This is a great book!! Let’s you know exactly who God is! You have to read to understand what he’s talking about when he says “Scary God” , but mostly it’s meaning he’s all powerful, and ALMIGHTY, and many other ways you haven’t thought of God being. But open up your spirit and soul and find out. Astonishing book!! ..I would recommend to all.....Thank you to #NetGalley and the publishers of #ScaryGod for opportunity to read and review in my honest opinion.

Mattie begins his story by telling us about his experiences with a bully who constantly harassed him until his Dad confronted the bully who stopped confronting him. He compared his father to God, and he stated that God does not like to see His children bullied, and that He is stronger, faster and smarter than any bully. He mentions that believers are captivated by the fear of man, abandonment and vulnerability, and that these fears have stolen our inheritance as believers.
Then Mattie speaks of an experience of God that burned the holy fear of God into his soul when he was in a trailer/prayer room while a woman was seeking, crying out to and praising God.
Mattie also tells us about how we are to love and respect God and treat Him with reverence, not in a casual manner, but in awe as Moses did. Moses had a close relationship with God because his heart was right with God, he left his life as a shepherd and he went back to Egypt, the place where God was moving. As believers, we too need to go where we see God moving, people are on fire for God, and we need to find some “holy ground” and get close to God, too!
You will have to read the book for yourself to find out how to build a closer, awe-filled relationship with God.

Hearing people say that you need to fear God is pretty common, but there are also people that say fear has no place in following God. God can be scary, but not in the way horror movies portray fear. God is to be feared out of knowledge of what He can do, has done, and will do.

In Scary God, Mattie Montgomery relates through his experiences what he has learned about truly fearing God. This is not a fear that causes you to cower and be afraid to move, but a fear that drives you into action. Christians should be out sharing the gospel and ministering in a way that will help others understand the consequences of rejecting Jesus.

This fear also applies in our approach to God. Many Christians quote the verses about being bold and courageous when coming into God's presence, but we need to remember that He is holy, and talking to Him is not to be taken lightly.

Scary God is well written and easy to read, but it may not be as easy to take for everyone. We like to build a protective safe are in our lives so that we don't get hurt or hurt others. This book calls you out of that zone so that you can follow wherever God leads you. There are several things that I have gotten used to being the way they are, and now I will have to reconsider them because of what I read in the book.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
