This series has held my attention from the first book. The characters and the town are described very well. The fact that they talk about knitting makes it a bonus. There are several books in this series and act one is better than the last. I love this author.

Once again I loved revisiting the seaside knitters and the mysteries they solve.. this one was no different except I really didn’t see the ending and who was the killer..

When Rose Chopra returns to her childhood hometown, she’s there to set herself free. But when the bully from those days turns up dead, Rose has some explaining to do. While not the only one who may have wanted him dead, she was the last one to see him alive.

Her new friends, many members of the Seaside Knitters Society, don’t believe Rose, or a few other suspects, are truly capable of murder and put on their detecting hats. With the victim not having been well liked by many and having been a bully all of his life, there are quite a few suspects and no evidence.

The ending was a bit of a surprise and you were kept guessing up to the reveal. While the mystery itself was well laid out, I found the writing to be a little drawn out and slow and the story jumped all over the place with so many characters and different meetings. It’s a solid read, but I found myself tracking how much more was left to read to finish the book. Usually I get so immersed I don’t want the book to end so quickly.

How to Knit a Nurder is a very good mystery. Loved the plot and quirky cast of characters. I recommend to readers who enjoy mysteries. I received an arc from Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.

Once again Sally Goldenbaum updates readers on the Seaside Knitters and their lives in Sea Harbor beginning with a plumbing disaster flooding the Seaside Knitting Studio. As luck would have it, Rose Chopra just enters the shop when store owner Izzy comes rushing down to ask Mae for help getting a plumber. Experienced as a fixer-upper, Rose volunteers to help and proceeds to stop the leak.

Rose grew up in Sea Harbor, but this is her first day back since high school and the town is very different from when she lived here before. After repairing the leak Rose accepts Izzy’s invitation to stay in the apartment above the shop for as long as she’s in town. While having lunch with Izzy and Birdie, Realtor Stella Palazola joins them for a short visit and ends up offering Rose a job fixing up houses she is going to list for sale or rent.

One of the first projects Rose works on is a huge home whose deceased owner, Anthony, insisted the listing be handled by his friend Mario, Stella’s uncle, in his will. A very anxious buyer, Spencer Paxton III, also grew up in Sea Harbor and had an altercation with Rose in high school. So, when Spencer is found dead on the third floor of the vacant house in the room where Rose had been working she becomes a suspect. Fortunately for Rose, Spencer is quite unpopular so there are several “persons of interest” available for the police to investigate.

In creating Rose, Ms. Goldenbaum draws a very sensitive portrait of a young woman challenged by bullies as young girl and who has persevered to overcome those early circumstances. The author skillfully weaves Rose’s experiences and feelings into the fabric of the story making it more meaningful without distracting from the cozy mystery milieu.

How to Knit a Murder is an excellently plotted mystery with red herrings, distractions and friendly, relatable characters. The complexity of the story makes this an engaging read, one that moves quickly as well. If Ms. Goldenbaum knits as well as she writes, her pieces must be highly treasured.

A bit slow paced, and a lot of characters that made it hard to focus on the story.
The story is set in a small town, where everyone knows each other. A murder occurs and suspects are pilling up and motives are everywhere.
It shows how we don't really know the people that surrounds us.

I received a free copy of HOW TO KNIT A MURDER (Book 13 of the Seaside Knitters Society Mysteries) by Sally Goldenbaum. When the scion of a wealthy local family is found murdered, there are no end of suspects. This is mostly because the victim was a bully with a past littered with his own victims. The story shifts from the point of view of several characters: the victim, the victim’s wife, the mayor, a realtor, and several others. Because I haven’t read any of the prior books, it was a bit confusing. It took me awhile to sort out the different people and what they had to do with the others.

I would recommend HOW TO KNIT A MURDER to fans of the series. The author’s decision to not introduce the characters within the story has the benefit of omitting all of the repetitive blah blah blah that bores readers of a long-running series and takes up pages and pages with stuff everyone should already know. However, it has the drawback of confusing the dickens out of people new to the series. If you are a series novice, start with the first book; otherwise, you might get as lost as I was.

A very feel good cosy mystery, very much a page turner. My only problem was that there was just too many characters with minimum involvement in the story, and I needed to frequently flick back to the character list at the front. Having said that it was a very intriguing mystery, with a warm feeling in the characters that where the main players. A good one for light mystery readers.

This has been one of my favorite series since Book 1. And this one did not disappoint! I was genuinely surprised at who the killer was!

Izzy, Birdie, Nell, and Cass are some of my favorite characters. I love the comfy feeling I get when I open a book by Sally Goldenbaum and How to Knit a Murder is a great addition to the series.

When a young woman visits Izzy's yarn shop, she saves the day, literally. AS the tight knit friends draw Rose Chopra under their wings, they discover a horrible secret that has haunted Rose all her life.
When Rose becomes a top suspect in a murder investigation, it's up to the group of friends to dig deep into the tangled mess and find the answers.

I really enjoy the setting for this series. The author weaves a very life like story that is easy to lose yourself in while reading.
I highly recommend this story and the entire series.

I volunteered to read and review an ARC of this book offered by the publisher and NetGalley.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are people that you would like to hang out with, and there is a handy glossary at the front in case you forget who is who. Sea Harbour is a place that seems very inviting and would be fun to visit. Sally Goldenbaum has written a mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end. I hope there are more of these stories to enjoy.

Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from books that are graphic and intense and just immerse yourself in a nice, cozy mystery. You will find that in this charming installment by Sally Goldenbaum. An attractive setting, good characters and a mystery that will keep you interested. What more could you ask for?

Sea Harbor is a magical place and the Seaside Knitters (Nell, Izzy, Birdie and Cass) live magical lives there filled with love, great friendships, good food and, of course, knitting, except for those occasions when murder intrudes into their lives. When Rose Chopra fortuitously steps into Izzy's knitting shop at the exact moment that a pipe burst and with her DIY expertise is able to fix the problem, the Seaside Knitters adopt her into their circle. They find her an apartment and a job with their friend Stella, a realtor, rehabbing houses before they are put up for sale. Rose is working at a large estate when she is confronted by Spencer, a real estate developer planning to buy the house, but someone who had bullied her in high school. When Spencer is later found dead in the house that same night and Rosie is the last one to have seen him, she becomes a suspect. So the intelligent women of the Seaside Knitters put their heads together to figure out the real solution to the crime. I love this series because of the characters - I only wish Sea Harbor was a real place so I could visit Izzy's knit shop and join them for a Thursday night knitting session.
