This was a beautiful mix of sweet and sexy. The characters were well-written--May was equal parts sweet, smart, hardworking, and broken. She was strong but vulnerable. Once Lochlan got his head out of his ass, he was a delicious book boyfriend. I really enjoyed this book. Would read again.

This story started great, however I felt like the characters needed more development and not changing their mind so easily. Also, I’d have loved to read more of May’s POV. Overall, it was a nice read.

The writing kept me engaged in the book but all these BDSM elements kind of bored me. Maybe because I don’t read such books? (Yes, I do realize I requested this book on NetGalley and read the blurb but that was like a year ago so I think I wanted to read books like this one at that time but not anymore.)

Anyway, the heroine wants to take care of her family and doesn’t want any help from the hero, while all he wants is to protect her. Basically, typical BDSM book, I guess.

A big plus for me is that the whole book doesn’t revolve around bondage but it actually shows how close his family is and what a great character May is.

4 stars.

This is the first book that i read from Mari Carr. i loved this story of Lochlan falling in love with May. This has all the elements of a good romance included in it. Characters are also strong with an independence.
Would love to read the entire series

May Flowers starts a job as an assistant for CEO Lochlan Wilder. He is dubious of her qualifications, but she quickly proves her skills both in the office and the bedroom. Lochlan always was married to his job and never had an interest in a wife or kids. May takes care of her 2 nieces and her mom who is in the beginning stages of dementia. May wants to be independent, but Lochlan forces her to ask for help and admit that she can't do it all. The book ends with May getting pregnant and them getting married.

This is the first book I have read in this series. I'm mildly interested in finding out the other character's stories. I liked the chemistry between May and Lochlan and the BDSM sprinkled in made it more interesting than the basic office romance. I didn't think that May needed to be a virgin and Lochlan's transformation to a family man was abrupt. I think he needed a little more introspection and that would have added another element to the story

After April fools, I wasn't sure what to expect, but May Flowers was a pleasant surprise. There is no ow/om drama which was a huge winning point for me. I was so happy when Lochlan didn't call his booty call. Their story is focused on him, May and her family and it was all I could ask. After learning that May's last name is Flowers, I starting looking at the title with 2 different sets of eyes. One loves the explanation and the other finds it weird that the book and the heroine share the same name. Still, the title fits with the theme of the rest of the series, so I cannot complain.

I liked Lochlan and May's relationship. The didn't immediately fall onto the bed and they took some time to get to know each other. She entered his life even if he didn't like it and she slowly made his life better and brighter. He became the kind of person May could lean on and share her burden with. He was caring, loving and didn't hesitate to include May's nieces in his life. I would have loved to see more of the four of them and I do hope that they will appear in an upcoming book.

May Flowers
by Mari Carr

I could not put the book down, once I started to read this book; it will grab the reader’s attention right from the start. Wonderful, well written characters, that grow and changed throughout the book. She is new to the job, as his very, qualified administrative assistant; wants to be taken seriously, not seen as just young or pretty; she solves her own problems, helps take care of her mother and two nieces, she has custody of; but, is barely keeping her family together, and needs this job. He is stubborn, sworn to never marry or have the K word (kids), and a bad-boy boss; the big alpha male type. He is happy running his own company and making millions; until the right woman came along that knocked him off his axis. There is something about her that is calling to him, as he goes into Viking protector mode. Oh, how the mighty fall; got-to love it! The perfect couple, Cinderella meets super-hot, sexy Irish man. I loved watching him fall so hard for her!!

Office romance is not one of my favorite story types; especially with the stereotypical boss and secretary falling in love, but this one I could not put down. This story sucked me in and kept me wanting to read more, waiting with baited breath to see how and if the male-leading character would pull out his happy ending. I especially enjoy the close family ties that she highlights, and Wild Irish story-line. There are equal parts that are admirable and irritating, in the story. I enjoyed this office romance, super sweet, super sexy and swoon worthy too. I can’t wait to see who is the next to fall for “the curse” or fall in love so hard if leaves bruise!!! The perfect mix of dominant/submissive, romance, drama and lots of laughs and love from all the family!

This is my first book to read by Mari Carr, make you feel like you are part of the journey and I cannot wait to read her the next book. This book hit all the spots in a romance story; a very protective and possessive alpha male with a strong, kind, and sweet heroine. Mari Carr needs a standing ovation!!! Thank you, Mari Carr; for giving us a wonderful book in Wilder Irish. Super sexy and fun book in a great series! Book five (I found out) in Wilder Irish series. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone, as I did. But, I am going to find the first four, and I see a marathon re-read coming on; reading this one again, in order. I received and invitation to read this book, in ARC form; in exchange for an honest and impartial review. Will have to give it 4.5-stars, well done. Another new author for me to read.

This is one of the sweetest love stories I have ever read.

Mari Carr is a wonderful storyteller and this is such a beautiful, heartwarming romance. It had me under its spell from beginning to end. I just loved it!

It reminds me that love can conquer things if given the chance. This book had me laughing and crying and really, really hot and bothered. I could not be happier with their HEA and how everything played out.

Mari Carr is one of my all time favorite authors. I have read almost all of her books and I will continue to do so if she continues to write such fantastic books as this one. This book captivated me from the first chapter and I couldn't put it down. (family had to eat cereal for a few meals).... Can't wait to read what she puts out next.

Lochlan has no idea what his administrative assistant was thinking when she hired May Flowers to take over after she retired. He promised he would give her six months and then she was gone. She tempted him in ways he never dreamed possible and all those adamant denials of marriage and kids slowly drifted away. He would become her protector and a warrior to fight her battles. Each one that would threaten to consume her every breath and lead you straight into a panic attack. She would have to slowly learn she could rely on someone else and have everything she desired.

Delightful romance

May Flower by Mari Carr was a fun, sexy read. I loved the sparks that flew between May and Lochlan. The underlying story about May's family had real heart. This is the first book I've read in this series and it read well as a stand alone. However the appearance by Lochlan's family were so much fun they make me want to read the other books in this series.
I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley.

Wonderful read. This is typical of Mari Carr books. This is a couple the needs to be together but they do not get their HEA without some challenges.
They are strong individuals who complement each other, The sprinkling of bdsm made it a hot read.

May needs a job. She ends up working as an assistant for Lochlan Collins, a successful businessman. Lochlan is used to his former assistant who was an older woman, not this young woman May. He doesn’t believe she can handle working for him. May proves him wrong. May has many obligations; a mother who is not well and two nieces that she is now raising after her brother and sister in laws’ death. Life is hard for May, but she is a strong woman who is determined to make it without any help from anyone. As a matter of fact, she has great difficulty asking for help. Lochlan is a confirmed bachelor who has no desire for a wife or kids. One night he brings May home because of a family emergency, and he sees how she is living and how she is responsible for her family’s welfare. The Viking in him comes out as he tries to help May. She of course is resistant.
I loved this book. While May comes off on first impression as a quiet, weak woman, we find out how strong she really is. She is caring for her family while denying a life and happiness for herself. Lochlan does his best to make her life easier even though she fights him every step of the way. As their relationship outside the office begins to develop, May discovers her submissive side that Lochlan is more than willing to help her with. He also discovers that his heart has room for a family. I enjoy the relationship between the main characters and the Collins family. I was rooting for both May and Lochlan to find their happily ever after and I was not disappointed. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Mari Carr painted such a beautiful story with May Flowers. I enjoyed the story being told from the view of both Lochlan and May. Pop Pop is not seen as a main character in my opinion, yet he captivates your heart and leaves you crying tears of joy in the end. The ending is much like the beginning, bringing the story full circle. This was one that I would love to read more of.

I normally do not read BDSM novels just not my preference and I didn't realize as I had quickly read the description that this was that kind of novel. Despite my apprehension I was pleasantly surprised that May was a strong, independent character in spite of her sexual preference as a submissive. I liked the secondary characters and the way the hero's dad gives his sound advice about being a warrior and a protector. Although May is reluctant to accept the hero's help, she eventually learns to let go and share her load.

Now sexually this novel is true to its genre and level 10 hot. But what is confusing and slightly disturbing about her giving the hero the permission to take control in the bedroom is that this woman's life is falling apart.

She lives with two orphaned nieces, a sick mother in a poor, unsafe neighborhood. She's barely keeping it together emotionally and she suffers from panic attacks. I m just not convinced that she can realistically enjoy losing control sexually when she fights the hero when he tries to help. I was hoping he would be more gentle with her since she appears emotionally fragile. And I was waiting for her to get it together sooner so she could truly appreciate what the hero is offering in ways of love and protection. Unfortunately she never really does.

Now the hero is also a surprisingly character. He starts out not wanting anything to do with May because she is too young for the job of his PA. He swears off relationships and kids but then less than mid-way through the book he does a 360 and miraculously discovers he wants to marry and have kids with her after just a few encounters. This radical change happens too quickly to be believable. I was really hoping he would gradually get to know her and help her get on her feet before forcing her to accept their relationship and rushing her into marriage.

In spite of the inconsistencies, I thought this novel had amazing dialogue and a good foundation for an amazing work romance troupe.
