This series is always a guaranteed good book.
This fourth book in the series does not disappoint.
I really enjoy this series. The characters are engaging and the setting of the book retreat is a place I'd love to visit.
The whodunit was well written and I could not put the book down.
I look forward to reading the next in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I love this series. You get great characters, a mystery, humor, and a sweet budding romance. It makes me want to write a book.
I received a free copy of SLAY IN CHARACTER (A Cat Latimer Mystery Book 4) by Lynn Cahoon in exchange for an honest review. Cat Latimer is an author of young adult novels and owns an inn where she hosts writing retreats. One of her guests, Jessi Ball, is present as part of a fellowship granted by local Covington College. Jessi works part-time at the local ghost town attraction, and she is called away from the retreat unexpectedly because her college roommate, who was supposed to be covering Jessi’s shifts during the retreat, disappeared mid-shift. However, Jessi’s troubles are just beginning when the roommate is found murdered. As it turns out, the roommate was a terrible person who was secretly doing awful things. With the success of the book retreat in jeopardy, Jessi being the primary suspect, and a local Family man asking Cat to watch out for Jessi, Cat decides to help her uncle investigate.
I have not read the prior books in this series. Though the earlier stories were referenced, it does not seem like they were spoiled. Though I was unfamiliar with the characters, there was enough background given to identify them. I enjoyed this book, and I recommend it to fans of the Cat Latimer Mysteries and to anyone looking for an inn-type or writing-centric cozy mystery (though series-novices might want to start with the first book, A STORY TO KILL).

Cat, Shauna, Seth and Uncle Pete are back to solve a new mystery during the writers retreat. This time the local writer from the college is involved. Loved Seth’s big surprise.
Goodreads & Facebook
Cat runs a writers retreat out of her house located near a ghost town, turned tourist attraction.
The current group of writers are trying to find inspiration for their historical romance books that need to be finished. There are a few subplots that keep the story interesting, and the characters more defined.
When a murder occurs, and estrange things start to happen, our main characters get involved in the search for the truth, with all the possible scenarios more disturbing than the other.
The story has a nice pace and the interest level is kept high.
Slay in Character is the 4th Cat Latimer mystery by Lynn Cahoon. This series just gets better with each new book. This one gives us a new group of characters at the writer's retreat and they're a very likable group of women. Usually there's at least one character that annoys me amongst the retreat guests, but that wasn't the case this time. I did guess who the killer was, but I couldn't guess why they'd do it, so it was still a satisfying resolution for me. I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series. I do hope we get to see a bit more of Dante. Not that I don't like Cat and Seth together, but I think Dante is an interesting choice of friend for Cat. Here's hoping that happens in the next book.
Note: I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my fair and honest review.
This was a good read. It's about Cat and members of her writers retreat who travel Colorado, an “Old West” tourist town. In which the town is dress up into famous historical figures when a murder college student who dress as a 19-century saloon girl start off the mystery why was she murder was she attending target or was it ment for Cat or the members of her writers group or the people in town. I won't tell what happens but it was a good mystery and I could totally see this as made for tv movie on the hallmark channel because it remind of the mystery movies on the hallmark channel.
