This steamy, spicy, baseball romance has great characters, a plot that moves along and writing that keeps you turning page after page.
Connor and Gia will need to overcome doubt, family obstacles, trust issues, and secrets from the past if they are going to have a real connection. The chemistry between them is H-O-T and is off the charts, will they be able to ignore their feelings without the entire team finding out? What will happen if his agent figures it out, will the flame fizzle before it can develope?
In a world where one small fact can be twisted to benefit the manipulator being in the public eye will have consequences. What would you do if you put your career in the hands of someone who might not have your best interest?
Get ready for a fun read.
I received an advance reader copy for an honest and fair review.
Contemporary sports romance with alternative POV between the main characters, Connor and Gia. Both characters could be annoying at times--with Connor being a major jerk more than once--but somehow the story works. There's definitely no denying the chemistry between the two. Overall, Hard and Fast is a quick read and will certainly appeal to anyone looking for a decent sports-related romance.
This book was a good one where Connor and Gia shared a moment a few years back but when they find out that they work pretty much side by side they try to put feelings aside. Sometimes though chemistry and attraction is too much to withstand. Connor and Gia both had a troubled past at times it seemed they both overcame them but Connor’s family held him back. I wish Gia stood up for herself more to Connor but she also should have minded her own business when things weren’t willingly shared. Connor didn’t always treat Gia the best and his sister was the worst but Gia keeps coming back so Connor keeps up the pattern until it finally breaks. This story was a good one that kept me intrigued throughout and I will definitely read more.
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this title.
However, I was not able to finish this as I was not able to connect with the story and the way the characters were written. There was just something about them and I never connected with them, or with their characters in any meaningful way...which is tough in a romance story.
I have chosen to mark this title as a "DNF" and I apologize for the delay in sending this response to this title.
Thank you!
This is book 3 in the Locker Room Diaries series. Kathy Lyons offer readers Hard and Fast and as a stand alone it works well. I appreciated the fact that the hero and heroine were more mature characters. They had strong sexual chemistry. I found them to be engaging, however my feelings towards them shifted several times in the story. I was satisfied by the changes and growth that occurred by the ending. I can not say the same for the secondary character, the hero's sister. I disliked her intensely and I think Ms Lyons may have wanted that reading outcome. Overall, I enjoyed the story overall. I would read others in the series based on Hard and Fast.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation
This was a fast paste and sexy read!I am a big baseball fan and I was excited to read this story about Connor, the hot back catcher for a Major League Baseball team! The drama was really crazy in the story and especially at the end. Gia and Connor were good together, and they did have great chemistry.
The third entry in the Locker Room Diaries was an enjoyable, quick read, but it wasn't as solid as others in the series. If you are like me, you're happy to fill in the blanks and you want to know the story for Connor and Gia. Definitely one click and read for that reason alone because there is lots of good to be had in this one. The downside is that it's just so frustrating to see the obstacles thrown in their path in the form of Connor's sister Sophia and the roadblocks he himself puts up. By the time you get to the end, you're happy to find a resolution, but you will feel like it took Connor way too long to figure it all out. You'll be glad Gia is a saint and stuck around...
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Rounding up from 3.5 stars.
I thought Connor and Gia were hot and fun. Connor needed to get a clue a little sooner than he did about taking charge of his own life but even book boyfriends aren't perfect. I am not always a fan of sports romances but this book managed to use the baseball setting effectively.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Great story by a great author. I really enjoyed this book by a local author. I enjoyed this baseball romance. I was happy that the male lead finally got his act together and left the toxic people in his life and moved on with the one that made him happy. A great journey for our main characters.
These two were overly annoying in this book. Gia was nosey and personal items in Conners life that weren't really her business and she just wouldn't leave it alone. Take a hint already. Conner, on the other hand, was a jerk on and off throughout the story and related Gia poorly.
This is the second book by Kathy Lyons and the second book in this series, that I've read.
And just as with the other book I've read, Sliding Home, I felt quite contradictory about some things that I've read.
When looking into the characters a bit more: I thought Gia was an interesting and fun main character to read about. I loved seeing her going about her job and living her life. I also really liked seeing her with Connor! When these two characters are together, there's firework!
I felt contradictory towards Connor, our male lead. He's definitely a swoon worthy character from time to time but when it came to things regarding his sister he made stupid decision which hurt Gia. And sure, it makes him human and realistic but somehow I couldn't completely Fall for this guy because of that. And boy, do I love to fall for the hero in a romance story. So that was a bit sad haha.
And my god, I really disliked Connor's sister and she brought such strong feelings about haha. On the one hand, it's a good sign though, when characters make you feel this intensely, even if they're Ahole characters. But on the other hand it's really frustrating with a character like Sophia, a character that you almost start hating with all your heart and soul, lol.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read. I've had remarks on the story, but there was enough to love as well. I loved the sports elements balanced into the story-line, the romance between Connor and Gia was really well written I think and the writing of this author lured me in yet again. This is a sports romance that was fun and easy to read.
Conor Hart is the catcher of the pennant racing team. He is having issue with his knees and is looking to make the change to a power hitter. Gia is the publicist for the team he has been lusting over for months. When their worlds collide and feelings are states it gets HOT HOT. I hated his sister/publicist and couldn't wait for him to tell her off.
Can't wait for more in this series.
This was my first book by this author and it was very well written.
I loved it and it won't be my last.
I voluntarily reviewed an Reader Copy of this book which I received through
Netgalley.
This was a good read. The drama was really crazy at the end, but most of the time it was a good read. I thought Gia and Connor were good together, and they did have great chemistry. I had my problems with both of them at different times. Gia came across as really clingy and a little stalkerish at the start. She was in love with him and wanting his babies after like 2 encounters. Connor had his problems with Gia's job, but then would say he didn't see her that way. It was confusing. Sophia was a complete nut job, and I don't care how much someone has done for you in the past, you can't let them manipulate you. Connor was blind to most of what Sophia was doing until the end. I liked Cassie, and was happy to see her become stronger. I liked the ending, and was happy to see them get their HEA.
I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I am so over the moon right now. This book had me on a high the whole time. I hadn’t read a book and then couldn’t stop thinking about it days and days later. Definitely made me pick it up again to read all over again. I was reeled in at the very beginning and with every chapter I just wanted more and more and more. Hard and Fast is a must read of 2018!! It deserves a lot more than the 5 stars I can give it. Can’t wait for more books by this amazing and talented author. Absolutely and definitely recommend this book to all book lovers out there
Connor Hart is getting older in a profession where youth is prized above almost anything else. As the catcher for the Indianapolis Bobcats, his body, especially his knees, needs to be in top shape. Unfortunately, 27 years is considered old, and his body has been letting him know it. Connor hates doing press of any kind, especially interviews, but his sister, Sophia, who is also his publicist, insisted. But then she starts screeching at the interviewer, and at Gia Kubic, the team's publicist, Connor just can't deal. And he really can't deal with Gia distracting him all the time. Two years previous, they had a moment, but it's not going to happen now that she works for the team. Or is it? Who's to say they can't sneak around? All they have to do is keep it secret and everything will be fine.
Except it won't be if Sophia has anything to say about it. And Sophia, right there, she's the reason for 3 stars. Well, she and the fact that Connor is kind of a jerk, a judgey one, who constantly compares Gia to his overbearing, crazy sister. If I were Gia, I would have kicked Connor to the curb the first time he judged me and accused me of lying like he did to Gia. I did like Gia, and the story itself, though. Sports romances are one of my favorite things, and this one could have been great if only Sophia weren't in it and if Connor weren't a jerk and didn't allow his sister to control him and his relationship with Gia.
So I'm giving this a non-passing review, but the writing is good so I'll probably read more of this author in the future.
I received an ARC for a review.
Things that were just great:
1) fun characters
2) hot and streamy with just the right amount of sexy
I could not put it down. Kathy Lyon has done it again..another well written materpiece
WOW
This book was amazing! It had all the key parts that made you not want to put it down! We have the evil sister who has some crazy ideas/motives to improve Connor's image. We have Connor who is a very private person, but at the same time someone who is easy to love. He's incredibly protective of his younger sister and you don't find out until midway through the book, but he has very good reasons for being so protective of her. Then you have Gia who comes from her own rough background, but despite that, she is a very positive and trusting person.
I loved the dynamics including those between Gia and Connor's extended family.
Thank you netgalley for another good ARC
Drammma-Rama. The dynamic between Connor and Gia was full of angst . I didn’t read the first book so I wasn’t introduced to Gia but I did like how their romance takes so many twists and turns
You see both back story’s what molded these characters and how it played a toll on their development of a relationship. I couldn’t put this down. This will definitely be a book to read again
Great book I look forward to reading more by Kathy
Pro baseball catcher Connor Hart is having a problem with his oldest sister who likes to handle all of his PR and the new PR women for the team he is with, Gia Kubic. There is also the issue of Gia and Connor kissing at the New Year’s party that his sister caught and since then it has been acquired between Gia and her, with Connor stuck in the middle. Sophie Connors's sister has really been using him for most of his life but he doesn’t see it that way. What he does see is a beautiful women in Gia and he is attracted to her every time they are together. The problem is that he compares her job to what his sister does and when he realizes the two are nothing the same it looks like it is too late for Gia was tired of waiting around, and when his sister twists more information he really sees what is happening, but is it too late for him to go after Gia the women he finally figures out he is in love with. A good story with good characters.
