A wonderful bedtime story that is fun for any time. A little girl has trouble falling asleep, and her mother’s encouragement to picture various scenes seems to lead to more requests rather than settle her mind. This fun journey in the mind may stir up little ones’ imaginations—just think of a story and sleep will soon come—but if not, they won’t be bored. The lovely illustrations add to the enjoyment of the picture book. I received a copy from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

I like Julia Rawlinson's stories, they are so gentle and sweet. This one will be familiar to lots of children and their parents. Age old problem of how to get the littles off to sleep at bedtime without the parent falling asleep before the child. Sweet tale. Nicole Wong's art work is breathtaking!

When you have Minions there is no such thing as too many bedtime stories, or really even too many books. There's very little variation you can accomplish with 'go to sleep' type stories. When they say there is nothing new under the sun it's basically true. But then again, you don't need to reinvent the wheel completely. Like my over use of metaphors there? I did :D The thing is, a well done story is a well done story, no matter the backdrop. Julia Rawlinson brings a sweet story for Minions about bedtime and not being ready to fall asleep. It's perfectly accompanied with engaging illustrations by Nicole Wong.

Rawlinson weaves a story of a young girl who isn't quite ready to go to sleep. Her mom weaves relaxing adventures of birds (too swoopy) and penguins (too cold) and camels (too hot) before settling into the ocean away from the pirates and serene with the whales. Only mom falls asleep first. Molly drifts off herself to the soft breathing of her mother and the comfort of her animal friends. I really did enjoy this engaging story and I think your Minions will as well. The pictures were so engaging as well. They were filled with depth and a level of detail that was almost like a photograph. Sometimes, you don't need to reinvent the wheel you just have to spin it a different direction. This sweet bedtime story did that for me and I think it would be a great addition to any Minion's library.

“I can’t sleep!” said Molly.
“Yes you can,” said her Mom.
“Just think of a story and sleep will come soon…”

When Molly can’t fall asleep her Mom has the perfect remedy, a soothing bedtime story. Mom dreams up a variety of sleep-inducing scenarios, but Molly manages to find something exciting and energizing in each one. Eventually, Mom’s stories work, just not in the way she expects…

I give this book a rating of 5 stars and highly recommend it. I read this book to my 4 year old daughter who really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the story and wonderful pictures. It was quite calming and relaxing. Perfect bedtime story.

It is hard to make variations on the going to bed books that are out there.

This is a pleasant enough read, about a little girl trying to go to sleep as her mother tells her of allt he far away places she could fall asleep.

In the end, it is the mother who falls asleep as well.

Little Molly is not able to sleep. Her mom comes up with an idea to help her.
What Iliked about the book is, instead of "Let me tell you a story", her mother encourages her to use her own imagination and create her own story.
She gives her characters she can play and imagine and eventually fall asleep.
But every time Molly finds it unsuitable, no problem though her mom has more characters.
This book is definitely sweet and cute. It encourages the kid to run their own imaginations and build their own stories.
In a way, kids could remember what they've learned so far and use them in a story.
A very enjoyable and must read!

In this picture book, bedtime story, a little girl cannot fall asleep. Her mom suggests that she think of some stories and that she will then drift off. Mom goes on to tell several stories (in prose that rhymes at times), none of which is quite right. You can guess who falls asleep first! The illustrations are soft and sweet; all in all a charming bedtime book.

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher.

Such a sweet book for bedtime reading! A little girl has trouble falling asleep and her mother helps her by having her pretend to be different animals. Finally, it works, but not the way you may think! Also, beautiful illustrations!

This book had bright colorful pictures and great rhyming text. It's about a little girl who can't sleep and her mom encourages her to pretend to be different things to drift to sleep. It's a great bedtime story and great for kids with a good imagination.

Molly can't sleep so her mom tries to help her out by having them pretend she's different animals. Molly finds a flaw with each animal her mom chooses. The trick finally works in the end but not on the person you'd expect.
This book is sweet, whimsical, and imaginative. It reminds me of the tricks my own parents used to try and get me to fall asleep on those nights where I was wide awake. This is the perfect book to turn to when all those other tricks are no longer working. The illustrations are cute, the rhyming scheme makes it better, and the story is nice and simple. It's a book that can easily be repeated time and time again.
