From the first page, this book created a sexy, glamorous otherworldly environment, infused with humanity. Kasima Wilder is an editor for a local paper in over her head and lying to herself about the state of her relationship. When her boyfriend, Brian pitches the idea of a pass for the evening, to attend the once a year, exclusive Ball that allows vampires and mortals to mingle in a decadent anything-goes environment, she reluctantly agrees. This was meant to be their last moment of freedom before settling down. The problem is, it’s a moment she didn’t need.
Posted at the bar, she watches Brian wine and dine, other ladies, until an aggressive man brings a vampire to her rescue. Lex is a masculine, lithe, strong vamp, with a sense of humor and thoughtfulness. The passion that boils up between them explodes on the pages, but their road is not an easy or clear-cut one.
I don’t want to give away too much, but Ms. Fay did an excellent job of keeping Kas independent despite her how smitten she was. A young professional, she balanced her dating life with work, and we caught glimpses of the world she lived in. One that existed after a war between humans and vampires ravaged the world we knew and forced them to rebuild.
The best part about this book was how many moving parts it had. Adventure, romance, misunderstanding, and character growth kept me turning the pages. There were times when I wanted to shake Kas, but in the end, she didn’t let me down. I saw her mature and come into her own, which is one of my favorite things to experience with a female lead. I enjoyed the story, but I longed to know more about the world briefly mentioned.
Kasmina’s boyfriend thinks they should spice up their relationship and go to Evernights for a masquerade ball that you can hook with anyone you want and go back to being yourself in the morning. Kasmina doesn’t want to sit and watch Brian with a bunch of women all night but she doesn’t want to find anyone either, but when a too dark and handsome stranger saves her from unwanted advances she figures what good for the goose is good for the gander. What Kasmina wasn’t prepared for was Lex, a powerful vampire that made love like she has never had before but the agree to be friends with benefits. The more they see of each other the more they like but a relationship like theirs could never go long term and they know it but their hearts aren’t getting the message and neither is Brian. Loved this story it kept you interested from the beginning till the end.
Wow, it has been so long since I’ve read Kiersten Fay and I can’t believe that I haven’t picked her up again sooner since I loved her Shadow Quest series so much, but now that I’ve read The Vampire’s Masquerade, I excited to read more! This book though, was sooooooo gooooood — I absolutely, positively LOVED it! I’ve been in such a book funk for awhile, but The Vampire’s Masquerade kept my attention the whole through — I never wanted to put it down. I wanted to get back to it whenever I did have to though and there was more than one time when I continued reading when I needed to stop because... life. So it’s safe to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
The Vampire’s Masquerade was exciting, steamy, and entertaining. It squeezed my heart, made me rant a little and shake my head, and it made me laugh a lot. It was such a fun, heart pounding story and I can’t wait to read the rest of the Creatures of Darkness books!
I don't normally read romance/erotica, however his one wasn't too bad. The characters were a little one dimensional but that is to be expected. The sex scenes were hot and we'll written.
This was my first time reading Kiersten Fay and it won't be my last. This is a hot, sexy paranormal romance. Lex is a sexy, strong, Alpha-Vampire who saves our sassy heroine Kasima. Throw in some bitter exes, strained human-vampire relationships, and lots of smut and you've got yourself a good time!
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
Beautifully written. I couldn't put this one down. Very steamy so not for the faint at heart or those who prefer clean reads but if you like some smexy wrapped up in a great story, this one is for you. A well deserved 4.5 Stars
First time reading Kiersten Fay and I enjoyed it! It was hot and steamy read. I'll definitely check out the rest of the books in this series!
This was my first book by Kiersten Fay and what a delight it was. This was a fantastic paranormal read. Very good characters development. Fast pace. Very steamy sex scenes. Some suspence in there too. The energy between Kasima and Lex was compelling. I need to read the first book in the story to understand this vampire clan even better.
I voluntarily reviewed this book and the opinion is all mine.
“The vampire’s Masquerade” by Kiersten Fay is a mix of Romance, Lust, and Adventure.
Kasima is at the Ever Nights Annual Masquerade Ball with her boyfriend Brian who decided that just for tonight they get a free pass to do anything they want before they get serious in their relationship. Brian doesn’t waste anytime once he gets there and Kasima finds herself at the bar watching him from afar. Lex being a vampire overhears kasima’s and her unwanted sleazeballs request and comes to her rescue. Their instantly attracted to each. Lex doesn’t waste anytime and starts small talk which later leads to their one night stand.
Lex and Kasima continue their relationship as friends with benefits but we all know this will lead to something bigger. Kasima has no choice but to tell Brian what happened that night at the ball and he is not too thrilled especially as Lex is a vampire himself and believes he compelled her.
I fell for Kasima and Lex’s relationship They’re meant for each other. This story goes in deeper into their lives and I would highly recommend reading it because it’s not just about their lusty and steamy nights together.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A wonderfully written paranormal romance with a solid plot. I greatly enjoyed reading it. Kiersten Fay is a new favorite of mine.
Kasima's boyfriend thinks it's a good idea for them to spice up their love life and go to a masquerade ball held by a vampire. But in truth he turns out to be a one way a-hole and Kasima gets the last laugh in the end
This is my first book in the Creatures of Darkness series.
Kasima’s boyfriend Brian takes her to the Ever Nights Annual Masquerade Ball where he wants them to have a last night of freedom before committing to each other. This is the notorious nightclub of vampire Cortez. When Brian leaves her alone she is saved by Lex from a vampires unwanted attention. Their passion ignites that night and you really enjoy the ups and downs of this new relationship . Kasima is introduced into the vampire community and finds a new family she has never had before. Watch out for Brian a man who really does not want to give her up!
I really enjoyed this story and hope there will be one for Kenzi.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and Kiersten Fay in exchange for an honest review.
This was a really fun and sweet read, I enjoyed it, and even though I normally like quick reads I actually wished there was more!
Kasima was at the ever Nights nightclub at the Masquerade Ball. She sat at the bar alone as her boyfriend was with other women all over him as he had talked into coming here and they both had a pass for the night before taking the next step. Kasima found it hard to believe her first visit to the nightclub on the night of the Masquerade Ball. The Ball drew rich tourists from all over the world, vampire and humans. Riverton had been war torn Cortez had built the town back up with his nightclub. There was now both vampires and humans but Kasima basically stayed away from the vampires community, Cortez offers a chunk of tickets to locals at a discount price Kasima thought that was when Brian bought his tickets months before the discounted tickets were offered. There were three types of people at the nightclub tonight= members who could pay the high yearly membership fee, and friends of those wealthy members invited to share a single wild night and a handful of lucky loyals. Kasima knowing she was in a den of vampires was unnerving. Kasima was surprised by the openness of how individuals groped each other in front of everyone else. Kasima was very loyal to whoever she was with and it hurt Brian wasn’t all entirely in like she was. A man came up to talk to her and put his hand on her leg Kasima told him she was meeting someone and the guy didn’t believe her and put his hand on her leg a second time and Kasima was ready to stop his hand and a stranger came up and set his hand on his shoulders and he acted like her date/boyfriend. The man said she may resent Brian for his totally deserting her and Kasima said he told me to find a partner. The Kasima and the vampire who had pretended to be with her, he and Kasima named every man in the room and one or the other shot them out the the vampire- offered to be her partner. Kasima felt a jolt of lust go through her. Then he said he would see if they had any chemistry. Then after a very hot kiss she left with the vampire as she had felt desire the likes of which she had never experienced before.. The took and elevator up to the vampire’s apartment and Kasima slept with the vampire. Brian hadn’t scored and was mad when Kasima told her she had and he said that wasn’t fair and they had to go back so he could have his pass. Kasima knew she was done with Brian. He took her back to Ever Nights to get his free pass the Lex- the vampire Kasina had been with came up to her. Brian was starting to make a scene and Lex fixed Brian up with a woman named Rita and he didn’t give Kasima a second look.as eh walked away with Rita. Lex took Kasima out to dinner and then his home. There he told he wasn’t boyfriend material but they could have a good time but he didn’t do commitment.
I have another new favorite vampire romance. I loved everything about this book I couldn’t even find anything to criticize happily! I loved Lex and Kasima together and how they interacted. There was definitely had hot hot chemistry between those two. I also loved the world building the author did. I like the vampires just didn’t try to take over humans. I loved the pace and the plot. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.
Kasima (odd name) agrees to go to a vampire club with her boyfriend Brian, so he can have a "last" fling. Naturally upset, she struggles with wanting to leave when suddenly she is saved from unwanted attention. Lex, one of the security personal at the club is gorgeous and a vampire. Sparks fly and so begins a hot and heavy romance. Fast paced and hard to put down. Highly recommend this story and author.
The Vampire’s Masquerade is about Kasima’s and her crappy boyfriend, Brian. He is such a jerk and decides he wants a “free pass” night. Which turns out to be a BIG mistake for him. Kasima meets Lex who happens to be a super HOT vampire. They really hit it off and sparks fly. I don’t want to give to much away but this was a fantastic storyline and the first book by this Author from me but it won’t be the last. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc.
I always like reading something different about vampires and this really offers that. Even tho it was a wham bam thank you mam situation throughout, the story line romance was good and kept you wanting to read on.
This is The First book I read by this author. But Her name was known to me for a while.
Kasima is a freewoman That went with Her boyfriend to The club to get a one Nightstand.
She got one, but Brian was not lucky.
Join Kasima in Her Full of passion relationship with sexy vampire Lex!
I will grab another book by this author for sure!
Kasima is pushed by her boyfriend, Brian, to do something she did not want. It leads to the best night of her life. Lex's approach really captures her attention and the readers attention.
This is a well written story that features some of the characters from the author's Siren series which I highly recommend. Kasima knows she is making a bad decision to be at the club at her boyfriend's direction. It really opens her eyes when a vampire approaches her and she realizes just what she has been missing. Their meeting is full of heat and you see just how connected they are. I love how their relationship develops. There are some twists that will surprise you.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.
Truly loved this book. I have read several of Kiersten Fay's books and actually read the first book in this series. I read sooo much I had not realized that she had more books until I bumped into this beauty. The attraction between Lex and Kasima was electric and the sex scenes were fire!!!! I loved the way the fell for each other but I did not love Lex's hesitation. I would not have dreamed of the way the book ended with Brian being a total psycho--it seemed to come out of nowhere, but I guess that explained his previous antics. Do not know how Kasima managed to survive that fiasco, but alls well that ends well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and immediately went and purchased the books before this one. I enjoyed that too!
