Since the very first book that mentioned the team going to Hank's home town, I've been waiting for his and Lana's story. And wow, was it worth waiting for!

Hank and Lana were the town sweethearts - no one ever thought they'd break up. But tragedy leaves its own set of scars, and Hank just couldn't see a way to reconcile what happened with the future he wanted with Lana.

Now ten years later he's back, and the fire between them burns as hot as ever. Add to that the happiness he sees in his sister's and teammates' lives as they find their happily-ever-afters, and it's more than he can resist.

This story was so sweet, watching the whole town pull together to fight the fire threatening their community while at the same time doing whatever they could to help Lana and Hank see what everyone else saw. Their love scenes were hot as blazes, and the emotional baring of their souls was heartrending and cathartic.

The epilogue was absolutely perfect - it beautifully wraps up not only this story but the entire series. I loved each and every couple and all the wonderful supporting characters in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Burning Flame is the third and final book in the California Wildfire Fighters series and a story of second chances. But like with many second chance stories, this one is filled with moments of doubt, emotional turmoil, plenty of angst and a whole lot of missed opportunities.

While Hank is a gruff, hard-arsed, less than friendly man, his heart is filled with pain and sorrow for a past event he could have prevented. He has shouldered this burden for 10 longs years, and been running from the woman he loves just as long. Lana has never stopped loving Hank; she just wants to know why he left without warning and by all appearances, never looked back. They had something special, or so she thought, and the raging fire consuming the landscape, can’t begin to compete with the firestorm that burns within their embrace. The past needs to be buried, but a new chapter in their lives may be just as hard to conquer as feelings of déjà vu and old habits raise their ugly heads.

I loved these characters and totally understood where Lana was coming from. Better to let love go than hold onto a lie. The storyline line was well developed for such a short story and everything flowed easily. A great series that should be read in order, otherwise you’re missing out!

Another short read, but had some steamy parts. The biggest issue was that she was willing to let him walk away without telling him about the pregnancy. Never having a good time to bring it up is just selfish. This was not my cup of tea.

I love watching second chances. They’re filled with all the drama and angst of everything that didn’t work right the first time and everything else that could go wrong this time around. And Hank and Lana are experiencing a serious case of Murphy’s Law, because just about everything that can possibly go sideways for this couple does. The only thing that came easily to these two was the time they spent ‘not talking’. It’s so easy to feel the tension between them and they’re both so caught up in blaming themselves for the events that caused the rift ten years ago. After having read the two previous books in this series, I was already very invested in seeing this pair finally get their second chance, and I thoroughly enjoyed every angst-y drama-laden moment of their story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley.

I haven't read the first two books in this series but had no trouble reading this as a stand alone.

A second chance at love after 10 years. Can they forgive each other? Can they forgive themselves?

A quick and easy read that kept me interested from start to finish.

Even though I knew that Hank and Lana's story was coming next, I was still surprised by the twist and turns that it takes.
