Beautiful photos and delicious recipes, as well as interesting anecdotes, made this an interesting read. I liked seeing how Canadian recipes differ from what I usually make. (Even though I realize that "Canadian" and "American" are huge categories, this book offers insight into at least one part of Canadian cuisine.)
Farm to Table by CBC Food Columnist, Andrew Coppolino, highlights the Stratford Chefs School in Ontario that has trained multiple chefs with their favorite food producers and farmers. There are wonderful recipes such as vegetable soup, pork, schnitzel, seared duck with wilted mustard greens, blueberry buns, salmon with miso and ginger glaze, melanzane parmigiana, and coffee roasted carrots with beautiful, colorful vivid photographs. There are also very interesting stories behind the recipes, foods, and the farm to table movement, a way of making mindful choices in supporting the local economy and increasing the flavor and nutrients in your food. This is a very nicely written book with glowing photographs and recipes that range from easy to more challenging, but worth a try.
I was really interested in this book. Unfortunately, I was not able to read this book as it was archived before I got time to see it.
Farm to Table is a beautifully written book with recipes and thoughts from Chefs who were trained at the not for profit Stratford Chefs School in Perth County, Ontario.
Some of the ingredients you will have to hunt for if you are not from Ontario but I am sure many could be substituted if you so wanted.
It is easy to read about the passion for food that these Chefs write about and also interesting to read is from the diverse places the Chefs have come from.
Absolutely loved the book and if I ever get to Ontario, I will be sure to look up some of these lovely Restaurants and sample their delicious food.

With an incredible array of snippets and recipes from local graduates of the Stratford Chefs School this was an interesting portrayal of the chefs and an insight into some of their creations. With an obviously Canadian flavour and local ingredients, being set in the Perth County of Ontario, it was interesting to read a little about them, their insights into being a chef and of course their recipes. While many of the recipes are well beyond my capacity in the kitchen they were interesting to read and there were a few that I learnt from, for example the Lamb Shank recipe with its method of roasting the shanks (I usually brown them in a fry pan) and the use of Orzo Pasta.

Fantastic approach to the eat what you grow or eat what is grown locally mind set. We would all be healthy and happier if we could eat fresh wholesome food that has little processing. Mr Coppolino has helped increase my skills by giving me new ideas on what to do with the bounty from my large garden. His stories help support his recipes and make learning new recipes much easier.
I requested this book because I was looking for an interesting and healthy recipe to make, but honestly most of these are quite "fancy" for lack of a better word. The writing and pictures are lovely, but quite specific to the Stratford region. Clearly this is the point, but never having visited Stratford myself, it was difficult to appreciate without the proper context.

It's a beautifully laid out book full of info about various Farms, Restaurants, Chef's and producers from all over Perth County. Each documenting who they are and what they do, located - and contains a specialty recipe from each of them.
I'm not sure I'm skilled enough to replicate most of these, but they look incredible. I can't wait to find out.

I found the stories in this book wonderfully interesting, but the recipes themselves have some specialty items that are not readily available everywhere, so you may have to hunt some ingredients down to try some of the recipes. But the book is heartwarming and a testament to making a dream come true with hard work and dedication.
