

In all seriousness, the cookbook brings together the best of family, food, tradition, and experimentation. The recipes are easy to follow and the pictures are stunning. This would be a great addition to your cookbook shelf if you want to experiment with something outside your wheelhouse. (Of course, if you frequently make Asian food then this will still be great for giving you some new ideas with an American twist.)

This cookbook was filled to the brim with delicious recipes, and some stunning photos! My mouth was watering, and I have been craving Chinese food ever since. I have always felt that cooking some good homemade Chinese food would always been too much work, but this book has changed my mind. With simple enough instructions, and easy to access ingredients, I really feel like I'll be able to tackle a few of these recipes without too much hassle. I would definitely recommend this to my more experienced chef friends, but also to my girlfriends who are novice in the kitchen, like myself.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I truly appreciate it!

In terms of me and food, there are a few things you need to know, a big one being that I love Chinese food. Some Chinese food, anyway–I’m picky. When I read the description for Double Awesome Chinese Food by Margaret Li, Irene Li, and Andrew Li, I knew I had to see what it was like. The idea behind this cookbook is Chinese American food–it’s not completely Chinese and it’s not completely American. Awesome!

Double Awesome Chinese Food definitely lived up to my expectations. The influence of the Li siblings’ Chinese upbringing is clear in all the recipes, but they have also put new spins on old recipes. Chinese food with feta cheese? Yes! Chinese food incorporating local ingredients–even non-traditional ones? Yes! It’s all here.

The other great thing about this cookbook is that there are tons of recipes. No matter your skill level or what you have a taste for on any given day, you’ll be able to find something fun to cook. I love the range of recipes here. The recipes are also supplemented by little bits from the Lis’ story: about how they started a restaurant and how they developed recipes, which adds a fun element to the book.

If you’re looking for recipes that aren’t strictly traditional, this is the cookbook for you. I loved the creativity throughout this whole book, as well as the stories about how both new and traditional foods are important.

I received a DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a very very cool and unique Chinese cookbook. The pictures are gorgeous and mouthwatering and the instructions are fairly easy to follow. I really like how conscious the authors are about sustainable food and what the home cook can do to be more mindful in their cooking choices.

There are very few ingredients that are hard to find- most things are available in regular grocery stores or Asian markets! So get cooking!

My new favorite cookbook! Simple recipes, common ingredients, deliciousness all around! I also love that the majority of the recipes have pictures (I can't stand cookbooks with no pictures! How am I supposed to know what the food is supposed to look like?!?!). Each chapter also has some cute pictures and information about the Li family and the restaurant. This cookbook is a keeper!

Gorgeous photos and fairly simple instructions. A good addition to the nonfiction 641 shelf.. Fill that gap in your cook book collection with "Double Awesome Chinese Food" and hope your patrons bring you samples.

I live in a very small town in North Dakota, but grew up not far from Chinatown in Los Angeles. I really miss good Chinese food in ND, so I am always on the lookout for good recipes. This book was not was I was expecting, but did scope out several recipes I wanted to try out over the long weekend. Thank God for Amazon, because I had almost all the pantry items on hand. My family loved the beef and blue dumplings!! We also tried the Beef & Broccoli, and Dan Dan Noodles which were a hit. I still really want to try the Kung Pao chicken dip and the Cheddar Scallion Bread Pudding. This book is not traditional but it is very good. Can't wait to try the rest of the recipes.
