I recceived a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This storyline was very well put together and having the multiple POVs was a good thing. It was not as straight forwards as most stories but the tale what was woven was more than enough to make up for that. It is a very good introduction to this author. I am not sure what I can compare it too, but it as enjoyable to read. I don't read a lot of sci-fi but I do see that I am missing things at time and was glad to have found this story.

The cover was amazing and that is what initially drew me to this book. When I read the blurb, I was sold. The story is told third person through multiple characters. While it was interesting to read from each person’s perspective I much prefer more streamlined book, two characters max but the story itself made up for that. The world the author built was intriguing and kept me reading. I love Marvel, DC, and Star Wars and felt right at home with the author’s superhumans.

There is also AMAZING artwork throughout the book and it lends to the story quite beautifully. I’m looking forward to more books in the series.

I liked the idea of this book. A lot. But the execution was poorly done. To the extent that I DNFed it at 47%.

What I mainly missed were clear explanations. There is a lot that happened before the events in this book, which are of big importance. Yet is is never clearly told what exactly happened, who is who, what these superpoweres include, what the different projects and agencies are, etc etc etc. You actually need to read the blurb to get some idea of what is going on.

The writing style also just wasn’t for me. I felt the author was trying too hard at times, making me eventually read the words but not taking anything in.

Still I read about 180 pages before I decided to DNF this book. This is becuase of the few very good and interesting scenes that occured now and then, making me want to get it… struggeling through hoping it would all click together for me.

Another great part of the book are the illustrations. They really are quite gorgeous.

Overall, this is a book with some good ideas, but it just didn’t work. Not for me at least.

Unfortunately this was a book that I had high hopes for and it just fell short.

I got through around 30 pages and the writing style didn't capture me. It felt slow paced and full of unnecessary description that didn't push the story or characters forward.

I feel it would still be a good read for someone who prefers a slower paced book because the plot does sound amazing and that's what's keeping it at an average rating.

I'm about 20% into the book and I'm going to give up. It's just not for me.

The description piqued my interest, but my main issue is with the writing style and pacing as well as the characters.
It felt stiff and I often had to read a sentence twice. I always play the story in my head, but I had difficulties through descriptions of surroundings and action scenes. The characters felt flat and I didn't root for or felt connected to any of them.

One of the examples of a description that made me put down the book:

"A mushroom-shaped watchtower held a wicked smile of broken windows and was bent near the base, as if welcoming them with a butler’s bow."

If you like this sort of writing, you'll enjoy the book. Unfortunately I can't recommend Zosma.

This was a very unique fantasy, and one I really enjoyed. I thought the plot and characters were both pretty complex, and I did not want to put the book down. Also, the cover art is amazing, I mean If I saw this book on a shelf at the store, it would definitely be the first thing I picked up.

This book was as imaginative at its title and cover indicate. One of the aspects of science fiction I love is how deep ideas can be explored in fun and interesting ways — this book is a fine example of that literary trait. A recommended sci-fi title.
