This book is about Rose trying to fit into Seaside with the help of the Seaside Knitting Club. She accepts an apartment above the knitting shop and gets a job in real estate. Eventually, a murder occurs and she is the most likely suspect since she was the last person known to be with him.

I wanted to like this book but was at a loss in reading it. Since it is the 13th book in this series, I would highly recommend starting at the beginning or at least earlier in the series. I disliked the several POVs. It also took too long in the book for the murder to take place. Then, not much investigation. A good cozy starts with the murder and goes from there. The theme of this book is lost by changing that standard.

This is a good book for fans of Sally Goldenbaum who have invested in the series. Others may want to begin earlier in the series.

I received an eBook ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects my opinion or ratings of this book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publlisher for the chance to read this book.

Normally I love a good cozy mystery, but at the heart of this book it really didn't feel like a traditional cozy to me, because there is very little investigating. There is plenty of the things I enjoy about cozies; food, friendship, a themed book. I just felt like the murder took far too long to occur (40% or more in) and then there wasn't a rush of clues, more like a book of whimsy. It's hard to describe the writing, but whimsy is the word I choose because this book reminds me of a dream. Kind of soft and flowing but not particularly engaging?

Maybe it is being the 13th in a series; however I believe with cozy mystery you should fall right in and I didn't. I really wanted to enjoy this one but in the end I feel drained and not satisfied with the ending at all. Three stars.

This is the 13th book in this beloved cozy series. I was thrilled to receive this book for review as I have read all of the series and highly recommend the entire series set in The Seaside Knitting Studio. I am a fan of knitting series and enjoy the friendships throughout this series as well as the knitting information. This is a wonderfully structured mystery with multiple complex story lines that was enjoyable to read to conclusion .
The very current and sensitive issue of bullying is addressed in this book.

A young woman, Rose, enters the Seaside Knitting Studio while a terrible plumbing disaster is flooding the shop. Rose offers to try to fix the problem as she has some experience. After the repair Izzy finds out she needs a place to stay and offers her the apartment above her shop . She try's to befriend her but finds Rose to be private. Rose is hiding the fact that she lived in the area before and is traumatized by a childhood of bullying. She trys to keep to herself but soon finds she is the hot ticket in town to be hired as a handy person. She does not want to stay in town and is planning on leaving.

Rose’s first project is making repairs in a mansion where she runs into her childhood bully and has a terrible accusatory confrontation. When he is murdered Rose is the main suspect and the Seaside Knitters come to her aid as they try to prove her innocence.

I love the women in the knitting group and how they support one another. This is a endearing series that once again proves to be the perfect cozy read. I love the seaside setting, the shop and the small town of kind friendly people. I liked the mystery and multiple story lines in this next in series. I found that the plot was interesting and kept me guessing throughout to the end. Well done to the author !

A lovely cozy to curl up with. Characters were multi-dimensional, the plot was believable, setting is idyllic. I enjoyed following these lovely women through their relationships with each other, the town and their puzzling out events.

How to knit a murder is a story that's told from so many point of views that made me wonder, how I was able to remember half of the characters in it. I know it's book #13 in the series, but I couldn't resist the cover and I just wanted to read it. I didn't like two things about it though. The first thing was the multiple POV's because I kept losing track of them and it took me a while to fully grasp who was who. The second thing is the murder I was promised. The dead person is very much alive for half the book and the mystery was too short. I did like the reveal though, even if it were a little sad. I do not recommend to read this book as stand-alone. These characters have formed relationships over the past books that I feel like the reader needs to see herself. I did enjoy some of the parts of this book and that's why it gets 3.5 stars from me. I read it in one sitting and it was pleasant to read which is the reason why I am rounding the stars to 4 instead of three.

How to Knit a Murder is the thirteenth book in Sally Goldenbaum’s Seaside Knitters Society series. The storyline is well plotted, and the relatable characters are well rounded. The sensitive issue of bullying and the long-lasting effect it can have on a victim and those who love them are addressed in this book. This steadily paced book can be read as a standalone as the author provides great background information for the main characters and explaining their relationships. There are lots of red herrings, and the complexity of the story made this an engaging read with a reveal that surprised me.

A young woman, Rose Woodley Chopra, enters the Seaside Knitting Studio in Sea Harbor, Massachusetts while it’s experiencing a plumbing disaster, with water flooding the shop, and threatening to ruin an expensive delivery of yarn. Izzy rushes into the room requesting someone to find a plumber quickly. Rose admits she’s not a plumber but has fixer-upper experience, and volunteers to fix the problem. After the leak is fixed and Izzy learns where she’s staying, she insists Rose move into the apartment above her shop for the remainder of her visit. Once Realtor Stella Palazola learns about Rose’s skills, she offers a job. Stella and the Seaside Knitters (Izzy Perry, Nell Endicott, Cass Halloran, and Birdie Favazza) are immediately drawn to Rose and take her under their wing. Rose didn’t share the fact that she grew up in Sea Harbor and returned to try to rid herself of the bad memories of her difficult time growing up and being tormented by bullies. Spencer Paxton III, the owner of Paxton Development, has also returned to his hometown and is determined to buy recently deceased Anthony Bianchi’s mansion but his wife, Bree McIntosh Bree, an artist, was perfectly happy in the small cottage they were renting in Canary Cove. Rose’s first project is making repairs in the Bianchi mansion, and while working one evening, Spencer enters the house and accuses her of breaking in. Unable to contain her emotions, she confronts him about the bullying he’d previously subjected her to. Later that evening, a security guard finds Spencer’s body on the third floor of the vacant house in the room where Rose had been working. They know Police Chief Jerry Thompson is competent and thorough, but when Rose becomes the prime suspect in Spencer’s murder, the group of friends decides to work together to help him figure out who committed the murder because they're convinced of her innocence. They quickly discover that between Spencer’s political aspirations to become mayor, his company’s plans to replace Sea Harbor’s historic art district with luxury condos and big box stores, and his treatment of people in general, there’s no shortage in the supply of people he’s turned against him.

I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

This is the thirteenth in the Seaside Knitters Society Mystery series and the first that I have read. I was intrigued by the description and cover art. I have read other knitting cozy mystery series and this one is also just as delightful.
I could relate to the water leak as my HOA is experiencing this.
Seaside Knitting studio owner, Izzy Perry is in search of a plumber when Rose Chopra enters her studio. She isn’t a plumber but professes to be an experienced fixer upper. This begins Rose’s career in Sea Harbor, MA as a handyman.
Rose is offered the apartment above the studio. Rose quickly becomes the prime suspect in a murder at a home she is conducting repairs on. The Seaside Knitters Society becomes involved in clearing Rose.
A well-written story with a strong plot. The characters are diverse and developed.
Bonus: pattern for a cardigan included.
Looking forward to another installment. As time permits, will begin with the first to catch up on the story lines.

I volunteered to read and review an ARC of this book provided by Kensington and NetGalley.

I really enjoyed this book. How to Knit a Murder is thrilling and a constant trickle of clues and hints. Just like peeling the layers of an onion...the mystery unfolded little by little until the answers are revealed and you're left asking yourself why you didn't figure that out sooner.

A newcomer to Sea Harbor seems to be a perfect part of the neighborhood - until she is accused of murdering a local developer. The Seaside Knitters take on the case to find that the victim had plenty of enemies...

How to Knit a Murder by Sally Goldenbaum is the 13th book in the Seaside Knitters Society series, and my second book by this author. I really enjoyed this book, but feel I would have gotten a lot more from if I would have read the whole series. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters, but found myself loosing track of all the characters. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series. You don't have to be a knitter to really enjoy this book. If you love cozy mysteries, I recommend this book, but I would start with book one.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Corrected review

Excellent addition to a wonderful series.

I've enjoyed Sally Goldenbaum's cozy mystery series since the very first book, but this newest addition can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed the twist and turns and loved the relationships between Izzy and her friends. I like that there is a list of the characters in the front of the book.
I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley.

This is the first book I read in this series and it was an amazing discovery.
It's a cozy mystery but also a book about tragedies and people being hurt by stupidity and arrogance.
I loved the plot, the cast of characters, Rose above all.
The mystery was good, it kept me guessing till the end and the solution was a surprise.
I look forward to reading other instalment in this series.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to Kensington Books and Netgalley for this ARC

I love these Seaside Knitters mysteries. The members of the knitting group are each unique and interesting characters. Each novel adds more information about them and this seaside town, as we watch the characters grow and change. For example, the character of Stella used to wait tables in her mother's restaurant as a teenager. Now she's an adult, and a realtor. The mystery story line always holds my interest, but there's also a secondary theme--this one is about bullying.

The knitting details always are interesting to me, as well. In this book, however, knitting doesn't seem to be mentioned all that much--it's more about using fiber arts. But that was OK, as long as it's a one-time deal. I also like that each book has a knitting pattern at the end!

While it's always ideal to read books in a series in the order they were published, enough information is included in each book to allow a novice reader to step in at any point in the series and understand the story line. So, if you've not yet tried this series, read this one!

How To Knit A Murder is the thirteenth book in the A Seaside Knitters Society Mystery series.

I always enjoy visiting Sea Harbor and visit with Izzy Perry and her fellow knitters and friends.

Rose Chopra has returned to Sea Harbor to hopefully rid her mind of the terrible experiences she had growing up in Sea Harbor. As she is entering Seaside Knitting studio owner, Izzy Perry, is asking her assistant, Mae, for help locating a plumber as there is a pipe leaking in the storeroom. Rose quickly replied that she wasn’t a plumber, but experience as a fixer-upper and would be happy to try to repair the leak. Once the leak was repaired and Izzy learns where Rose is staying she offers her the apartment above her studio. Then, Stella Palazola, who works at he uncles real estate office next door to Izzy’s, hires her to do minor repairs to houses that they have on the market.

Spencer Paxton III meanwhile has his mind set on acquiring the home of deceased Anthony Bianchi. Paxton has a reputation of being bully since his high school days and will do whatever it takes to acquire the Bianchi property. Rose has been given the job to make repairs to the property to ready it for the market. One morning Paxton is found dead on the third floor of the house. Since Rose had been working in the room that Paxton’s body was found and becomes the prime suspect. Even though Rose doesn’t want to share much about her past, Izzy and her friends from the studio don’t believe she killed Paxton and set off to find the killer and clear Rose’s name. It soon becomes apparent that are several other suspects for the Seaside Knitters Society.

This a well-written and plotted story with a very interesting cast of characters. I would love to live in Sea Harbor and visit with them on a daily basis.

A pattern for a Slouchy Cardigan is also included with the book.

I will definitely be watching for the next book in this enjoyable series.

As a knitter, I enjoyed this mystery. It had a lot of characters, but their connections were listed at the front of the book. A young woman, Rose, comes back to the town in which she grew up. She had a difficult time and was bullied as a child, but she quickly found the knitters group and made new friends. She got a best friend and an employer in Stella, who ran a real estate company for her uncle. Other newcomers to town were Bree McIntosh and her husband Spencer Paxton. Spencer grew up in town in a rich family and he was big man on campus in high school, and was the person who bullied Rose. Bree, his beautiful wife was active with the arts guild and knitters, and didn't seem to spend much time with Spencer. When Spencer wanted to buy a huge house, Bree was not very interested to do so. Meanwhile, Rose was doing some work at the house before it was officially on the market. One evening as she was rushing to finish her work, Spencer arrived and accused her of breaking into his house. Rose told him off and then escaped. However, he is later found beaten to death.

There were lots of people who didn't like Spencer, from Rose, to Bree, to the town's mayor (Spencer was going to run against her and was spreading rumors about her). The knitting group was working hard to show that most of these suspects were totally innocent. They visit the school principal about the school kids in the past and search through old yearbooks. I had a small problem keeping track of all the characters, but the main characters were well developed, the suspects believable, and I didn't know until very close to the end who was the real culprit (especially since no one really liked the man who was killed).

Rose was bullied in high school and she's bravely come back to Sea Harbor to banish the demons. Unfortunately, one of her worst tormenters, Spencer, is also back in town. When he's found dead, she's high on the suspect list but, given how rotten he's always been, there's a list of other people who could have killed him. Luckily for Rose, she's made friends with Izzy Perry and her knitters group and, well, in classic cozy fashion, they solve the crime. I read this as a standalone and was fine with it, although I was periodically challenged with keeping the characters straight (I suspected there was more behind various things.). Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'll look for this series again.

This book is the kinder, gentler version of a cozy mystery. It's much more than a murder, it's about the people, relationships and their stories. This is about a group of women who meet regularly to talk about their lives, the people around them and the events going on in their town. The mystery is solved by group effort and caring. A nice take on cozy. #HowToKnitAmurder #NetGalley
