At the Heart of Christmas is a good fit for readers who enjoy heartwarming stories about reviving family traditions, finding inspiration in unexpected places, and the challenges of balancing love and ambition.
Such a touching and inspiring story on so many levels. I love the family element as well as the romance. Although we always can predict what's going to happen in Hallmark stories, the setting of this one as well as the humor made it even more enjoyable.
Hiring him could be her best idea.
Or her worst mistake.
Quinn has inherited the farm and workshop that once housed the famous Hardwick Ornament Company. She invests everything in reopening her family’s business and hires glass artist Nolan Vesser, whose family used to design ornaments for hers, to work his creative magic.
After an accident burned Nolan’s studio to the ground, he thought he’d lost everything. But when he looked in his safety deposit box for his renter’s insurance, he came across an overlooked piece of paper that changed everything.
As Nolan spends time with Quinn, she sparks his artistic inspiration. But when she learns about his secret, can their new romance survive?
My thoughts:
This cute charming Christmas read was perfect. I was instantly hooked from the beginning. Quinn and Nolan are so cute together. The world that Jill Monroe created was magical
Thanks to Net Galley and Hallmark Publishing for an ARC.
A refreshing Christmas contemporary romance. Two families coming back together right where they should be. I really enjoyed it. I submerge myself in Christmas books and movies at this time of year and I'm always so happy when I find one that is not a copycat.
A true Hallmark gem! When Quinn inherits the family farm and the Hardwick Ornament Company, she decides to leave the big city to bring their family legacy back to life. She hires a glass blower, Nolan, who has more than just an interest in the ornament company. They have more than just business in common, their families have generational history. Family, love and heartfelt storyline are the makings of a beautiful Hallmark read!
Quinn Hardwick's grandpa has passed away and she has inherited the Hardwick Ornament Company. She is excited to bring it back to life and has sunk all her savings into material, supplies and renovations. When she hires glassblower and designer Nolan Vesser to make the ornaments for her, she is sure everything will work out. It was Nolan's great-grandfather who used to design for the company years ago. Nolan accepts the job as his workshop and apartment have been destroyed in a fire and he has nowhere to go. When he finds a paper signed by Quinn's and his great-grandad's he knows he is going to make a go of this company, but can he keep it a secret from Quinn?
I loved Quinn's character. She wants to bring her family's dream back to life and works hard to do just that. Nolan is a bit lost. He has lost the spark to design and it takes spending time with Quinn to bring that light back into his eye and heart. This book has everything I love about Christmas. There is a small town, helpful and nosy neighbours, a wonderful family who love to tease each other, Christmas events like tree lighting, sleigh rides and contests (Eggnog making in this one) and of course romance. No romance goes smoothly, so there is some angst that involves trust and forgiveness. Throw in some Christmas magic and you have a delightful Holiday Story. Just what I would expect from Hallmark.
Another fantastic book that has a Hallmark movie as well. I always love these and am happy to read light, happy stories. This goes along with that.
Jill Monroe is a masterful writer and this is the perfect romance for any Hallmark Christmas fan. Cozy and sweet, it hits all of the right notes!
This was a lovely story about tradition, craft, and love. I really enjoyed the story of Quinn and Nolan's journey to continue their families' legacy of making Christmas ornaments. This novel was very well written and researched to capture the detail and craftsmanship of glass blowing. You could imagine the care and attention the characters took, especially after Nolan's trauma, to design and create such delicate pieces of art. This was a slow burn romance where the couple truly got to know each other and appreciate what the other was going through and how hard they had to work to overcome their obstacles to meet their goals. And the lovely thing was that they had the same goal in mind--to craft special ornaments for families to enjoy year after year.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this novel for an honest review
At the Heart of Christmas, by Jill Monroe, is a delightful story set in the fictional small town of Bethany Springs, Massachusetts. Quinn Hardwick inherited the old family farm along with the defunct Hardwick Ornament Company when her beloved grandfather died. She is inspired to bring the company back to life. She sells her big city condo, resigns from her travel agent job, and moves to the farm. She is now on the old family homestead, close to her entire family. Quinn is moving towards her goal of restoring the family business.
Meanwhile, glass artist Nolan Vesser, has just experienced a severe setback when the building in which his business and apartment, along with other apartments and businesses, is destroyed by fire and Nolan is seriously injured while rescuing the neighbor boys’ dog. While looking for his insurance policy while recuperating with his sister, Katelyn, they discover a deed that had been given to their grandfather for ownership of Hardwick Ornament Company. When Nolan goes online to research the company he finds the new website created by Quinn’s Gram. He contacts Quinn who is thrilled to hear from an accomplished glass blower and one who has family roots with the company. As Nolan is at loose ends, he accepts Quinn’s offer of a job, puts the few belongings he has left into his truck, and makes the coast to coast trip from California to Massachusetts. Initially, Nolan makes no claims on the business.
As Quinn shares her hopes and dreams with Nolan, and as Nolan gets invested in her vision, he tells his attorney sister Katelyn to put the old deed away. But with the poor cell service, that is not what she hears and she files the deed before leaving on her Christmas ski trip, sending things awry.
This is a lovely story with a holiday focus, but the real message is about family closeness, pursuit of dreams, and finding someone who shares your vision of the future. I definitely enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!
If you only read one book this holiday season, make it this one! Two families lay claim to Hardwick Ornament Company and this touching story explores the love and pain that spring over the shared heritage. Highly recommend! I didn't want the story of Quinn and Nolan to end and would love a sequel!
A sweet contemporary romance that is fitting of the publisher. I know what I am getting when I read a holiday romance from Hallmark and I wasn't disappointed. It was an easy and delightful read.
A novel not only for Christmas
Jill Monroe, an international best-selling author, presents "At the Heart of Christmas" which was published by Hallmark Publishing. It takes place in Bethany, Massachusetts and talks about the Hardwick Ornament Company that meant everything to the Hardwicks and the Vessers. Quinn Hardwick is listed in her grandfather's will as the owner of the Hardwick Ornament company and wants to resurrect it. Nolan Veeser loses his apartment and his workshop in a fire but discovers a deed in a lockbox for the same company. While Quinn works to reestablish the company in Nolan's presence he keeps the secret . What will happen when it comes to light?
"At the Heart of Christmas" was the first book by Jill Monroe which I read. I really appreciated it and recommend it. The book is not only about Christmas but also about relationships, secrets, legacy, and forgiveness. It is a clean and wholesome novella with great characters and contains a good story line with some mystery included.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Heartwarming story that is perfect for your Christmas reading list. Wonderful characters portrayed through realistic dialogue. Excellent story progression with the just perfect ending that Christmas requires. I enjoyed it.
I enjoy the style of writing Jill Monroe has and haven't been disappointed by one of her books yet. This was such a cute book. I loved the characters and the story line flowed well. It was a great Christmas read.
I say this every time but I just absolutely love these books from Hallmark publishing. This book is about love and hope and finding what means most to you. Love this one so much!
Really enjoyed this book. I would most definitely recommend. Would like to read more by the same author, thank you Net galley for letting me read this book.
Sweet and beautiful story. Another Hallmark special story. Thank you for such a wonderful read. Hallmark produces some wonderful reads.
'At the Heart of Christmas' was a pure delight. It is wonderful to be reinforced in the belief that this world is full of good people and Jill Monroe does that for me with her beautiful prose evoking tender emotions. Quinn and Nolan both have real life problems that are overcome as they are shared. I didn't want this to end, and hope to have it continued with the other engaging characters in the book. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.
Love this story. Another great Hallmark romance. Inheritance of the Hardwick Ornament Company opens doors to the past for Quinn and for Nolan. Great story and enjoyable look at glass blowing too.
