Tana French is a go-to author for me, and this was another great book by her. I explain Tana French mysteries as almost like modern day Sherlock Holmes. They're light on the action, heavy on the dialogue, and yet they still manage to induce a sense of urgency while reading. Broken Harbor harkens back to the author's first book, Into the Woods, in the is-it-or-isn't-it supernatural.

One of the things I love about Tana French books is the ability to dip in and out of the series. Reading the books in order isn't necessary, and you can absolutely start with any title you'd like, but if you do read them in order, there's the tiniest of references to characters previously to make you feel like you're in the know. It feels like an exclusive club that doesn't make other people feel left out of, if that makes sense.
