What more can I say than AMAZING. I love Kim Stone so much. This one is no different than the rest in the series. Always eagerly await the next instalment!

After the ending of #8 I was a bit dubious about starting this book. How are on earth could Ms Marsons claw herself back into my favour? By throwing out yet another fantastic installment, thats how. And by gum, thats exactly what shes done. I love that we're finally starting to understand Kim more and more. A little more insight into Bryant would be nice. And Stacey in the tough marshmallow as always. Roll on #10.

Another absolute belter from Angela Marsons.

I have read all 9 books in the series and they never disappoint.

I particularly enjoyed the way this book dealt with the sensitive issues following on from the last book (I don't want to give any spoilers!!)

Well done, again! and Thank you for the advanced copy!

Another brilliant read by Angela Marsons. The team have to adjust to life and working without Kevin and some do struggle. I think the new addition will be a welcoming change although I also miss Kevin. I really enjoyed the story line and as always it is not possible to guess who committed the crimes. I loved the alternative story line surrounding Stacey and Jessie. From the start I knew what was wrong with Jessie and I couldn't understand how Stacey could not see it. I would have loved to read more regarding the conclusion to Jessie's story. In this book Kim is a bit more hardheaded than normal and it is nice to see some more of her therapist in this book. I also love the fact that Woody seems to 'get" Kim. It is nice to see an understanding boss for a change if you compare this to other detectives stories with female leads. I would highly recommend this book and this series.

The loss of a key player has hit DI Kim Stone's unit hard, and they are all dealing with their grief in his or her own way.  Their investigative team had been closer than family, and the devastation is complete as they return to work down one member.  This story is all about choices, then living with your decision knowing that the outcome will affect others.  Do not make promises that cannot be kept.

There is no "going through the motions" with this author.  Every book shines.

Following on from the devastating conclusion of blood lines the plot thickens as Dr Cordell is found brutally murdered and Stone finds herself drawn into another twisted escapade as the clock ticks down and the body count piles up.
I just can't get enough of this series, always full of twists and turns that will keep you intrigued right till the usually explosive ending! Another fantastic tale of secrets lies and of course murder. A must read 5 star thriller!

This book was a riveting read, found it hard to put down! The team are struggling to get over Dawson's death and are offered a replacement which DI Kim Stone strongly objects too but has to accept in the end. Then a case comes in that will test them, to see how good a team they actually are. Meanwhile, Stacey is trying to do a case off her own back, on the quiet which is a missing teenager from her secondment, this turns out tricky then she thought but no one else was looking for her.

Brilliant book, brilliant read!

5 heartfelt stars

Book 9 in the DI Kim Stone series is yet another feather in the cap for Angela Marsons. This author amazes me with her ability to keep this series enthralling and fresh. This installment focuses on the team’s recovery from a disastrous last case featured in book 8, Dying Truth. It also features an exceptionally clever (even for Ms. Marsons) crime/thriller plot.

As usual the character work is phenomenal! I was pleased to see Stacey again take on a larger role in the story; in fact, she had her own arc. And as something new, we see friction between Kim and Bryant as they try to recover from prior events. Again we have a deeply psychological angle, this time featuring Kim and not Dr. Alexandra Stone, but Kim and her longtime supporter Ted. We are presented with some extraordinarily poignant moments here. I especially loved Ted’s scene in the final chapter.

The story kept me guessing. At one point I fingered the baddie (so what if he was one of five people I suspected), but had absolutely no idea of the baddie’s “why.” I really wonder if anyone reading this book can figure it all out before the end. The little clues, reveals, and twists had me totally captivated, which led to a deeply enjoyable reading experience. The ending was well done and left me mourning the loss of further contact with these characters until next time.

It’s a no brainer for me to urge all crime fiction/thriller fans that have not sampled this series to grab a copy of book one, Silent Scream. These books are best read in order. Warning, you may find yourself wanting to binge read all nine. Yes, they are that compelling.

Thank you, Ms. Marsons, for continuing to pour your heart and soul into Kim and her police family. Here’s to a decades-long writing career for you!

Angela Marsons has written another 5 star thriller with this, book 9 in the Kim Stone series, and the ninth book I have read. It just keeps getting better!

Following on from book 8, Dying Truth, Kim and her team are still coming to terms with the loss of their team member Kevin Dawson. With each member dealing with their own grief in their own way they are called to a murder scene in a park and recognise the victim straight away.

This is another well crafted story which had me hooked from the first page to the last. I can't wait for the next 7 books in the series!

Very highly recommended!!!!

#FatalPromise #NetGalley I have not read the previous nine books in this series but that is something that I will definitely be doing at some point! Although perfectly able to be read and enjoyed as a stand alone, the snippets of information divulged in this book leave me wanting to know more about the background of Kim Stone and her team. This is a gritty, fast paced novel that had everything I wanted from a crime thriller. The book is very well written and I loved the main characters especially Kim, who is made more real by the flaws that she lives with. A great 5 star read and I will certainly be reading more from this author.

I love DI Kim Stone. A deeply troubled lady but the one you would want on your side in times of trouble. She and her team are not afraid to think, and act, outside the box.
When Dr Gordon Cordell (live the surname), ends up dead, Kim and her team spring into action, however having just lost one of her team in sad circumstances she is struggling to accept his replacement. Can the team pull together to solve the murder? Especially when Gordon’s son dies too, and then 2 more associated people. Can this serial killer be stopped before he kills again? Will Kim Stone be signed off as medically and emotionally fit or is this the end of her career?
Angela Marsons has perfect suspense fuelled timing, and you will be on the edge of your seat by the end. Another amazing Kim Stone book Ms Marsons. Well done. 👍

Angela Marsons at her best! Kim Stone returns to work but all is not well following the demise of Dawson. An introduction to Penn, a new team member and Dawson’s replacement does not go well. As the story unfolds the team finally pull together to solve the case.

Given the choice between the death of a loved one or your fatal demise what would you do ? that's the choice facing several victims in this gripping and chilling story

An absolute must read for all Angela Marsons fans and for anyone who stumbles across this book

After the last book ended the way it did, I was completely distraught and wanted everything to be cleared and solved ASAP. I was worried Angela Marsons might make us wait, but fortunately she didn't and we got the follow up nice and quickly. I''m still completely devastated, but am slowly getting over it now!

I can't believe we are onto the ninth book in the Detective Kim Stone series already! What a book it is to! I would highly recommend you at least read book eight before reading this one as the team are still dealing with the loss of one of their own and think readers would benefit from fully knowing what happens in the previous book.

There are actually two threads running throughout the story, one to do with a missing teenager and the other a murder investigation. Every so often the author throws a chapter in from the point of view of the killer of who we have no idea who it is. It really adds to the suspense and mystery as well as chilled me seeing how determined they are on killing people.

I like how the author doesn't just brush under the carpet the loss of one of the team members. I wouldn't say it was good to see how the rest of the team are still coming to terms with it, but it does make it more believable and at times it makes for some emotional reading. In too many other books, it's almost as if that character had never been there and I much preferred them still being spoke about so that the reader can grieve alongside the characters, as come on, we know how we all can get attached to them also.

Penn is the replacement and boy does he have big boots to fill. I felt really sorry for him as the team are struggling with having someone new on the team and don't give him the warmest of welcomes. I loved his background story as we get to know more about him and he soon earned a place in my heart.

Fatal Promise is just a brilliant book, plain and simple. The author packs so much more than I could ever hope for in her books making it an exhilarating reading experience. I keep thinking that she won't be able to top her previous book yet time and time again she has proven me wrong by not only delivering but smashing my expectations. Loved it.

Another great book from Angela Marsons. The Kim Stone series is brilliant from start to finish and in this one she’s our usual strong capable female leader who is trying her best to rally her team after the devastating death of a valued member of her team. As always she has you on the edge of your seat with plenty of twists and turns and I for one was surprised at the ending, it wasn’t what I was thinking at all!! I can’t wait for the next instalment.

Another solid read by this author . DI Stone and her team are struggling with the death of detective Dawson from the
previous book. They all grieve differently but their intense pain and longing is the same. Stone , herself is hurting not only from this death but a painful leg injury that is just healing . She is questioning her abilities but does manage to figure out why Dr. Cordell and people associated with him are murdered . As always lots of action and great investigation on the part of her faithful team and co workers . Thrilling to the end . Her friend Ted gives an accurate portrayal of Stone to her captain. Kim Stone has certainly developed some caring aspects to her personality but she still remains hard core in not revealing her inner thoughts .

I freaking love this series! I don't know how Angela Marsons does it, but each book in this series is different to theI others and each book is so good.
In this novel, Kim and the team are recovering from the loss of one of their own. They each deal with it in a different way but they all feel the loss deeply. I loved the plot of this novel, you know the killer is after some serious revenge but you have no idea why or who. Kim and her team, including a new member, scramble to find the murderer before he can kill again. Stacey is working on a case of her own, a missing girl, and she does a wonderful job on this case.
The reader gets a bit of a glimpse into Kim's life in this book through her interactions with Ted, a therapist she has known since childhood. Of course, Kim resists any and all kinds of therapy but Ted is someone who knows her well and doesn't push it. Kim is a very complex and interesting character in a lot of ways and while we've seen some growth in her emotions, I don't expect she'll ever become completely comfortable with showing those emotions.
I very much look forward to the next installment in this series...

'Fatal Promise' is the 9th book in the DI Kim Stone series by author Angela Marsons.
Prior to starting this series around 3 years ago I had never heard of author Angela Marsons but something inspired me to read the first book 'Silent Scream' and I was hooked. This is such a good series of books and is full of all the ingredients required, strong interesting characters, well thought out plots and excellent paced writing.
This book emphasises the strength of the characters as they try to cope with losing one of their own. DS Kevin Dawson lost his life when he fell to his death while trying to save a young boy and now all his colleagues must resume their duties without him. Kim Stone is back and still recovering from her broken leg but she is not the sort to take the easy option and against recommendations returns to work. The body of Doctor Gordon Cordell is discovered brutally murdered in local woodland, he was previously linked to a previous case Kim worked on involving the death of a young school girl. Gordon has a chequered past so there are a number of people who would like to see him dead. Gordon Cordell's son is then involved in a horrific car crash which leaves him fighting for his life and Kim doesn't believe in coincidences and suspects it was no accident. Following the accident a woman is found dead in suspicious circumstances and Kim makes a link between the victims and Russell's Hall Hospital. The same hospital where Gordon worked.
This is such a good series I would highly recommend you start from book 1 and get to know all the characters and the sub plots.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
