My favourite Alfie book so far. I love how Alfie compares himself to his humans, the problems they are having with their children and his with George.
Christmas may be close but Alfie is not feeling very festive. New neighbours have moved in next door with their lovely house cat Hana. Alfie senses the new humans aren't happy and wants his humans to "bring them into the fold" but with teenage hormones thrown into the mix this will be harder than he thinks.
He's also having to face one of his best friends being seriously ill and his son George wanting to spend more time with his own friends and not with Alfie.
Can Alfie work his usual magic so humans and cats can have a good Christmas or is this one step too far even for him.
Lovely and very well written,
I love this series and I love Alfie and George.
I'm hooked since I read "Alfie the doorstep cat" and I this book met all my expectations.
It's cozy, heartwarming and it's the perfect book for cat lovers and for anyone who want to read a feel-good book.
It's the perfect Christmas novel with a lovely cast of characters, both feline and human.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to Avon and Netgalley for this ARC
This was my first exposure to Alfie, a cat with a great sense of person, and his family George and Tiger but I expect it won't be my last. Using a cat to look at the people who live on Edgar Road is a great way to introduce us to the characters. You'll care more, possibly, about the cats (I did) than about the people Alfie visit but that's ok. This has a good heart. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Two paws up!
Alfie the Doorstep Cat returns with his kitten George in the fifth novel in this heartwarming series. This time he has new neighbours to befriend, as well as a taciturn elderly widower who is struggling to live independently to help and also the couple who own Alfie’s girlfriend, the mother of George. The new next door neighbours have returned to London from Japan and they have a house cat that never goes out. George is once again smitten!
With more friends and neighbours than ever, the time is ripe for Alfie and George to have more adventures. But as Christmas nears, can Alfie sort out all the problems and squabbles in his community and save the day. You bet he can!
I really enjoyed this novel and it was just lovely to meet the characters from the neighbourhood once again. The children are growing up and their parents are getting ready for Christmas and beyond. Everyone is very busy, the children are excited and their close friendships are thriving. Alfie’s family are hosting Christmas day this year, the same as last year at their holiday property and everyone is invited to join in the festivities. There’s even a fledgling romance in the air. Meeting Alfie’s three families one more is delightful, their characters and lives developing further. This novel is all about family and community and is a real feel-good read suitable for families and young adult readers alike. It’s highly recommended by me.
I received this novel through my membership of NetGalley and from publisher Avon in return for an honest review. Thank you most sincerely for my copy.
In the run up to Christmas, what better way to get into the spirit than spend some quality time with Alfie, George and friends.
This particular story has a very sombre feel to it. I can't go into why but there was definitely a few teary moments that had me reaching for the tissues. In parts, it really does make for some emotional reading.
The story really gets you into that festive mood. The whole sense of that time of year came flooding through the pages and I was getting as excited as the rest of the families in the book. It almost had me rushing to get all my Christmas decorations up. Almost but not quite.
I love how through a cat, the author manages to tackle lots of everyday subjects. Again I don't want to go into any real detail with the story but it will make you sit back and think of others. Christmas can be a hard time for people for various reasons but I love how people come together, with the help of Alfie of course and show what the true spirit of Christmas is all about.
Alfie In The Snow is a festive read that will make you feel all warm and cosy inside. It will have you laugh and cry as well as empathise with the families in the story. Another delightful and entertaining read in the Alfie series that can all be read as stand alone's.
This is a first for me by this author, but not my last.
I didn't realise this was book five in a series, I'll be looking up the first four as it was most enjoyable.
Life in Edgar Road through the eyes of a feline trio... Alfie, Tiger and George.
Edgar Road is very quiet in the lead up to Christmas... that is until we meet Sylvie, a recently divorced mum, to daughter Connie, who have both moved back to London from Japan. They bring their cat Hannah with them. Can they make their new house a home in time for the festive season?
At the end of Edgar Road a cranky old neighbour twitches his windows and refuses to be drawn into the community spirit. Maybe all he needs is a bit of kindness shown to get him in the mood for the season!
As the snow starts to fall, Alfie and George have their work cut out for them to bring the street together in time for Christmas.
A heart-warming feel-good novel that is perfect for the festive season... with lots of laugh-out-loud moments as well as some tearful ones.
I'm looking forward to more in this series as well as catching up on previous stories.
Thank-You Netgalley for my ARC.
This is book n. 5 in Alphie's story, but it can also be read as a stand alone book. Alphie is a cat that likes to help people, and now he has George by his side, a kitten he considers his own son and who takes after him.
In this book we met Sylvie, a woman who has been recently divorced and moved back to London from Japan and her daughter, Connie. They also have a she cat called Hannah. We are going to be "following" this family pretty close, as well as a cranky old neighbourgh and the rest of the usual suspects. There is also a story involving Alphie and his cat girl Tiger that is gonna be very sad to read, but that I somewhat felt that ended up dragging a bit as it was constantly present even when mayne ot wasn't needed to be, because I felt it didn't felt natural but forced sometimes.
All in all, it was a good book in the seriew, but IMO I felt it dragged a bit on some points and needed more action. There is also some attitudes that didn't made a lot of sense, i.e. Sylvie's towards Connie and Aleksy. I know it gets explained in the book at the end and the book needed that twist, but it felt like stretched to far to me, even the cats thought it made no sense! hehe
With the intro of a certain character by the end of the book I guess maybe Sylvie's life is gonna get sorted out. And that means... another Alphie's book? Yes, please! :)
OH WHAT A
FANDABBIEDOZIE BOOK.
Life in Edgeware road through the eyes of the feline Trio. Alfie his girlfriend Tiger and Baby George.
Life is certainly not dull with this trio they don't miss a trick such a highly amusing read.
There antics and what they get up to is so funny a running commentary of the day to day lives of humans and there feline friends great excitement when the Exotic Hana moves in to the house next to Alfie's family. A great laugh out loud book but have the tissues ready
I can highly recommend this book it deserves more than the 5stars This book would really appeal to cat lovers.
Delighted to get an early copy from netgalley in return for an honest review.
I loved this book!! Even though it is book 5 in the series it is the first one I've read and I understood what was going on. You will fall in love with Alfie and all his friends. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Thank you Avon Books UK via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this very enjoyable book. This is my honest opinion.
Even though this was the 5th book in the Algiers series, I was able to read it and enjoy it without having read the other books in the series. I liked this book so much I recommended it to both of my daughters. I thought it was a cute story with fun characters and enjoyable for kids and adults to read with their kids. We are adding the Algiers series to our reading list—my kids and I.
Alfie in the Snow is Book 5 in Rachel Wells Alfie Series.
Alfie is back along with his trouble making kitten George.
The snow is falling , and Alfie and George are working hard to bring the street together with new neighbors moving in.
Even though this is book 5, this story acts great as a stand alone novel.
This is a fabulous, heartwarming story for the holidays.
