A Timeless Christmas is a good fit for readers who enjoy heartwarming holiday stories with a touch of time travel and a focus on the magic of the season.
Megan Turner is in love with the past. As a tour guide at a beautiful historic mansion, she tells visitors about its original owner, Charles Whitley. An inventor and businessman in the early 1900s, he rose from poverty to wealth…only to disappear without a trace.
Charles was always intrigued by the future. He just never expected to go there. But when he repairs a mysterious clock he bought on his travels, he’s transported to the twenty-first century, with his home decorated for Christmas and overrun by strangers.
Charles is determined to find a way back to his own era, especially when he learns about what happened after he left. But as Megan introduces him to the wonders of smartphones, pizza, and modern holiday traditions, they both feel a once-in-a-lifetime connection. Could it be that, somewhere in time, they belong together?
A Timeless Christmas was an enjoyable read. It started a bit slow for me but I kept going and the movie was great as well.
I loved this book so much I read it straight through. I couldn't put it down and would definitely recommend
This book was so great! I enjoyed every minute. I am so excited that they came out with a new movie for it this year 2020. But you need to read the books. I love how they are from two different eras. How Charles experience the 21st century is so much fun!! Oh I love Hallmark!!
Megan Turner is a tour guide at a beautiful historic mansion where she tells visitors about its original owner, Charles Whitley. An inventor and businessman in the early 1900s, he rose from poverty to wealth…only to disappear without a trace Well, it seems he disappeared to the future. The story has a dual timeline where we learn about Charles in 1902. While repairing a clock to give his fiancee, something happens and he ends up in the future at the right time. The re-enactor who plays Charles for the tours has just quit and Charles ends up playing himself. As he learns about the future, Megan learns about the past, which she loves. They also learn about each other, Christmas traditions and their hopes and dreams. Does Charles have to return to the past or will he stay in the present day with Megan?
Once again, I was immersed in small town America. Christmas traditions and fun were shared throughout this story. The time travel plotline was well done. Of course no one believes him until he shared information and knowledge that only Charles Whitley would have. The friendship that develops between Megan and Charles was sweet and well written. He helps her to deal with a situation that has been causing problems and once resolved it helps her to reach for a goal and dream that she has. Charles is upset when he finds out what transpired after he disappeared and is adamant that he needs to return to 1902. Will love win out? Well, this is a Hallmark story after all. I very much enjoyed this one and recommend it to those who enjoy a HEA, the Hallmark way.
Time travel?? Pizza?? Romance?? Sign me up! This story is one of my absolute favorites and it really sticks with you. i can't wait to see this one become a Hallmark Channel Original movie!
This was the perfect book for the holiday season. I absolutely loved the storyline and the characters. It reminded me a bit of one of my favorite movies, Somewhere in Time. I am a huge fan of time travel books and this is going on my list of favorites. Thank you for allowing me to read it.
This was a fun, new take on time travel. An easy, enjoyable read with a Christmas (bah, humbug) kind of theme.
Hallmark has released the best Christmas books over the last few years and while this one isn't my favorite, it's still so incredibly good! Time travel mix with the Christmas season to create cute love story and a very good holiday read!
A Timeless Christmas is a standalone novel by Alexis Stanton.
Megan Turner wants to be a University lecturer teaching history. Until she gets her dream job she enjoys working at a historic mansion originally owned by Charles Whitley. Charles is famous for his inventions and as a businessman in the early 1900s. He is also a mystery because one day he just disappeared from his home and was never found again.
During one of her guided tours where she takes part in re-enacting life in the mansion, Megan leads her group to Charles' study. A new actor was there playing the part of Charles to an absolute tee. He couldn't have got it wrong because he wasn't an actor, he was the real Charles. He had time travelled whilst working on a clock he had picked up in Paris!
The scene where Charles first encounters all the strange people rudely entering his study all dressed ridiculously and holding strange devices in their hands (their phones) was a real pleasure to read. From there he convinced Megan and the others that worked at the mansion that he was the real Charles. He had to find a way back to his own time, but in the meantime, he would act as himself at the mansion in order to earn wages and have a place to stay until he could get back to his time.
I really liked the premise of this story and the first part of the book where Charles first arrives in the future was fabulous. I loved the scenes where he realised what happened, and where Megan had to come to terms with the fact that he was really from the past. The possible romance between them was sweet but although I knew there would be a time when he would have to choose between staying in the future or going back to his time, I didn't get a sense of urgency. I didn't need to read as quickly as I could to find out how the book would end.
I also think that although Charles was an open-minded person, after his initial arrival in the future he seemed to take to life in that century too easily. I started to forget that he was even from the past. He lost a lot of his old school charm as quickly as he lost his old-fashioned clothes.
On the whole, the book was nice, and I am glad that I read it despite it being a little unbelievable at times. Reviewed by AnnMarie:
Such a sweet read, it really is a Hallmark story (LOL). Characters that are loveable and friendly, a loving romance and beautifully described holiday make this a 5-star quick read.
Time travel, romance, and Christmas? Yes, please. This book hit all the buttons for what I love in a story. The characters were well written, the plot was original and well-paced, and the setting was perfect. All in all, A Timeless Christmas is a delightfully charming book that would make a terrific Hallmark movie (hint, hint). If you, like me, are a sucker for a good Christmas romance, then look no further. This is the book for you.
Thank you to Netgalley, author Alexis Stanton and the publishers for this free advanced DRC in exchange of an honest review. I really enjoyed this light-hearted time travel story about Megan, a tour guide at a historical mansion and Charles, the original owner from the 1900s. Most of the story centers around the modern day romance and is done in touch a way that is delightful to the readers.
Such a cute book. I loved the characters and the story line flowed well. It was a great Christmas read. I plan to read more books from this author.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review “A Timeless Christmas.” I hope to read more books by Alexis Stanton in the future. I never give spoilers but it was a good Seasonal read. I thought the story was very good and for me it was a quick read. Please check it out if you get the opportunity.
Special shout out to Hallmark publishing for the chance to read the ARC.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
OMGosh!!! I don't recall seeing a warning about tissues or don't read if you are currently experiencing a sinus infection!!! I bawled my eyes out several times!!!! This is the first time that I have read a book from this author and all I can say is WOW!! I really felt a part of the story here. Charles was so busy with inventing items and making money that life was really just passing him by. By a fluke, he travels from 1902 to 2018. What an eye opener for him. Seeing the twenty-first century through his eyes, it really made me appreciate all that we take for granted these days.
I really loved Charles and Megan. The chemistry between these two was readily apparent right from the time that they first appeared together. Megan was a fantastic female protagonist. She was strong (except when trying to move her career into teaching was involved), compassionate, lovable and willing to put the needs of others before her own. How could you not LOVE her. Charles, well he was full of faults but with each day in the future, you could see the blinders coming off. He was learning to live in the moment, to appreciate those around him.
This was written in my favorite dual POV. To see into the characters' thoughts really helped to understand them and appreciate them oh so much more.
I would adore seeing this made into a Hallmark Channel movie. Maybe just picturing this in my mind while reading would probably be better though. My mind can create the magic that this story told on it's own. I was glued to my e-reader with this own.
The feelings that this invoked in me were all over the place. Warning: Just make sure to have tissues handy!!!! I highly recommend this wonderful story!!
Imagine you are in the 1900s, curious of the future, and looking for someone to spend yours with and suddenly you have your wish... only if that wish is to be transported over a 100 years into said future due to a time travelling clock. Charles is ready to return to his time, but when he comes face to face with future dweller Megan, love may just be the key to keeping him here after all.
Only Hallmark has a way of making something this scary into a beautiful story. I could only imagine how insane it would be to end up in a time where cars, phones, and even the internet are every day things. I loved this book and I am glad Hallmark sent to me to review. Thanks!!

I have to just say, this was quite a lovely story.I did not get a chance to read it before Christmas, however I love a sweet Christmas story throughout the year! This is a book published by Hallmark, but unlike the others that I have read by Hallmark, this book is NOT based off of a movie and as of today, there is no movie related to it. I do believe they should make one, but as of now, there is nothing
We begin this book a few days prior to Christmas with Megan Turner leading tours of the famous Whitley-Moran Mansion, in a little upstate NY town of Cutter Springs in the Adirondack Mountains in present time. Megan has an undergraduate degree from Columbia, but returned home to obtain her graduate degree in American History. The mansion had been completed in 1902, as a gift for Mr. Whitley's fiance'e, Eliza. Megan plays the part of Rosie, the housekeeper of the mansion. She takes people through the house describing the Indiana limestone on the exterior, Russian mahogany all throughout the thirty rooms, including ten bedrooms, twelve bathrooms, a ballroom, three drawing rooms, a parlor, conservatory, billiards room and Mr. Whitley's private office. Someone on the tour mentions how big the house is and Megan replies that the house employs ten housemaids under her and Mr.. Fredericks, the butler and five footmen, a cook, three scullery maids, three kitchen maids, fifteen gardeners and a chauffeur/mechanic. Megan shows the tour a photo of Charles Whitley. As she picks up the photo, she gets a little jump f excitement and tingle in her chest, she confesses to the group that she has a little crush on him and asks that the group never tell him. The question of Mr. Whitley's death is brought up and the answer is that he disappeared mysteriously in 1902, right after the photo was taken, a week before Christmas. The condition in Mr. Whitley's will stated that whomever inherited the house upon his demise was to preserve at least 50% of the home in its original condition; no changes could be made, so that future generations could learn from him. Megan points out a clock in Mr. Whitley's study. The clock was purchased secondhand in 1902 from France, it is an eighteenth-century mantel clock. All the other clocks in the house are working, but this one does not. They cannot figure out why they cannot manage to get this one to work, despite scouring over his various journals.
Oh there are so many minute details of this house that I wish the mansion were real where I could go and ponder over all of the books and relish in all of the 19th century luxuries!
We are then taken back to 1902 as Charles Whitley is unloading his trunks from his long trip. He pries open the lid off a crate and fishes out a gold-plated mantel clock with an intricate enameled design on its case with pieces of white marble. This is the gift that he has purchased for his poor ignored Eliza. A Lunar Eclipse was happening while Charles decided to fix the clock. He tried to tighten something and is suddenly transported into the present. Megan, dressed as Rosie enters the room with a tour and this is where the excitement happens!
We go through the differences and the culture shocks that Charles has being in the 2000s with all the modern technology and how he has relied upon so many people in his house to support him, whether it be preparing his food, clothes, etc. We are then onlookers for the sweetest romance that there could be between someone from the past and the present. This was such a heartfelt novel and I honestly really hope that Hallmark is on their way to casting for this movie, if not already having it in production! It was well-written, heartfelt, filled with emotion and determination! I highly recommend this book!
This is the total embodiment of a Hallmark Christmas story. It's got time travel, a clean romance, and a bit of a mystery. If you're a fan of Christmas stories and Hallmark movies, this is the one to read.
I received a copy of A Timeless Christmas by Alexis Stanton from Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
If you love Christmas, time travel and a cute love story, then this is a must read. I give this book 5 stars. Has Hallmark thought about making this into a movie? Please do... :)
