One story about redemption and honor. Sometimes life takes a turn and both characters find themselves in this situation.

This is NOT the usual Amish fiction. This book was well written, but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe it was because I didn't realize it was book 5 of a series. If you've read the other books you might love it. Don't let my review stop you from giving it a try. Thank you Kensington Books via NetGalley for the copy of this book. 5 stars: 5/5 stars

I am one of Kelly Long's biggest fans and I love the Ice Mountain series. I have read all of the series (this is book #5) and feel that it is helpful to read the entire series but I do think that this book could be understood as a stand-alone novel. While an Amish book, Kelly does add some "spice and pizzazz" to the story. The characters are believable and likable. They also show that the Amish are not perfect and have their troubles and past issues, as well as Englischers do.

I highly recommend this book to readers.

An Amish Match on Ice Mountain is my first read by Kelly Long. Although, this is a series I read this book as a stand alone. The only thing I missed is wanting to go back and read the entire series! Undesirable circumstances brought Ella and Stephen into each others paths. They each bring their own baggage and heartbreak to the story.
Forgiveness, love and compassion for others makes this a wonderful read.

Good, multi-layered story of love, faith, and overcoming the past. Stephen left his home on Ice Mountain after he was accused of murder and shunned. Even though he was proved innocent, he no longer felt at home there. Instead, he moved to an Englisch town and worked as a firefighter. His life took a dramatic change when he rescued a young woman from a burning building. Ella was pregnant, abandoned by the father of her baby, and in danger from a greedy aunt and uncle.

I really liked Stephen and Ella. He is kind, honorable, and protective. He is well-liked by his fellow firefighters and has a strong friendship with his doctor roommate. Though he no longer lived in the Amish community, his faith was still strong and guided his behavior. Ella is sweet, determined, and feisty. She was determined to give her baby the best life possible, even under the most difficult of circumstances.

Stephen and Ella met when he saved her from a burning building. There was a connection between them from the very start, both physical and emotional. Stephen was drawn to Ella in a way that he'd never experienced before. He wanted to take care of her and her baby, at the same time he found it almost impossible to keep his hands off of her. Stephen's kindness to her is something that Ella hasn't felt in a very long time. She's attracted to him but doesn't feel she deserves the compassion of such a good man. I loved the protectiveness Stephen experienced when she went back to her old job, and the actions he took to show it. When they found out that the fire was deliberately set in an attempt to kill Ella, Stephen was determined to save her, even if that meant returning to Ice Mountain.

I liked the development of the relationship between Stephen and Ella. Stephen fell fast and hard for Ella and wanted nothing more than to make her part of his life forever. I loved how he already thought of her baby as his own. Ella felt the same about him but worried that their differing lives would make it impossible. I loved how easily she fit into the community and the hope that it gave her for the future. There were many sweet scenes between them as they got to know each other. I especially loved the way Ella took care of Stephen after the bear attack. There were also some fun scenes of his friends giving him a hard time over his feelings for her. Both were a little wary of expressing their feelings, but when a crisis threatened their lives, they realized that life was too short not to take the risk.

There was an element of mystery/suspense that ran through the book. We found out early on that Ella's life was in danger. There were several twists and turns that kept me guessing as to what would happen. I was intrigued by the first man sent to kill her. His actions were not what I expected, and I found my opinion of him changing rapidly. He redeemed himself quite nicely by the end of the book. The second killer was creepy and evil, made even worse by the connection he already shared with Ella. The final confrontation was intense and had me on the edge of my seat until it was over.

Part of the story dealt with Stephen and his relationship with his mother and aunt. After meeting them, I completely understood the strain he'd been under as a kid and teenager. I thought it said a lot about his need to protect Ella that he even considered going back to that toxic atmosphere. It was interesting to see how the time away, plus his feelings for Ella, helped Stephen move past the resentment toward forgiveness. I also liked seeing the changes that Stephen's mother went through and how she faced up to her mistakes. There was a neat little twist involving her at the end of the book.

Ella Nichols works as a cleaning lady in a brothel. She is young, beautiful and five months pregnant. Her aunt and uncle are trying to have her killed. Beautifully written inspirational romance. I enjoyed the plot, characters and the author's writing.

This just wasn’t the type of Amish fiction that I’m used to readingand I had a hard time connecting with the characters in this story. I’m used to reading more “faith based” Amish fiction and this didn’t fit that category. This is not the author’s fault, as I was not her intended audience. I should have looked at this book more carefully before I downloaded it. I’m sure there are others who will like this story, but it just wasn’t for me.

Ella Nichols works as a cleaning lady in a brothel. She is young, beautiful and five months pregnant. Her aunt and uncle are trying to have her killed. The first attempt is setting her boarding house on fire while she is there. Firemen rush to the scene and a young fireman, Stephen Lambert, climbs a ladder in a risky rescue to save Ella. Stephen was born in the Amish community of Ice Mountain. After being shunned because of a murder charge, Stephen has left the Amish and vows to never return. He is drawn to Ella and her situation and helps her to run away to a safe place to save her life.

The Ice Mountain story continues in this latest book. Stephen's story is highlighted in this story as he rescues a pregnant 'English' woman, Ella from a burning building then returns to the mountain with her. Instant attraction for both will become most of the story while Stephen tries to protect Ella from an assassin. As always in this series, adult themes are more prevalent than in the usual Amish fiction books.

Kelly Long tells a wonderful story of romance between an Englisch and Amish character. From their initial attraction to their full blown love story, you are pulled into their suspenseful lives which has you on edge with its twists and turns. This is an adult love story with adult situations yet presented carefully for readers to enjoy. Faith plays a very strong role in the novel.

This is another great book in the Amish Ice Mountain series by Kelly Long.

I loved the characters of Ella and Stephen and how their circumstances brought them together and how the story flows and ends.

Each person is recovering from deep hurts in their lives and we find them enduring and overcoming difficult circumstances, which brings them together. Mystery, forgiveness, and love lend to a great read that I would highly recommend to those who enjoy reading Amish romances.

This was a great story. I loved Ella and her fight to keep her unborn baby safe even when she felt like giving up. Ella gave up a lot and is facing a lot of difficult situations. Stephen is a hard working young man that has some hurts in his past. His character is compassionate and always wanting to fight for the underdog. I enjoyed watching this couple together. They had several things going against them, yet they were able to overcome together. The mystery in the story added to the plot and kept the book moving. The chemistry between Stephen and Ella was strong. This book was a little steamier than usual for most Amish books. I feel like the author captured the characters well and portrayed them in a realistic way. This book is part of a series of books. I was glad that I have read the other books in the series to get a better overall picture of the characters. Overall a great book that I would recommend to those that like romance and trying to find a way in difficult situations.

3.5
This story was very layered, so many side plots. They all came together very nicely. I love stories about the Amish. I find them fascinating the way they come together and support each other. This story shows that there isn’t always peace among their ranks.

Ella and Stephen’s story builds very slowly, naturally, which seemed appropriate between the time period and the religious nature of the story. Both characters had ghosts they were running from. There were some twists, drama, sadness and coming to light moments for some characters you would least expect it from. The conclusion was very sweet. A very nice story, recommend.
