Great Second chance book. Captivating characters, good story line. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of Romancing the Receiver by Elizabeth Spaur that I read and reviewed.
This was a good book that had a lot of suspense and romance in it. Even though it is part of a series it is a stand alone.
I picked this book up because I am a huge football fan so I thought it would be a fun read and it was. I really enjoyed the characters and the story and I will definitely look for more of the Gridirion Knights.
I am giving this book four out of five stars.
Sometimes life throws you curve balls and even a pardon for crimes that you didn’t commit, can come too late when opportunities have been missed. Ben is a perfect example of fate at its worst; a man with the world at his finger tips, suddenly finds his hopes and dreams crushed and his freedom a thing of the past.
Lily comes from a family that’s steeped in an honourable profession that defends the innocent and upholds the law; however being a cop has never been her destiny. But once again fate has dealt out a cruel and unforgiving hand and Lily’s dream of becoming a world-renowned chef is left in the wind.
Ben and Lily’s story reveals their individual heartaches and fosters an attraction that is badly timed, yet hard to ignore. Broken and damaged, this unique couple will strive for what’s right and forge a relationship out of the ashes of incomprehensible loss. Romancing the Receiver is a wonderful story with a great plot, engaging characters and second chance together that demands to be grasped with both hands. I’m sure others readers will love this story as much as I did.
This was a fine book, but there was something about the authorial cadence that just didn't work for me. I liked both the hero and the heroine, but I didn't super care for the writing style.
A wonderful story about starting from the ground up and building what you want out of life This story draws you in from the word go and doesn't let you loose until the very last page
Both Ben and Lilly have faced loss and heartbreak He was charged with a crime he didn't commit and served two years before finally been proved innocent and released but it destroyed his chance at a professional football career but now he has been given a second chance as a football coach at Cormac University in King's Folly. Lilly didn't want to be a cop like the rest of her family she wanted to be a chef but when a freak accident caused her to lose her ability to taste that killed that dream she will leave been a cop behind after this last case she just needs to prove that her friend is innocent. The attraction between these two is instant but they are both so damaged that neither wants to get involved nut the heart knows what it wants and with the help of friends and townsfolk will these two damaged people finally find what they are looking for in one another
This is a great and satisfying love story that centers around rebuilding a college football program and a community. So the fact that both main characters are people who know what loosing everything is like and having to rebuild from the foundation up is a perfect combination with the central theme of the series.
The author writes a well-rounded story with passionate, realistic characters you can't help but cheer on and want to be friends with. The heat between Ben and Lily is undeniable, yet isn't the main focus of the relationship between the two people. Even the love scenes are hot and passionate without bordering on erotica. As a romance junkie who likes more love story than love scenes, I was pleasantly surprised and happy at the more classic romantic format than the more modern version of focusing on overly heated love scenes with the love story as more of an afterthought. I got my girl meets boy, fall in love, face down life's challenges, very very satisfying HEA I long for every time I pick up a romance novel. I believe romance junkies of all genres would truly enjoy this lovely sports inspired tale.
Ben and Lily's story. Really liked this story of a college football coach and a cop. I liked that the racial issue was a non-issue, and I liked them together. Really liked his cat and her attitude, and her sweet puppies were fun too. Would have been nice to see them together, but not a big deal. Didn't like how quick he was to lash out in anger at her doing her job, and the making up to a quick proposal seemed rushed. Other than that though, I found the story hard to put down. Just wish the ending would have been a little more detailed. Highly recommend this story and author.
Definitely one of my favorite series!! These books can be read as standalone but you won't get all the good stuff on all the characters lol this is definitely becoming one of my favorite series ever!! This is Ben and Lily story, Ben was brought in like the other guys to help coach the football team side note this really isn't about football at all they are all ex military brought in to coach and the football hasn't even started yet! So it's not really a sports theme book! But what if is, is a thrilling ride! It start out right Away with all kinds of action happening!! It has my heart pumping right from the start!! Lily is a cop and she definitely doesn't really enjoy it but she has to finish this case! The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was that catching the bad guy has been built up and it was definitely anticlimactic! I thought it might even go on till the next book?! But anyway it was still such a great book!! I highly highly recommend this book and series! It's become one of my top favorite! Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me! And thank you Elizabeth Spaur for your wonderful words! Can't wait for more!!
