This was such a cosy Christmas read that made me feel all warm inside. It was funny, lighthearted and such a lovely book about refunding the Christmas spirit. I also liked the enemies to lovers trope inside this book. I’m glad will and Sarah got there happy ending.
Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!
I love a good giggle! Thus said, if you do too then you might want to read this privately as along with giggling I might have had some outright snorting laughter.🤣
I would firstly like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Predictable and perhaps a little repetitive at times, but overall, I really enjoyed this one. A light-hearted, bittersweet, festive story that had plenty of humour, sass, and romance.
I can't say too much without spoiling the story, but with a beautiful snowy setting, flawed but likeable characters, a broody handsome stranger, excellent chemistry between the main characters, and a few unexpected plot twists thrown in, this is most definitely a must-read!
I’ve read a couple of Zara’s books and enjoyed them. This one was no different. Took me a little while to get into it but was a good read and a good ending. I’d look out for her next book. Thank you for accepting my request.
My first festive read of the year. Wasn't quite the fluffy light read I was expecting - a few darker storylines nestling just below the surface waiting to be told. Some quirky characters along the route which provide some comedy moments. Will never look at a Gladioli in the same light!
This was a charming little rom-com. I love the festive holiday feel and I can't wait to read more books from Zara Stoneley.
Lovely festive feel good read. Enjoyed it very much. This is one to curl up in front of the fire with in the winter. Flowed well. Was easy to read and thoroughly enjoyable
It’s the most magical time of the year, and for travel agent Sarah it’s also the busiest! But this year one man threatens to ruin Christmas for Sarah’s customers – Mr Grinch, Will Armstrong.
The Shooting Star Mountain resort is a magical place, and Sarah has fond memories of Christmas here as a little girl – visits to Father Christmas, husky rides in the snow and hot chocolate by a roaring fire. But as the resorts new owner, Will refuses to play snowball or to deck the halls with anything remotely resembling tinsel!
With customers complaining their Christmas is ruined, Sarah decides it’s up to her to convince Scroogey Will just how magical Christmas can be….
But getting Will into the Christmas spirit is hopeless – he is Bah Humbug personified! But as Sarah gets to know him better, she realises that underneath all the gloom is a man struggling with a pain of his own.
With the big day approaching, Sarah realises that the magic and sparkle can wait. This year, she’s going to spend Christmas day with someone special her very own Mr Scrooge…
Sarah works in the travel agency belonging to her Auntie. When she gets into a bit of an e-mail war with the man who runs the Shooting Star Mountain Resort in Canada, it ends up with her going to stay there for a week in order to see why this holiday destination – one she remembers as a magical place, is now getting the reputation of being the worst place to be.
Sarah wants to see for herself what is going on and more importantly, she wants to help restore the place to its former glory. She also wants to give the manager, Will Armstrong a piece of her mind.
This is one of the things I love most about this time of year. All of the Christmas books. The festive feeling of curling up with a book set around Christmas makes me very happy indeed.
Immediately, I liked Sarah (and her co-worker Sam who will be familiar if you’ve previously read The Wedding Date.) She has something about her that I clicked with. I want to be her friend. She’s quite an open character but at the same time, you realise very quickly that there is something about herself that she holds back.
I also want to go to the Shooting Star Mountain Resort. My, does it sound absolutely stunning.
Something like this must exist right?
The way Zara describes the mountains, the snow – I could imagine myself sitting in-front of that beautiful view with a hot chocolate. A perfect place to spend Christmas.
No One Cancels Christmas Full Tour BannerWill and Ed could not be more different but each has a charm about them that make them very easy to warm to. There is certainly a lot going on with these siblings and there is more than meets the eye. Nothing is given away too soon.
This book has humour (laugh out loud moments,) warmth, a beautiful setting and wonderful characters. This is one book I recommend get put on your Christmas to read pile.
Great christmas story. Nice romance and some great sub characters. The book flowed nicely and i got entirely swept up in it.
I love a festive read and the blurb for No One Cancels Christmas by Zara Stoneley was irresistible. I simply couldn’t miss out on the blog tour. So if you’ll forgive me, here we go …
Firstly, the “magical Christmas” wasn’t too saccharine with the intriguing “what went wrong that Christmas when Sarah was a child” and the bah-humbug holiday resort. In a way, it was tinged with an awareness of what can be a difficult time for many people/ families.
The characters are warm and engaging. I haven’t read any other books by the author so although I gather some of them are in other books, it certainly doesn’t impact on this as a stand-alone book.
It made me laugh out loud (during my son’s music lesson, much to his embarrassment). And the guy from The Mentalist (even if we all have to google his name) … well … yes!
It’s a quick read, partly because it’s light, but mostly because I couldn’t put it down. Yup, this is a 1am-prop-your-eyes-open-with-matchsticks book.
Enjoy!
No One Cancels Christmas is a fun holiday adventure. The story is lively and charming. The characters are loveable and adorable. It's a fast entertaining read. No big surprises here. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
brilliant boo, read within 3 days, couldn't out it down and fully immersive. I love all of zara books and once opened everything takes a back seat
Truly a delightful story with lots of plots, that keep you never wanting to put the book down. I read in one day. The end was totally surprising. Having been disappointed with another Zara Soneley novel, I am glad I took the time to read this book.
This book was definitely a festive romcom that was perfect for a December read however I found myself loosing interest as it took a while to get going in the beginning and I felt a lot of information and phrases were repeated in the first quarter of the book however once the book progressed it was much more enjoyable!
I have read a few books by this author now and loved them all so I was delighted to see that she had a new book out ready for Christmas 2018!
I loved the plot in the book, it was easy to follow and whilst I felt it was a tad predictable in places that didn’t stop me enjoying it from start to finish. I loved the characters and they worked so well together, it was a complete treat to read! I loved the setting and it was a good, fun read too.
I loved it – 5 stars from me – very highly recommended – a complete Christmas treat!!
In theory this book has everything to make me one happy Christmas reader. It has a wonderful setting, full of nature and snow. It has a good dose of humor and it has a woman who wants to save Christmas no matter the cost. And most of all it has a sexy male lead who will obviously be the love interest.
So why couldn't Noone Cancels Christmas convince me. Maybe after all the Christmas books I have read over the years I am setting the bar quite high. Christmas stories should be warming, festive and cheery, but I tend to look for an overall believable story and I think that is where Noone Cancels Christmas and I lost each-other.
From the very beginning I was quite enchanted with Will, the so called mister Grinch. I honestly couldn't follow the plotline where Sarah was flipping out about him being an awful men. He really wasn't. Even in his mails he had a wicked sense of humor, that flattered me while reading. Will was actually the one that kept me reading. I wanted to scream at Sarah that she needed to put glasses on and see what real humor looked like.
Apart from that I thought the overall story just contained to much "unrealistic" features. Closing a travel agency on a whim. People showing up on the other end of the world. It just all felt like plot devices to get a story told and I really don't like that. A story should stand on its own and not have all kind of weird devices to get to the final act. Especially the turn Wills story took was bugged me. It wasn't original, it wasn't even really necessary. The ending just really left my mind blasted because of the completely insane explanation of events.
That being said, overall I enjoyed myself while reading. It was fast paced, funny at times and it gave me those Christmas vibes I want when reading a Christmas novel. The writing was really good and I actually want to explore more of Zara's books. Just to see if this was just a hit and miss with me.
Review will be published on my blog on 25/12/2018
No One Cancels Christmas is about travel agent Sarah who is sad to see complaints about her favourite Christmas holiday resort – The Shooting Star Mountain Resort and resolves to do something about it. The new owner, Will, seems to be be unwilling to listen to Sarah so she decides she has to do something herself to turn it around.
This book opens with Sarah sending a series of stroppy emails to Will, one by accident, and this was very amusing. I was keen to see what would happen when Sarah decides to go to the resort to confront Will in person.
This novel wasn’t as full-on festive as I was hoping it would be but there are Christmas things sprinkled throughout. Initially the resort is really sad and tired, there is no sign of Christmas being near but Sarah throws herself into bringing the holiday season to Shooting Star and as she begins to work her magic the Christmas spirit begins to shine through the pages.
I liked that there was more depth to this novel than it just being a Christmas romance. Sarah was abandoned by her parents at Shooting Star resort as a young child and ended up living with her aunt so she has unresolved pain to work through. Will has his demons too and gradually we find out exactly what happened to each of them.
All in all this was a lovely novel to read near Christmas and I would recommend it. It’s definitely fun and romantic, and there’s lots of snow!
No One Cancels Christmas by Zara Stoneley. She had to go on an adventure to find out how much her mother loved her.
My first escape into the world of Zara Stoneley's writing began with The Wedding Date, which captured my heart as far as stories go and No One Cancels Christmas is no different. With a stunning Canadian backdrop sprinkled with shimmering snow, how could a story fail to capture the magic of this festive time of year.
Everything, apart from the kitchen sink is thrown into this story. We have snow, Scrooge, smouldering hot brothers, snowboarding, snow mobiles, a mountain resort in need of a festive facelift and a gutsy gal hell bent on saving the day to name but a few. This smorgasbord of plot treats all add up to create an exceptionally entertaining story that had me hooked from page one.
Each character played their part to perfection with style and charisma. I've found that Zara has the knack for creating instantly likeable characters. Our leading lady Sarah, is fearless and edgy but uses this facade to hide away from past rejections. I was swept up in her journey of self discovery and championed her on every step of the way as she blossomed into the confident and emotionally free young woman we see in the concluding pages. The brooding hero Will reminded me of a cross between Mr Darcy and Mr Rochester so I had no option but to swoon. The chemistry between the two was electric and I was on the edge of my seat in a reading frenzy, silently demanding that sought after happy ending. Sam was an unexpected treat I must say, having met her previously in The Wedding Date it felt like I was having a catch up with an old friend.
This Christmas rom-com is everything that you could possibly want and more. I loved every moment of my time spent at the Shooting Star Mountain Resort and couldn't recommend this book highly enough. If you haven't read it yet then what are you waiting for. This is a festive treat not to be missed.
