Det. Lacy Flint is going undercover in Cambridge to discover why there has been a rash of suicides, mostly of female college students. Great storytelling with some thrilling moments, as well as comical ones. Enjoyable read and a page-turner at times for sure.

This book got me hooked on the Lacy Flint series, I had to read the first book and have pounced on every book since, Sharon Bolton has become a must-read author.

Lacy is a riveting protagonist because she doesn't suffer from the belief that a woman must be pleasant to be good at her job. She's a tenacious detective, does things her way, and gets results. She doesn't feel the need to smile or make anyone comfortable in her presence. If you don't like her, that's your problem.

In DEAD SCARED, she puts her life at risk to go undercover in a harrowing case involving women being murdered. Her attraction to another detective is complicated but the two definitely have heat when they're together. Fans looking for a unique heroine and unsettling crime fiction should check out this series.
