This book was hands down one of the best suspense mysteries I have ever read!
The story twelfth was mesmerizing, the characters women you could empathize and relate to and the writing brilliant. I don't usually gush about books I have read, but this one is such a winner I can't help myself. Do NOT miss reading this novel. A real treat and I can't wait to order any other books this author has written. I'm totally hooked
A psychological thriller with a realistic premise. This story could have walked out of the news in today's world. It's an interesting plot with mysterious characters. I enjoyed the book.
I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review
This book was ok. It had some suspense but the characters really lost the plot and the end made no sense after the first 90% if the book
Three women, one murder, , and a million reasons why each could’ve murdered their therapist. Ellie Monago shares the thoughts of the three women via alternating POV, and as the story continues, the whodunnit becomes harder to guess, as the good doctor provides each with a very viable reason to murder.
The pacing is well done, and the characterization is competent, but the ending felt a bit weak & vague. Overall, a good beach read type of novel - nothing especially memorable, but Confidential is entertaining enough.
I really enjoyed Monago's NEIGHBORLY so i gave CONFIDENTIAL a try. Unfortunately, I just really didn't enjoy this one. The women portrayed in the book were interesting, but the situation was so over-the-top that I could not suspend my disbelief. And some of the dialogue really made me cringe.
You have a therapist who gets clients and somewhere down the line he crosses the line with three women. When he's found dead in his office and the police are called in to investigate, the lead detective thinks "Lucinda's a disaster; Flora's a manipulator; Greer's a liar," but that does not answer the question "who killed Dr. Michael Baylor?"
This story felt like a phase for me. There were some parts that were great, it started out well, I was intrigued by the pace. Somewhere in the middle, I struggled to keep reading but this is exactly where Dr. Baylor was unraveling and I hated that I had to be patient to read through that part. It's an interesting read but I'll add that I was rather disappointed by the ending. Thank you Netgalley for the eARC.
Started out ok but I lost interest about 30% in, I found it to be an unbelievable plot, didn't like the characters and by the time I got near the end I wasn't bothered what happened.
Thank you to Netgalley and Lake Union Publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
A novel that fits right in in this time of the Me Too movement. Therapist Michael Baylor is a well respected, good looking man who appears to have helped many female patients. Now he’s dead and it appears that he may have hidden some very ugly things beneath his charming exterior. Three women have come forward to accuse Baylor of some pretty nasty things, but are they telling the truth? Each one appears to have an excellent motive for murder and the police grill them, even as the public finds reason to disbelieve the stories of all the accusers. Timely, sad and terrifying
This is a great whodunnit psychological thriller that will keep you guessing throughout! Author, Ellie Monago, perfectly pieces together the puzzle of a murdered therapist and three of his female clients whom he exerted much influence over. Fans of A.J. Banner and Gilly MacMillan will love this one!
