2nd in the series. This one has Sylvie and Alex, both raising young children by themselves, and of course the school brings them together. Liked this one overall, although must admit to liking the first one more. A lot of side angst that at times slowed me down, so started to skim a bit. Otherwise, would recommend.

This is the second book in the Cornish Village School series, set in Penmenna and revisiting some of the familiar characters as well as introducing new arrivals, ex-ballerina single mum Sylvie and her son Sam and journalist Alex and his adoptive daughter Ellie who are all instantly attracted to each other. Another heartwarming easy read by Kitty Wilson

This was such a charming romance. It’s the second book in a series, but can be read as a standalone. I loved all of the characters and really enjoyed the dialogue between Sam and Elle’s characters. It was written so well and had me giggling!

If you’re looking for a feel good romance, I’d definitely recommend this one!

I enjoyed the book so much, just as the first one. It was nice and easy read but not boring one for sure. It had a lot of things that I like in the romance books and that are probably familiar to everyone who follows my blog. I love Kitty’s writing and I can’t wait to read more from her. I am already excited about book 3 of the series even tho I have no idea when it will be published but I will keep my eye open. If you haven’t read the first book, I would recommend doing so. It is winter time; curl up under the blanket with a cup of tea and enjoy the books.

A delightfully light-hearted read to warm your heart and take you to some brilliant scenery. Kitty Wilson writes with perfection!

Despite this being what I'd dub an easy read, this just missed the mark for me. It was incredibly predictable and pathetically farfectched in places, even for a fictional novel. Not my cup of tea at all.

You know something, you all know already that this is going to be a bit of a rave-I adored book one (review here) of this series, and chances were pretty slim that I wasn't once more going to get all excited by the fact that I now have a new steadfast addition to my 'must read' romance authors (yay!).

Anyhoo, on to the story, wherein we are once again back in Penmenna, not with Rosy Winters (although she has a big part in the book -yessss!!!!). No, this is the story of Alex, an ex foreign correspondent (done expertly, I loved hearing of his time abroad and equally was horrified at both his and Ellie's story), who is just one of the most swoon worthy, lovely characters out there. Add to this the red haired force of nature that is Sylvie, the one time dancer turned dance teacher and totally dedicated mum to the very cute Sam, and you have nicely subtle but always beautiful fireworks mixed in with nod-along banter and smile all the time fun (I know, I'll stop soon, I promise!)  

There was an overall great mix of Ms. Wilson's charming settings and swoonerific romance, nicely dotted with heartbreaking drama and absolutely tragic circumstances that were lightened by lovely kiddie moments and great characters that you felt for one minute and wanted to throttle the next. (Exhales, totally spent with lovely charming gushing!;))

Sylvie is a single mum to shy five year old Sam and at the start of the book the two of them are setting of for the beach where they meet Alex and his daughter Ellie. Sam and Ellie hit it off immediately and there is definitely chemistry between Sylvie and Alex...... but Alex is not intending to stay around indefinitely...... so can they overcome their issues and make the happy family that their children want?

Great to be back in the village school and catch up with the characters from the first book and the second one was just as good. I really liked the two main characters Sylvie and Alex and was really rooting for their happy ending....... and any book with a Cornish setting gets my vote!

So I didn’t actually realize that this is the second book in ‘The Cornish Village School’ but I can safely say that it does read well as a standalone book. Also on a somewhat related note, I now do really want to read the first book in the series!

We start of the book by being introduced to Sylvie and her son Sam as they are heading off for their afternoon visit to the beach, I really loved the pure excitement from both of these characters as they initially set off for the beach, it’s where they meet both Alex and Ellie and begin an almost instant friendship. (Living pretty close to the beach I can safely say I do not take advantage of visiting as much as I really should and after reading the first few chapters of this book I really wanted to get out and visit!)

This was a great character-focused book with a lot of different relationships coming in to play, there was quite a focus on the children as well as the friends and family of Sylvie and Alex which made it just that little bit more than a simple romance book. There were a few ‘secrets’ in the background but mostly I really enjoyed it being a straightforward romance book. I think perhaps there could have been a bit more focus on some of the place descriptions but it doesn’t take away from the story at all. For me, it was a great sweet little read that had me smiling all the way through.

This book was an absolute delight to read!!

I loved everything about this book – the characters are excellent, very well developed and I warmed to them straight away. This is the second book in the Cornish Village School series but I felt it was fine to read as a stand alone, but the first book is also very lovely if you get a chance to read that one too!

The plot was excellent, the author really captivated my imagination – I loved the story right from the start and was hooked in just a few pages, I had been looking forward to reading this one for a while and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

The cover for the book is beautiful and works so well with the story.

Five stars from me, I loved it – very highly recommended!!

It was lovely to be back in Penmarra and the Cornish Village school. If you have read the first book then the setting and teachers will be familiar to you.

If you haven't, fear not, this easily reads as a standalone with two new families and main characters.

I really enjoyed getting to know Sylvie and Alex, and their two kids Sam and Ellie. Sam and Ellie are the real stars of this book, and I loved their very different personalities.

I also enjoyed seeing how Sylvie grew in confidence as the book progresses, as she tries to get new job and new house.

Its an enjoyable sequel, and good to catch up with old friends to see how they were getting on. I hope there will be more to this series as I suspect it will get better book by book!

I read this as a standalone book, although it's the second in a series. I may well read the first now, but didn't need to to find this book, easy to read, enjoyable and well written. A good beach read, nothing taxing, just good chick lit.

The Cornish Village School - Second Chances is a heart-warming tale about the creation of a family. Family doesn't always come in the same format and, for Sylvie and Alex, they find themselves and their children becoming a family despite the fact that they are not in a romantic relationship. Is it possible for them to make that leap without ruining everything? Do they even want to change something that already seems pretty perfect? From an eclectic cast of characters to the charming village setting, the book is feel-good, warm, funny, endearing and thoroughly entertaining!

Funny, quirky read. Loved it.

You have NO idea how relevant those fireworks are on the cover! Holy schmoly!!! If you're after a novel which allows you to ignite a very well hidden passion, helps you realise that just because your heart has been broken once it doesn't mean that it is guaranteed to happen again, AND makes you laugh out loud due to the sheer brilliance of the under 18's in the book, then if I could I would shove this book right under your nose and go 'THERE!'.

I'm sometimes weary about books which have a single mum as their main character because, more often than not, us single mums aren't really portrayed in a positive light. Don't get me wrong, there are clearly some out there who like their negative light and would do anything to keep it that way, but for those of us who like to think we aren't doing so bad, books which show us negatively knock our confidence. Thankfully, Kitty Wilson didn't do that at all and yes, I did breathe a gigantic sigh of relief!

Sylvie is a very hands on mum to her little boy, Sam. With 'big school' just around the corner, Sylvie does all she can to prepare her son for independence in a school environment when in fact, poor Sylvie is the one who needs to prepare as it doesn't seem to sink in what Sam going to 'big school' actually means. Sylvie and Sam are used to life just them....until Alex comes to town. For such a shy boy, Sam hits it off with Alex's daughter almost instantly, making Sylvie realise that her little dude is spreading his little wings!

Ohhhhhhhhhh, Alex's daughter, Ellie, is a LEGEND! Omg, the things that came out of her mouth were absolutely brilliant! 'Out the mouths of babes' came to mind on more than one occasion! Honestly, I'm not even exaggerating! Ellie has such a powerful personality which puts a lot of adults to shame actually, and not because she isn't afraid to speak her mind. Well, the mind that she does have considering she is around the age of five! In actual fact, Ellie reminded me a lot of my little girl who is exactly the same age. It's just the innocence which makes the things they shouldn't say, end up seeming a lot funnier because they don't fully understand what they're spraffing. Anyway, I won't ruin it for you, but definitely watch out for little miss firework!

I LOVED the first book in the series, 'Breaking the Rules', and 'Second Chances' is a brilliant addition. I was instantly hooked by the energetic yet thoughtful vibe of the storyline, especially as I was able to relate to the main character what with being a single mum myself. I thought that Kitty Wilson delivered her characters flaws in such a tender and relatable manner, and I felt that it actually added incredible depth to each individual character as well as the overall storyline.

I had everything crossed for Sylvie as I just wanted her to get the 'happily ever after' she deserved, so I am sure you can understand my frustration when the storyline did a bit of to-ing and fro-ing! Again, I won't ruin it for anyone but this isn't a case of girl meets boy and they live happily ever after. Not at all. 'Second Chances' is a book which may be fiction, yet is incredibly close to reality due to the actions and emotions of the characters. Life isn't straightforward and I am so pleased that Kitty Wilson got that across in her story without making it as depressing as real life can actually be.

I thoroughly enjoyed 'Second Chances' and I believe that you will too - this book had me in absolute stitches one minute, with my heart soaring and having a mind of its own the next. A relatable, thought-provoking read which has characters anyone will fall in love with. Yes, even the not so great characters you'll no doubt end up loving - Kitty Wilson just has that knack, and what a knack it is. I loved it!

I just loved this page-turner of a book. The characters are fabulous and there’s so much humour. Rosy is a really sweet character, she loves the school and she’s so wonderful as head teacher. Marion, head of the PTA, is a formidable person, and Rosy has to keep her in check. Matt is lovely, and knows he has to be cautious with Rosy, who has some issues from her past, but he’s very careful.

With some misunderstandings, wrong moments, and bad timings, will Matt and Rosy ever get together? And what about the school? Will they be able to save it? It’s a book to devour as you wait to find out. Uplifting and funny, a great read.

5☆ Enchanting, Funny, Warm and Cosy Romcom

The Cornish Village School - Second Chances is the second book in the series, but my first book.
It can be read as a standalone perfectly fine.

First of all I want to start by saying how gorgeous and eye catching the cover for this Charming feel good read is.

I simply adored this enchanting warm and delightful story of New Beginnings, friendship, love, romance, family, and teaching.
It had plenty of laugh out loud moments, drama, mishaps, mayhem, emotional moments, and a good sparkle of Romance. What more could You want!

Single Parent Sylvie and her son Sam meet the devilishly handsome Alex (also single) and his daughter Ellie on the beach.
The two children simply hit it off straight away. Sylvie and Alex.... Wow the chemistry between them fizzed with excitement.
But Alex tells Sylvie he is on on a short visit and won't be sticking around!... or Will he?

It's Sam's first day at school and he is now in reception class.
But Who happens to turn up on the same day.... Yeap you guessed it.... Alex and Ellie. Sam is over the moon and soon forgets his mum has even left him.

There is sooo much I want to say about this adorable book but I'm afraid of giving anything away. But if you read the blurb it will give you enough intriguing info.

I loved Sylive and Sam's Characters.
Sylvie is vulnerable after losing her Mum. Living on her Uncles farm isn't really helping. Sam is a shy little boy with a huge heart. The two of them together simply melted my heart.

I also loved Alex & Ellie. Alex too has a slight vulnerable side.
He is very handsome, strong and certainly has a soft spot for Sylvie. (Swoon)
For me, my favourite character is Ellie.
She had me laughing out loud. A lil madam, cheeky but incredibly cute with it and her bond with Sam is So cute!!

In fact I adored each and every single character. They was all beautifully written and I warmed to them all pretty much straight away.

I want to say a big thank you to Kitty for capturing Sam and Ellie's dialogue. It literally is SPOT ON!! And had me in fits of laughter.
I am a qualified nursery nurse and can so relate to the many mishaps and mayhem that happened at Penmenna School.

The pace was was fluid and captivating.
The writing style was engaging, entertaining and witty
A heart Warming and Cosy little Tale, that was romantic, funny and feel-good.
It was an absolute joy to read!
So Get ready to fall in love with the Cornish Village School and it's endearing and loveable characters.

Wow I loved this book for some love, romance, fighting feelings and a family story as well. Well written and enrapturing throughout this is very enjoyable

We all know books like this are my faves, and despite having not read the first book i knew straight away this would be something i would enjoy, and despite writing the wrong date down for blog tour and forgetting like the brilliant blogger i am however i had read the book and was allready to go - its better late than never.



Ex Ballerina Sylvie is focusing all her energy on getting her son Sam ready for his first day at school, espeically after a summer of just them spending time together, with the worry of that and the hope of moving out the family farm - her life is a hectic one. When on an end of summer trip to the beach Sam makes a new friend Ellie - it really isnt only Sam making friends. Sylvie is too with Alex, who is just down for the summer.



When a change of circumstances sees him and Ellie sticking around true friendships are formed, even if its just to come together against the PTA. As the fireworks go off, so does the relationship between them, however Sylvie has been very clear - she isnt seeking more than the friendship, the friendship she values so deeply not just for her - but for Sam too.



With new job prospects, home changes and new friendships been formed - The Cornish Village School Second Chances really is a wonderful read, with enough drama in it that keeps the pace moving along, with characters that you want to spend time with, and realtionships that warm your heart this was exactly what i was seeking, a feel good read.
