I was not only intrigued by the book illustration but also by the title and from the description thought it should be a very good , entertaining read.I felt like the story was just an expanded outline, and while the author tried to keep it moving, the story did not flow well, laying waste to a very plausible plot. There were any number of ways the book could have gone, but it didn't seem like these women had anything in common, there wasn't any real, sustainable camaraderie between the characters, only lots of resentment and malice.Ultimately this will be a forgettable book which is unfortunate ,since it had the potential, with a well crafted story to become great find .

Not sure about this one. It was ok as a quick poolside read maybe. The title of the book is a little confusing, the duck featured in a very small way. An interesting take on friendships, which frustrated me as I'm not sure these girls really liked each other all that much and I would have walked away from such relationships but maybe that's just me. Felt like quite an abrupt ending.

I received A Lot of Fuss About a Duck as an ARC from Netgalley. I enjoyed the story of the relationships between 3 friends who have been friends since grade school. However, just as the stories became interesting the book just ended and I felt like there was more to be told. The way the book ended was very disappointing.

Lauren, Olivia and Julia have been friends forever despite being very different characters. They holiday in the south of France and their lives head in very different directions. Hard times are ahead with each woman having to look inside herself and choose a different path than they had planned. But their friendship endures and they learn about love, life and each other.
Really enjoyable and believable characters, this book is a joy to read!

A really nice story about female friendships. A little like sex in the city, it’s engaging from the start and the characters were well drawn and believable.

I expected this book to be a light read about friendships. It delivered on that, but more. The author's style of writing, skipping from one perspective to the next and letting the reader figure out for themselves things that in other books are spelled out was refreshing and fun to read. In some ways it encouraged me to engage in the story more because every word was important.

The three women the book centers around were wildly different in personality and their friendship over time stood firm and felt real. The other characters in the book felt more like bit players. They were important, but the underlying three women were the major players.

My only criticism, and it's not even a criticism but more an observation is that when the book ended, I felt like it was abrupt, but once I thought about it, I don't know how the author would do differently without changing the writing style of the book. We are given a glimpse into three lives over a period of time and when we draw back, the glimpse is done, but those lives would continue.

The name of the book is curious, as it doesn't seem to fit the book. It refers back to a tiny scene. Having said that it is entirely possible I completely missed the meaning of the duck in that scene.

A lot of fuss about a duck...
I don't know what I was expecting after that title, but it certainly wasn't this story.
This is the story of three friends who are extremely different, and who don't seem to get along or care for each other deeply, although they say they do.
The incident with the duck was insignificant, I don't understand how it got to the title.
The time line was hard to get at times, and some things are mentioned, but never explained in full.
Other than that, the story was easy to read.
Thanks NetGalley for my copy of this book.

Lauren, Olivia and Julia are young woman trying to get through their lives. Lauren is newly married and not getting along in her marriage. Julia is ready for love, and Olivia sleeps with many man as she seems to get bored easily. The part of the book that relates to the title was silly and the ending too abrupt. Lauren is not a character that can be easily liked as she is high maintenance and entitled. Olivia is also not very likeable, the only character worth reading about was Julia. The writing and dialogue seemed cliched.

Cute story but there were times I wasn’t sure if the next chapter was a day after or months later. Lauren, is spoiled but did not deserve what she got. Olivia is just bad I would not have her for a friend. Never did figure out why she freaked out when she fell out the door of the night club. Seems like something she did all the time. The third girl was so boring I don’t even remember her name and I just finished the book a few hours ago. Read it or don’t, it was better than nothing on my flight yesterday.
