“The Sheriff’s Little Matchmaker” by Carrie Nichols is a quick-paced and sexy story with characters you’d like to have living next door.
Sasha Honeycutt is starting a new phase of her life by moving to Rose Creek, Texas. She’s an elementary school teacher and teaches second grade.
Remy Fontenot is the town sheriff and his daughter, Evie, is in Sasha’s class.
Sasha and Remy are immediately attracted to each other, have been ever since they met in a New Orleans piano bar. But Sasha doesn’t want a relationship with someone in law enforcement, while Remy realizes his daughter needs a mom and Sasha is the perfect candidate.
“The Sheriff’s Little Matchmaker” has a fun opening scene and an adorable seven-year-old. Ms. Nichols has a knack for creating charming and realistic characters.
3.5.
This was a sweet story. The characters were well written and the dialogue was realistic and fun. I loved the setting and the snippets of Cajun French phrases/pet names that were scattered throughout.
There is the usual push and pull and hidden backstories that hinder an easy path to love. Evie, Remy’s daughter, is adorable and really helps to make the story come alive. This is a nice take on love, family and values which is a nice change from all the jump into bed and then backtrack to love stuff... It was a nice way to spend a rainy day, would recommend.

A chance for new beginnings is always sweet. Remy is a smooth talker and Sasha is like a skittish colt he has to tame. He keeps talking to her soothingly until eventually she is eating out of his hands. They become a complete family with their little matchmaker Evie, who is vivacious and tenacious.
A sweet quick read. I liked the story and characters an I enjoyed this but just felt it was lacking something a bit more.
Sheriff Remy Fontenot!! Hot, hot, hot!! Panty melting hot. All alpha and bossy, but the sweetest father to his little girl. What a gem she is and she is indeed quite the little matchmaker.
Sasha Honeycutt shares one smoking hot kiss while in New Orleans with friends who dare her to loosen up. "Go kiss a stranger." So she stepped outside her carefully constructed safe zone and kissed the hottest man she's ever put her eyes on. Easy. But she sure didn't forget that kiss.
She moved to Louisiana to get away from the small town she lived in and tired of being seen as the poor widow. Her husband was a police officer and was killed in the line of duty. She needed to get away, so when a job came up to teach first grade in this small town her took it. Loving her new town and her job, she had called in a parent of a little girl, her work suddenly slipping. What Sasha got was the surprise of her life when Sheriff Remi Fontenot walks in, father to Evie to discuss reasons why her work might be slipping. All Remi sees is the woman who disappeared in the night and he turned half of New Orleans upside looking for her afterward and couldn't find her. Frustrated the mudbugs out of him and her she is. This man is on a mission and that mission is Sasha. Sasha is determined to keep things on a teacher/parent level but between Evie, who truly is a sweet child and Remy and his commanding self, the woman doesn't have a chance. The struggle was real here! What a great read this is! Carrie Nichols covered all the bases with this gem and it is a fantastic, fun and sexy read. And all the rest is lagniappe!!

Sweet feel good story. 3.5 stars

I had to think about this one for a couple days. There are so many elements in the story that I really really enjoy, Remy being one of them. He is a delicious specimen of a man that’s not to be missed.
Single dad who has a serious crush on his daughter‘s teacher who happened to share a amazing kiss with him in an anonymous way.
The story has a fun plot and while I was all in on Remy, Sasha was a good character match for him but she tended to annoy me every so often on throughout the story. Not normally a rule breaker, she never wanted to admit they actually were a thing. Remy was overly patient and so sweet to her.
This romance is cute; just an overall sweet story. A clean romance for your entertainment with hits of hotness and a perfect HEA.

Why is it little eyes can see what exactly is needed for their parent...They see what is missing, what would be good for the parent and figure out a way to make it all happen...
Carrie Nichols takes this idea and brings it to life in The Sheriff's Little Matchmaker.
She gives us Sasha Honeycutt; a woman who is tired of being known as the widow of a police officer. All the looks and comments have made her relocate to Texas. Before she settles in with her new students, the parents and is knee deep in the semester, she is talked into going away for a weekend to New Orleans with a bunch friends. There she is teased to get out of her shell and have a little fun.
A bet is made at the bar and before she has time to change her mind, she lays a kiss on a studly cowboy the both of them won't soon forget. It was yummy and worth it. Maybe New Orleans keeps the same secrets Vegas does...like what happens there will stay there...
Remy Fontenot knows an excellent kiss when he's experienced one... the one this woman laid on him was something else. Only she disappeared before he could get a second. Remy has to put it aside and refocus on his being the Sheriff of his town and taking care of his seven year old daughter Evie.
Time may go by but both Sasha and Remy think back to that bar kiss and when it turns out Sasha is Evie's teacher, both are taken aback. It was a standard parent/teacher conference not meant to be anything special...but when Sasha sees Remy and it turns out he is Evie's parent and a sheriff too... that is it. No more dreaming about him. He is off limits...That is the correct thing to do...
Only Little Evie has other ideas....
This was a very easy sweet, clean tale. Evie was adorable, Remy, a sexy Sheriff/Cowboy and Sasha, a woman who finally saw what was real and important.

What a pleasant surprise this charming story was. Ms Nichols is a new to me author so I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading. A story about a small town sheriff, his motherless young daughter, and the new school teacher may sound like a cliché, this one is anything but that. The characters are realistically endearing, full of depth and personality...they jumped to life in my mind’s eye. The dialog was smart and genuine, the humor subtle and at times smile inducing.
From the onset, Sasha intrigued me, her nervousness was palpable in the scene that was set for her first encounter with Remy...he demonstrated his richness for life in seeing the humor of their encounter...his history drilled down to an elemental level of character...leaving a lasting impression of his innate goodness.
My recommendation for anyone who isn’t familiar with this author would be to take the chance of reading this story, I’m confident you won’t be disappointed.

3 Stars. Remy Fontenot and Sasha Honeycutt share an earth shattering kiss in a bar in New Orleans, only for Sasha to perform a Cinderella act and disappear into the night.
Unbeknownst to Remy and Sasha, Remy’s daughter Evie, who is one of Sasha’s second grade students has decided to become a matchmaker and bring her favourite teacher and her dad together so she can have a mother. This involves a parent/teacher conference that brings Remy and Sasha face-to-face again.
What follows is a cute, clean romance with lots of witty banter between the Hero and Heroine that made me smile.

Sasha met Remy, a small town sheriff while both were visiting New Orleans. They had an instant attraction, but didn’t expect to ever see each other again. However, much to Remy’s surprise, Sasha is his seven year old daughter’s much beloved new teacher. What Remy doesn’t know is that Sasha’s late husband was a police officer who was killed in the line of duty, so she has vowed to never date another police officer. Against her better judgment, Sasha lowers her defenses and lets Remy in. However, she is devastated when she learns that he isn’t looking for love in marriage, so she breaks up with him. After some soul searching and a swift kick in the rear from his younger brother, Remy comes to his senses!
We've all be been there, right? You've had a few drinks and your friend dares you to go kiss a hot guy. So you do, because why not? You'll never see the guy again. At least that's what Sasha thinks when she lays a hot one on a sexy dude in New Orleans.
A couple weeks later, Remy, the hottie shows up in her classroom for a parent teacher conference. Turns out his daughter Evie is in Sasha's class and has been singing her teacher's praises ever since Sasha took over for the previous teacher. Remy is thrilled to see Sasha again, while she's less then thrilled at Remy's pursuit of her.
The Sheriff's Little Matchmaker is a nice book. I liked it.

This book was such a sweet romantic read. I read it in one sitting. Sasha and Remy first meant in a bar where Sasha kissed him because of a bet she had made with her friends. What a kiss it was. Weeks later and both of them were still feeling the effects of that kiss. Next time they meet is during a teacher parent conference. Sasha being the teacher and Remy being the parent. The chemistry was still there. I have to say that Remy is my new book boyfriend. From the way he talked to how sweet and sexy he was. I think he could melt the panties off any women. Sasha was just as sweet and kind. Both of them are still healing from past hurt and both of them have there feelings put behind a big brick wall. When you add in the match making of an adorable daughter and a couple of towns people and you have one amazing read. I am really hoping that Ethan's book is next. Thanks Net Galley. Okay, subtle - she is not...not at all. But she is absolutely charming and sweet and made me smile and giggle a lot. I'm talking about Evie, the little matchmaking daughter of Rose Creek's sheriff Remy Fontenot. When Remy got kissed by a fascinating stranger in a bar, he didn't expect to find her in his daughter's classroom back in Rose Creek after having searched unsuccessfully for her in New Orleans!
To date the father of a student doesn't sound like a good idea, especially as this is also another lawman. Being a policeman's widow, Sasha never wants to feel that fear and that pain again that go along with loving (and losing) a lawman. But sometimes the brain has different ideas than the heart and Remy proves to be rather irresistible, especially when he knows what he wants and goes after it.
Smalltown life and the charm of the Cajun, make this novel special. I loved Remy and Evie, and I loved Sasha but I also fell in love with Remy's endearments and the images that the story brought up of the bayou and of life in the South in general. I found myself googling New Orleans and Louisianna and making plans to visit them one day because it just sounded amazing and special and different. In a good way, of course.
A wonderful feel-good novel for cold winter days and stormy days in autumn...or anytime and anywhere. I really enjoyed reading it.
I really enjoy this sweet little romance. I loved the little matchmaker she for sure made the book great! Really thought it was a fun summer read.
Sasha and Remy share a scorching kiss in New Orleans. Then she leaves and we later find out Remy looked all over for her. Unbeknownst to Remy, Sasha is his daughter's new second grade teacher. He finds this out when he goes to a parent/teacher meeting. His daughter was/is trying to match her papa with Sasha.
That same night, Sasha is on a date with his brother, Ethan, when Remy and Evie run into them at a restaurant and Ethan has to leave. She ends up having dinner with the two and Remy couldn't be happier.
I thought this book was cute, nut I do feel it was missing a little something. Not sure what that something was though. Overall, I would recommend this book.

Synopsis
Sasha Honeycutt kisses a handsome stranger at a bar and finds herself up against him in the town where she recently moved. Remy Fontenote, the good sheriff of Rose Creek,is not only her mysterious stranger but also the father of her student in the second-grade. Sparks raised up when they kissed as complete strangers, but things get complicated when they get to know each other more.
However, when the seven-year old Evie plays cupid for the two of them, Remy decides to give a chance to their romance. Unfortunately Sasha had vowed never to get involved with a man in law enforcement again! She came to the town looking for a new start and she was not going to repeat her mistakes. Is there more than just sizzling chemistry to them? Will they get past their self-made apprehensions and let love take it's course?
My thoughts
I am not a regular reader of romance books but whenever I get my hands on one, I enjoy it to the fullest by giving in completely to what the book promises. It's like relishing a sweet chocolate cake amidst your regular diet on a cheat day. Full of guilty pleasures!
When I picked up the book, I admit-going by it's cover- I was expecting a regular romance story. The plot here has been tried and tested over the times. How many times have we read about young kids playing cupid to get two people together? The point is I had a fair idea about what I was getting into and the book did not disappoint me at all. That first kiss on a bar in New Orleans was too steamy and even I was squirming at the sight of Remy Fontenot.
The second encounter between Remy and Sasha when they recognise each other was set up nicely. It set the stage perfectly for what was to come next. Sasha and Remy had an unarguably great chemistry.I am generally skeptical when it comes to kids playing match-makers for it can backfire so quickly. A simple unwanted dialogue, here or there, can take away the innocence of the kid and you feel they are forced into the part. But Evie was a well-balanced sweet and innocent kid. Except once ot twice I never questioned her innocence. Even then, I could relate to kids who carry deeper things in their heart and speak their mind surprising grown-ups. On that note, I would say Evie was completely believable.
Being an outsider, this book gave me insights about the Cajun culture. Now I know, it might not be the authentic representation or whatsoever. But it was definitely from this book that I got to know about this group of people. Isn't that what we love about books? You get to know so much more about the world than what you see around. Speaking of which, I am not much of a cat person yet I enjoyed Henry who made his presence felt even without a single dialogue!! I don't know why but I kept imagining him as Garfield. I think it has something to do with the description of a "big furry orange indoor cat".
Both our main characters had interesting back stories. It brought layers to their characters. Over the course of the story, we got to see more about Remy and what led him to think or say the things he did or said eventually. Somehow, Sasha's past was a bit mysterious even till the end of the book. Her apprehensions were revealed now and then. However given the fact that the book spent so much time for calling out her inner thoughts out loud, it lacked some context regarding the depth of her fears. That was my one problem with the book. Not that I didn't enjoy their self-reproaching moments, but you do not need to hear each and every word of what the characters are thinking. Even without those inner voices, you could feel the attraction and the tension betweeen them. The physical reactions when they were close to each other was enough to communicate the feelings. Not that I didn't want those voices at all, but it could have been toned down a little bit.
Now let's talk about the main content - Romance - in the book. The romance evolved along with the sotry which is one of the factors I enjoyed the most. As two strangers who parted after the steamy kiss, it was expected that they would be lethally attracted to each other. Then the story progressed and they got to know each other, their affections evolved as well which is what happens with real life too. The meadow with the wild flowers was my favorite part if I am allowed to pick one.
The fact that the story went to addressing their inner turmoils and actions based on what they thought as opposed to what they felt made it a matured story. Often people tend to act based on their deeper fears and turmoils rather than merely getting carried away by their emotions. It is only later you realise the need to salvage the situation which was clearly depicted here.
The third act ended with a rather trivial and predictable conflict. Sasha's fear for marrying a man with badge was adressed once in the story. Or may be I didn't quite buy it because going by the title, I was expecting the stakes to be a bit more higher. That being said it doesn't take away the good moments in the third act. Overall, if you have a relaxing weekend and wish to drown yourself in a romantic novel, this can be your pick. Only you have to be genuinely into the romnatic genre at least during the course of the book!!
“I’ve got money riding on this, so you better make it good”
With an opening line like that, Nichols draws you straight in. When Sasha is dared to kiss a stranger, and that stranger turns out to be a students father, she can’t believe it, what are the odds? And he’s a sheriff which is a red flag due to the death of her husband, who was a police officer.
The story moves at a good pace, and I adore Evie, Remys daughter. A very sweet, funny and with just enough passion
The Sheriff's Little Matchmaker by Carrie Nichols is a very sweet small town romance! With a schoolteacher and single father sheriff in a small town near the Texas-Louisiana border. The characters were warm and likeable. The culture of the town was wonderful!
such a sweet story.
i loved the whole small town gossip feel that Carrie Nichole brought into this story.
The character's are really relatable and Evie is probably my favorite character.
If you love sweet fast reads then i would highly recommend you go and pick this up when it comes
A sweet, quick read!
I liked the heroine, Sasha, a lot. Especially when she spent time with Remy's daughter Evie. She was so patient and sweet with Evie, even with the little girl's matchmaking attempts.
Sasha and Remy are fun together and bring a lot of humor to their time together. They each have their own issues to work through, but I appreciated that the book didn't feel too heavy.
The small town setting has the requisite gossipy locals, charming folk, and fun local establishments. I am looking forward to seeing more of the citizens of Rose Creek in future books.
