It's always lovely to read about the lives of those in Mulberry Lane.
A lovely page turner and good read.
There were so many characters thrown at me in the first few chapters of this book, that I simply found it impossible to engage with any of them. I just realized this is #4 in a series, and I definitely felt I needed to read those first.
Love reading about the residents of Mulberry Lane. Rosie Clarke does a wonderful job of bringing her characters to life, feels like I've known them for years. Another great book, hope there will be more to come in this series
I willing received this e-book from publisher Aria. To read and review for free. This is the first book I have read by author Rosie Clarke and it was great. I didn't realize this was number 4 in the series The Mulberry Lane. Not reading any other books in the series I didn't have all the background information on the characters such as Peggy, Maureen, Janet. It did causes some confusion for me but if you can keep going at the first couple of chapters you will fall right into place. The first couple of chapters they go into some background not a lot but enough to get you through. I would definitely recommend reading the whole series that way you can be up to speed on everything. This was a plot twisting story line that will want to have you keep coming back for more. I am already looking forward to book number 5. This e-book is for mature readers for sexual content and language. This book could be read anytime of the year and the whole series would make a great gift for someone. With the setting back in world war times this was be great for history seekers as well.
Rosie Clarke does a wonderful job of writing an interesting wartime novel. New Arrivals At Mulberry Lane is the forth to this series. While it is a stand alone book, you would gain so much more by going back and starting from the beginning. The story takes place in a small town with almost everyone living on Mulberry Lane. It is a great example of neighbors helping neighbors.
The author has a special way of bringing her characters to life. She gives us people we can't help but love, and ones we love to hate. Rosie shows us a painstaking look how life would be in London during the war. Supplies are low, rationing is severe and everyone is required to do their part for the war effort.
I received a copy of this book from Aria publishing through NetGalley. The opinions expressed here in this review are my own.
Excellent read heart warming characters reflexes the war u
Years and peoples opinions at the time a well developed storyline could not put the book down should be everyones reading list.
Having not read the other books in this series i still really enjoyed this warm light hearted out look of life would highly recommend
Excellent book with a great storyline. Characters that are so well written. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!
Nice book, it reflects from time to time on the war and the men leaving or coming home from the war.
It starts with Rose a young woman who hasn't had the best start in life, her mother liked to drink and flaunt herself in the family pub and her father murders her, ruth is tied to the same brush by the regulars and neighbors and couldn't take any more.
She walks into Mulberry Lane looking for work and somewhere to live, noticing the kitchen door to the pub "The pig & whistle" open she knocks and Peggy the landlady invites her in.
The story unfolds with Rose working and living at the pub also looking after Peggy's young twins. Life for Rose has never seemed better, she's happy and content. But then Peggy's nasty unfaithful husband Laurie returns home and starts throwing his weight about, he makes a pass at Rose who revokes him immediately which he doesn't like and finds out her secret, he then asks Peggy to lay Rose off as he doesn't like her and now he's home feels the pub doesn't need her help. Peggy feels pressured and succumbs to his wishes, the story continues with the lives of the residence of Mulberry Lane and the trials and tribulations.
This book has the right amount of drama, murders, violence, and sadness. I found it an easy read and could put it down and pick it up knowing the story.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity.
Another lovely story of the residents in Mulberry Lane and how they are coping during the war.I must admit i do love Rosie Clarke's books as she makes you feel as though you are there.Peggy,Maureen,Anne are still close friends and helping each other,Janet is staying with a friend after the death of Mike.A new face joins them and works for Peggy Rose is a great help and is in need of a new start, the people in the lane help her too, thats untill Laurie comes home and stamps his authority on the pub. There is also a bad apple in the lane about to cause trouble.I will be recommending this book well worth the 5*
As soon as I finish one of Rosie Clarke’s Mulberry Lane books I am already anxiously awaiting the next.
