While this is a topic that greatly interests me and many of my colleagues, I do not believe we got a comprehensive look at the routes that the Silk Roads took, nor of the perils that awaited those who travelled those routes. Travelling these silk routes took over many centuries of our history. So many men met their deaths, others disappeared and were never again heard of while others travelled and returned home to their family ten or twenty years later. While the maps were interesting as were some of the photographs this book would benefitted form a lot of editing for I feel the information was just put to paper without sufficient research. I give it 2 stars I'm afraid.

A good book, brought some very interesting and intriguing points of history to the read with flowing writing that was engaging and not dry at all!

An incredibly detailed thorough history of the Silk Roads. I have always found this topic quite enjoyable and I appreciated the overall tone of the book, as well as the included maps and images. Well done!
