While not quite as cute as This is a Taco, this is still a winner and will be a welcome addition to our library's collection.
A funny book about a clumsy moose. Facts in the first half and humour in the second half. Good illustrations.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the eARC
It’s a sweet book, but probably not for our shop. The reasons for this are two fold, one - it’s quite American, the moose is more of a US based animal, and the spellings and items like bagels and tacos etc are more incidentally US, which doesn’t always go well.
Secondly our books tend to be a bit more niche, with a message, we like to carry books to help kids, emotions, grief, anger, LGBT issues etc, whereas this is charming, but not quite on brand.
Very cute though.
This is a book about a moose named Whoopsie, who isn't the best moose there is ... but he is certainly enthusiastic! The book starts off with facts about moose, with Whoopsie thinking that he isn't the best moose for the job. Soon, Whoopsie falls & wrecks the book. He messes up the letters, which results in him making funny (and very untrue) facts about moose. It then proceeds into him realizing he' s a funny moose, so he tells stories about his wild falls.
I thought this was really cute! It was fun to see Whoopsie gain his confidence & realize that even if he isn't like the other moose, he is still a good moose. I also enjoyed the random moose facts throughout.
I love picture books where the character in the story interacts with the book, and I really enjoyed Andrew Cangelose and Josh Shipley's previous book, This Is a Taco! I didn't find This Is a Whoopsie! as charming as that first book, but I still got a kick out of it nonetheless. I was especially partial to the friendship between Whoopsie and Bird. I also appreciated the positive message of finding what you're good at and valuing yourself.
I received a digital ARC from the publisher via NetGalley.
This is a book of information on Moose. Then it goes into the story of Whoopsie the Moose who fell alot. His friend the bird tries to help him and root him on to keep going. This is a great book to learn the basics of Moose and what they can and can not do. It is also a story of good friends and not giving up. The illustrations are very good and I love the face on Whoopsie. This would be a good bedtime story or story for ages 3+. It is short enough to hold interest.I really liked this story and the message it gives.
I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
A very entertaining book that I could not help but think that my students will love. I highly recommend this for the artwork and story.
I came across this book after reading the author's "This is a taco." Moose and his bird friend are an adorable pair. I loved the participatory nature of the writing and would recommend it to fans of Mo Willem's Pigeon books. This is a witty and fun read!
5 stars
Whoopsie is an adorable, clumsy moose. Great little book with some interesting moose facts and a silly moose. In same style as first book in series – This is Taco!
A fun, short read that will make you smile.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher, Diamond Book Distributors, for the opportunity to read this ARC.
This book was adorable. Even as an adult, I found it an entertaining read. Whoopsie may not be as great as the other moose at showing you some things, but he has special characteristics that are all his own, showing you that no matter who you are, you have something to give this world.
If you are looking for cute books for little kids, or just want to read one, this is a great choice.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Diamond Books for the ARC. First off I was shocked at the price, if it really sells for $15.99 then I personally don't think it would be worth buying. It is an ok book. Has no real plot and basically tells you very little about being a moose. It's very short, yes it's cute that he is clumsy, but it's also silly. The graphics could have been better. I rate this a 3.
A book that makes the Taco/Squirrel companion volume look a work of genius. Pointless.

This is a silly book, about a moose so clumsy that he knocks all the words around in the book, and isn't sure how to put them back together the right way. So, he has not only broken the fourth wall, but has stopped all over it.
At the beginning of the story, he is telling you true moose facts, by the end, he is making stuff up.
Here he is being clumsy.

Similar in tone to This is Taco. Little kids should love learning both true and silly moose facts.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
This is an adorable book! I love the positive message about self-acceptance and perseverance told through a clumsy moose’s perspective. The story will make kids laugh and I give the author credit for creatively having tbe characters (literally) interact with the text.
I loved this book. It is completely charming, while giving good information. The protagonist is shy, a bit insecure, self-deprecating and has not very good friends among other moose. But he HAS one good friend, who has his back, offers good advice and helps him find something he is good at. Sometimes it is better to have one real friend, than a lot of fake ones.
The illustrations are lovingly drawn, with mostly natural colours. Such a refreshing alternative to todays bling-bling more bigger better brighter attitude. Really lovely. (Can I have a t-shirt with Whoopsie on it please?)
I'm a grown woman (almost 40) and this book gave me some much needed smiles this evening. Would definitely recommend for children to read with their parents, as this book touches on a few topics that can be very helpful.
This Is a Whoopsie is an engaging and delightful book for children. Whoopsie, so named because he falls a lot, is a clumsy moose. In the beginning there are interesting facts about moose, but then it gets very silly. Luckily there is a small blue bird who is a good friend to Whoopsie and who tries to guide him. Children will enjoy this amusing book.
From the same writer and illustrator as "This is a Taco", this books is very similar. And still original, and totally adorable. I love how the characters in this series (ok, sofar only 2 books, but I really would like to see more...) interact with the reader and the book itself... a rather whimsical and original take on books for kids.
I received a copy through Netgalley.
Funny, funny, funny! What a delightful little story about an (almost seven foot) moose who is quite the klutz.
The humour is great for both adults and children alike and would make a great bedtime book because of all the wonderful sounds you can make while reading the story.
It would be great to have this book on goodreads.
This book is cute and funny. I enjoyed the unexpected humor. This book would be fun to read aloud to children at home or in a classroom setting. I could imagine little ones laughing about Whoopsie's antics.
