Book 8 in the Darkness series, Sentinel of Darkness is a great shifter romance. Dragon shifter Dagen & Keva Sheehan are well developed, well suited characters and along with a novella length storyline this one kept me engrossed throughout. If you have not read this amazing series yet I suggest you get started

Sentinel of Darkness (Darkness #8) by Katie Reus ...Katie never disappoints....This is Keva (abused and almost kill by her wolf shifter boyfriend...she is saved by a dragon shifter who is the alpha) Dagen's ( was held captive by a witch shifter ) story. Thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview this book. There is laughter, drama, violence, steamy dragon sex that gets us to a very HEA. Looking forward to the next DARKNESS book.

I loved it. I loved Dagen so much. He was so sweet and protective and very understanding. I really hurt for both characters after what happened to both of them in the past. I loved Keva and how strong she was determined to be. This is the first book I read in this series but now I'm about to go back and start from the beginning.

While this may only be a novella sized offering don't be misled this packs more punch and storyline than some full length novels do Katie Reus is a master at the shown action packed character driven novella

What characters they are as well Dagen is the perfect hero he quiet and unassuming but rough and tough and when the chips are down you would definitely want him on your side. Keva is the perfect heroine she has had to become tough to survive but there is still a charming soft centre to her she may have been damaged by her past but she isn't letting it control her. When Dagen meets her he knows she is his mate but he is strong and sure of himself enough to give her the space she needs and to handle her in the way that he does shows just how much he cars but when someone threatens her he brings out the big guns. definitely a great fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed

This was a quick read, but as always Katie manages to fit a whole lot of story into a novella. Keva was feisty, Dagen, a true alpha male, but as soon as he realizes Keva is his true mate turns into an overprotective cream puff where she is concerned. That’s the thing with Katie’s men though, you as a reader are always envious of the women they set their hearts, sights and high libidos on!

This is book 8 in the Darkness series and can be read as a standalone but I recommend you read the previous books just so you know who some of the characters are and the relationships they have with each other. This one is about Keva and Dagen. Keva is a human who was saved by a dragon shifter from someone who was ready to kill her. And ever since that night she has stayed in clan territory where it will be safer for her. She has managed to make friends and have a business that keeps her happy. Dagen is a dragon shifter who has just joined the clan. And upon meeting Keva, he has already managed to insult her when that was never his intention. Especially when he believes her to be his mate. But when a former threat comes back into her life, he will do whatever he has to to make sure she is safe.

I loved this book! While this book is short, it drew me in and I couldn't put it down from the beginning! Keva has been through the ringer because of an ex and she still manages to come out healthy and while not quite whole, at least she knows her own issues. Dagen is the typical alpha male but as is typical with shifters of their mates, he will do anything and everything to make sure his is happy. And that includes leaving her be if she decides that she doesn't want to be mated to him. These two are adorable and explosive together. And the side characters, as always, make you love the book just that much more! Now I just need to see the twins find their mates!!

Sentinel of Darkness is a sweet and sexy dragon shifter novella. Keva survived an abusive relationship with a wolf shifter when a dragon incinerated her ex right before her eyes. Instead of fear, she felt nothing but gratitude and hugged the giant. Now under the protection of the dragon clan. Keva is a human artists inspired by the wings of the shifters in her life. Dagen is a sentinel dragon for the clan and handles business for the alpha. On their first meeting, Dagen knows she is his mate but puts his foot in his mouth in their business dealings. Both are badly burned by past experience and their relationship develops slowly even as danger reemerges from Keva's past. Sweet, funny, and action-packed, the pages flow quickly, and smoothly for a sweet HEA with some memorable characters the reader will want to revisit in the series. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

This was a quick, standalone read in the Darkness series that was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Even if you have no experience with this author, I would recommend picking this book up to check out what you are missing.

Keva was introduced to shifter at what became a very dark time in her life. Her boyfriend at the time came out to her as a shifter as just another way to control and manipulate her. After the abuse began escalating, she made a break for it and never looked back. Her savior, a dragon shifter, further introduced her to the world, but she’s been happy just to work on her art and focus on her business.

Dagen recently joined the dragons in Keva’s town and ends up putting himself in front of her in a rather unflattering way. Unfortunately/fortunately for them, Keva’s past comes back in a real way, forcing Dagen to protect her as only mates can. This book had a wonderfully fast-paced and completely engaging story that should not be missed! Oh, and there’s some good sexy times, too!

A big thank you to NetGalley and MR Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is book 8 in a series. It reads extremely well as a stand alone as I have not read them all. This is Keva and Dagen's story. It is relatively short, I think less than 100 pages. It is a cute, fun story with a hint of suspense. I think most paranormal romance readers will enjoy. I rate this a 4.

Keva has been hurt in the past by a shifter so she keeps to herself. She creates jewelry and other art works based mainly on dragons. It was a dragon who saved her years ago. When she meets Dagen, a dragon shifter, she is attracted to him but scared too. He realizes she is his mate and he must woo her. Great paranormal romance novella!

Its been a hot minute since I’ve read this series but it didn’t take me long to fall completely back into this work the author created. I really enjoyed Keva and Dagen, they worked well together and their story was sweet. We get glimpses of some of our favorites....I adore Arya and we see her here and it’s great. If you are a series lover this is a must read, if not go back to the start and fall in love with this eclectic group of paras and their mates.

When I read a novella, it's not always easy to find one that checks all the boxes like a full length book does and this one does. Holy cow, Dagen was amazing!

Dagen's the type of hero that is big, very tough, but also quiet. Sometimes I think the quiet tells you more about a person than anything else and I seem to be drawn to these types of heroes. Add to that, he was amazing with Keva. He recognized instantly that she was his mate. A mate he never thought he would find. Instead of resisting, he handled her with a care that just made me sigh with happiness.

Keva was also a great heroine. She resisted a bit due to her past, but it wasn't too much and it was also understandable seeing as she is human and a previous shifter had already used their strength against her. But what I loved most about her was that she paid attention and saw that Dagen was handling her with care that was completely sincere and she adjusted.

Having great main characters is great in itself, but when you also get great side characters and an exciting story, it really puts a book right to the top. I particularly love this clan of dragons, especially since Mira came out of hibernation. She's going to be one heck of a future main character.

I'm really looking forward to more in this series. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Honestly, you just can’t go wrong when you pick up a Katie Reus story, there is always plenty of action and adventure in addition to a hot romance. I loved the pairing in this story and how vulnerable Dagen made himself to his mate while maintaining his alpha status. I look forward to reading more books in this style from this author.

I have a love-hate relationship with paranormal romance but I have to conclude that for me novellas are the way to go.

Keva is a human, she was dating a wolf shifter who turned abusive and was only saved from potential death by a dragon shifter. Now years later she is coming under threat from her ex's family.

Dagen is a dragon shifter who has recently moved into the same dragon territory as Keva - as soon as he lays eyes on Keva he knows she is his mate, but their first encounter isn't auspicious.

This is a fun, engaging novella, it might be a tad predictable but then most paranormal romance is. Although this is the eighth book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone, I have only read one of the other books in the series.

Recommended if you want a shifter/ human romance with a protective dragon and a feisty artist.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I loved this one! This story was written in a way that was endearing and heartwarming. Katie Reus delivers another winner in this awesome dragon shifter series.

Dagen Hunter was everything! He was a protective male without being bossy. He was attentive and considerate and he COMMUNICATED very clearly. Wow. He actually shared what he was thinking and what he wanted with the object of his affection. Imagine that, an alpha male who growls and talks too!

"You make it hard to breathe...I don't think you realize what you mean to me Keva."

Keva Sheehan, a jewelry maker, lived in the Conall’s (dragon) territory after surviving an attack by her ex-boyfriend, a wolf shifter. While on business meeting for his alpha Conall, Dagen runs into Keva and immediately scents her as his mate. His dilemma became how to communicate to a skittish human that she was his mate despite her history of being brutalized by a werewolf shifter.

What I loved about the heroine was that she drew strength from her past of being abused. Keva had prepared mentally and physically for how she would react and defend herself if confronted by an attacker. She showed courage in the midst of her fear knowing that shifters are much stronger than humans. Dagen was just so cute and sweet. He showed that a dragon can be an alpha male without dictating or being aggressive. His honesty seemed almost childlike and made the trust develop quickly. He protected his mate and took care of her, and he gave her room to draw her own conclusions. Keva seemed to draw strength from his supportive stance and her confidence grew as the dragons subtly protected her and extended friendship her by letting her know things about their clan. Many of the past characters made appearances and Keva found camaraderie amongst even the most ancient of dragons. This story was cohesive and had a steady flow. It was everything I love about paranormal romances without being overly heavy. One of the best stories I’ve read all year.

Keva was an artist, human, but knew of the clan’s way, having lived among them. A love that may mean death for Dagen when her past is threatening to destroy her. He was insecure, until this now he will destroy anything human or dragon to protect her. It was a fun read, and interesting of how he went about it, Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
