So... the premise of this book is pretty interesting.... psychometry - but only with clothing. Clare can see visions of people connected with the clothing she touches. This is an ability passed down through the generations in her family, stemming from a tragic event long ago. People fear another tragedy taking place in the very near future and, hey, maybe Clare's ability can help. The plot is a little slow in places, but the whole idea is still pretty interesting.
"Hanging By A Thread" weaves a tale of mystery and romance, centered around Clare, a teenage girl with the unique ability to see the past through the touch of clothing. Despite the intriguing premise, the story falls short in character development and pacing. While Clare's determination and creativity shine, other characters lack depth, leaving readers disconnected. The romance feels rushed, detracting from the suspenseful plot. However, the paranormal element adds an interesting twist, offering a fresh take on the YA genre. Overall, "Hanging By A Thread" delivers an engaging plot with room for improvement in characterization.
While the prospect of a girl who could "see" things when she touched articles of clothing was intriguing I found this to be a very middle of the road YA novel. However I didn't see the end coming so that was good. Many girls will love this book and I won't have trouble finding people to recommend it to.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read and review this book.
