I struggled to finish this book. The discription of the book sounded interesting, but I couldn't get in to it.
I have to say that I tried several times to get into this book, but I just couldn't. I want to say it was just my state of mind, The plot/storyline sounds great! I plan to come back to this title another day.
Thank you for the opportunity to read it.
Highly enjoyable supernatureal cozy mystery. The cast of characters are quirky and fun. This is a very entertaining read. I will be looking up the prior installments.
Leo Pierson has had some art nouveau pieces stolen from his home. He hires David Randall to find his pieces with the help of his friends from Grace Street where they all live in one large house. The main piece to find is the dragonfly which may be cursed. People start to be found murdered and it is up to David to solve the case.
This is the first book I have read from Jane Tesh. A good mystery with a touch of psychic readings thrown in to help with the case. It will hold your interest while reading.
What on earth is going on in the Parkland art community? Is the stolen Lalique dragonfly David Randall has been hired to find really cursed? Really? In the meantime, Randall's friend Camden is struggling with his own issues, including his psychic visions. I'd not read the earlier books in this series and admit to being at sea for some of it. It is, however, amusing if somewhat implausible in parts. It's a cozy of sorts but with men as the lead characters. I liked Camden more than David but also worried for him. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. I suspect fans of the series will be most happy with this installment.
This book wasn't for me. Which is unfortunate, because I usually love a cozy art-mystery. The writing is good, the characters likable, there are just so many of them. But what did it was the pace: so slow I started skipping pages. That's when I knew I was wasting my time. Maybe one day I have enough patience to give it another try.
psychics, greed, situational-humor, verbal-humor, murder, twisty, laugh-out-loud, investigation, suspense, supernatural, private-investigators
If you are expecting another formula mystery with predictable characters, look elsewhere! This one certainly has several mysteries, plot twists, red herrings, the good guys and villains, but it has verbal and situational humor combined with fun characters and dysfunctional psychics and is narrated by the PI who tries to make sense of all the goings on. The publisher's blurb is better than most and give a lot of information, but the book certainly exceeds the blurb! NO HOT BEVERAGE WHILE READING THIS ONE! Guffaws and laughing out loud frequently could cause some messy situations. Just thinking about the scene where the snake averse psychic has two boas in the backyard talking to him asking permission to climb trees has me giggling and snurfling!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Poisoned Pen Press via NetGalley. Thank you!
I don't even know where to begin. This was a very weird and not very mysterious mystery. I just could not relate to anyone in this book and I actually found some of the characters and the plot line ridiculous. This book was without a doubt not my kind of story. I forced myself to finish this and am sorry I did.
