I'm happy to have found a "new to me" series. American Operator is book 4 of 5 in the Tier One series. I began reading and realized that it is not a stand alone story. However, the characters are extremely compelling, so much so that I sought out the previous 4 books. American Operator is a very balanced action thriller. I appreciated the author's not using too much technical jargon. The action sequences are believable and well drawn. I am invested in the series m\now. Bring on book 5!
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

Really enjoyed reading this book. Lots of twists and turns in the storyline. Interesting characters in there too. All very good and easy to read.

"American Operator" eBook was published in 2018 and was written by Jeffrey Wilson and Brian Andrews (http://www.andrews-wilson.com). Between them they have published six novels. This is the fourth novel in their "Tier One Thrillers" series.

I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence. The story is set in the contemporary Middle East. The primary character is former Tier One Navy SEAL John Dempsey, now an agent for the super-secret Ember strike force.

Dempsey is in deep cover on an assignment with the rest of his Ember team standing by on an American airbase in allied Turkey. A terrorist attack leaves the US Ambassador to Turkey dead and his chief of staff, Amanda Allen hostage. Complicating matters is the near-simultaneous attack on the US airbase. The team must fight off aggressors before they can recover Dempsey and begin pursuit of Allen.

Dempsey left on his own after the attack takes down his communications, does what he can to find Allen. He puts himself in the position of taking on Allen's kidnappers who have a near overwhelming force available to maintain their hostage. The Ember team soon finds there is more in play than just an attack on a US airbase or the taking of an embassy staffer.

I enjoyed the nearly 9 hours I spent reading this 426-page special operations thriller. I have had the opportunity to read all four novels in this series and have enjoyed each of them. While having the background of the other three novels will help, this novel stands well on its own. I like the characters that the authors have created for this series. I like the chosen cover art. I give this novel a 4 out of 5.

Amanda Allen sees her boss, the US ambassador to Turkey killed right before her eyes. Why are they kidnapping her? Besides being his chief of staff she works for the CIA, but how would they know.? Ember sends John Dempsey to see where she could be and who took her. They have crossed into Syria. The crew is waiting to come help him but then they come under attack. Can they save her in time? Lots going on and it seems like every time the team tries to back him up something gets in the way. Spine tingling read that keeps you wondering if they can get to Amanda in time.

Great book, great characters. Highly recommend to others!! Cannot wait for more from this author, or say enough good things about this story.

Amanda Allen is working for the Ambassador to Turkey when a bomb explodes. She is kidnapped and taken to Syria as a hostage. Amanda is more than a diplomat, she is, also an undercover CIA agent. Why do they want her? Why is she important enough to take? There's something else afoot. The government calls out Ember, an American black ops force. They are the best at what they do. If anyone can save her, it will be them. John Dempsey is one of the Ember team and the most experienced. He is not just a member of Ember, he is a weapon. When he comes face to face with a legendary. agent from the other side, all hell breaks loose. Which one will survive? How will this affect the power struggle in the middle east? A great book full of non stop action and one of the the most exciting books of the year. I received this book from Net Galley and Thomas and Mercer Publishing for a honest review and no compensation otherwise. The opinions expressed are my own.

Action action action- would make a good movie. Some of this might seem over the top but what the heck. Biggest issue: CIA employees are called officers not agents or operatives. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A fast read.

I love a good spy thriller. I though this book had a good story line, and engaging main character but lots of jargon that distracts from the plot. For a casual reader, it's overkill. I would read the next book in the series, and will look to read the previous books in the series but the spy jargon and acronyms need to be cut back. I think the reader would get the point without so much of it.. If you need to have a several page glossary of terms at the end of the book, you're doing it wrong. Thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy of this book for review.

I have not read the other books in this series unfortunately, as this is definitely one of the best action thrillers ever written. The authors really know what they are talking about; not only on guns, fighting, spying and such, but also the problematic situations with Turkey/NATO/Russia/Syria. A definite MUST read.

Great read. Mystery, suspense and romance all thrown in with sexy covert operations. I enjoyed the characters and the interactions between the commander and his men. Amanda is one tough cookie.

A well written book about a secret group within the United States special forces structure that is called upon to deal with only the most difficult missions. I have read previous books by this author and they do not disappoint. John Dempsey is the nominal face of this group and as he goes through trying to save a kidnapped CIA operative posing as a diplomat, it brings up past trauma where he left someone behind to the enemy that never returned. He faces an operative from another group trained as well as they have been trained and it is a chess match to the end. The book ends in without a conclusion so I happily look forward to the culmination of this story. Thank you Thomas and Mercer and Netgalley for the ARC for my honest review.
