Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

An interesting historical setting, with engaging characters and set against a lively background of horse racing (not something I'm really into, but the author made it interesting). Recommended.

This is the third book in the series, and with it set in the 1960's, it makes for an interesting read, because you keep on comparing the technology and investigation methods of today with the 60's. I enjoyed it thoroughly and hope there is some more in the series.

Enjoyed this book. Plenty of twists and turns and an enjoyable main character in Ruby. Being set against the racing world was interesting too.

Really enjoyed reading this thriller and would recommend it to anyone. It is set in the racing stables of famous horses and is about a murder and a missing horse, and Ruby who is a hairdresser, sets about solving it.

I thought the storyline was well thought out and written with engaging, realistic characters. I loved how wonderfully descriptive it was. It was a really good read and well worth the time. I loved it. And it left me wanting more.

This is the third in series and my first by this author.. I received a ARC for my personal opinion.

Set in 1960's Brighton, the two main characters are Ruby and her best friend Mary who work at Johnny's hairdressing salon and live above the salon together . One summer day they're excited about attending a horse race. They are shocked when a young woman is killed as she jumps in front of the racing horses. Or was she possibly pushed and murdered on purpose? Ruby is good at solving murders, and when asked to investigate by a grieving Brother she jumps right in.
This has strong characters and a exciting sleuth that was well plotted. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it for all who enjoy mysteries.

Ruby is a witness to a young woman dying. Did she kill herself or is there more to the story? When she starts delving deeper into the death what horrors will be uncovered? Why did Rita run in front of the horses, did someone push her into it or was something else responsible? Thanks NetGalley for allowing me to write about this.

Before I Trust You' by Daisy White is the third book in the Ruby Baker series. I just loved it. I found this book quick and a easy read.
Especially if you have not read the other two books, this is a good standalone, you will be able catch up quite quickly within the first few pages. But I do recommend to read the other two books especially as they are a quick and easy reads

This is the second book of Daisy's I have read (after Before I Found You).  Even though it is book three, this one can be read as a standalone as you catch up quite quickly with the back story whilst you are reading the first couple of pages.

This book is set in Brighton in the 1960's and, unlike some books I have read recently which were set in the past, this works really well with the characters and plot line.  If you like your murder mysteries without gore, sex and swearing then you will love this series.

There are so many twists in the story with more people going missing that you struggle who committed any of the murders, or if people actually were murdered or just ran away to hide.

I really liked how fast paced this was from the very beginning all the way through to the conclusion

The story takes place in 1960's Brighton and it does have that feel to it throughout.

I felt this storyline was good but that it had too many characters and side plots going on alongside that it seemed to overwhelm me.

I think that it would be better to read the first two books in the series so that the reader will have a clearer understanding of the characters and side stories.

When I first read the synopsis of this book I was really looking forward to reading this. Yet sadly I was disappointed with the story. Unfortunately I just could not gel with it.

Although this sounded like a book I needed to read , I felt the story did not grip as I expected. I have not finished this book as could not find myself interested or immersed in the storyline

So I’ve travelled back in time to 1965 for the latest in the Ruby Baker series! This time Ruby is asked to investigate the death of a girl called Rita Stonehill, who everyone thinks committed suicide by throwing herself into the path of a horse. But as Ruby digs further into the case, a prize winning race horse gets stolen, is there more to Rita’s death than she first believed?

This is the third in the series but can be easily read as a stand-alone but I’d recommend reading the first two for those people who want a better understanding of the characters and overall story arcs.

I really enjoyed the setting of the racecourse and the whole racing scene, it was so realistically done with great attention to detail, especially the opening scenes of the book, I could almost picture myself there in the crowd.

Ruby is the same headstrong, modern girl who has problems keeping her nose out of trouble that I loved from the first novel. She’s facing a few personal changes in this book. Firstly, her friend Mary is announces she’s going to get married, her and daughter Summer are about to move out of their little flat. Secondly, her relationship with reporter Kenny seems to be hotting up and add to that she hears from her mother for the first time in years! There’s a little surprise at the end that I can’t wait to see how Ruby deals with it in the next book!

Also I gave my name to one of the characters, keep your eyes peeled for girl by the name Lorna!

Before I Left is a thrilling whodunnit which combines historical details with a puzzling mystery that will keep you gripped from the first page.

This is the third in the series featuring hairdresser Ruby, her best friend Mary and their group of friends. Set in 1960's Brighton, this is a lovely book which could be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the books in order, that way you get a good feel for the recurring characters and their back stories.
The girls are still working at Johnny's hairdressing salon, living above the venue, now with Mary's baby Summer. When they go to the races, they are horrified by the death of a young girl, Rita, who has jumped in front of the racing horses. Or was she pushed? The police consider it a suicide. Ruby, who has looked into previous suspicious deaths, is approached by Rita's grieving youngest brother who begs her to investigate, He is absolutely sure it was murder.
Steeped in the racing world, the story is another good read; the loving friendship between Ruby and Mary is heartwarming, as is the close group of friends' tight bond. The setting of Brighton in the 1960's makes me nostalgic and I appreciate the gentle approach to violence. Ruby is a strong young woman who doggedly pursues her cases, despite putting her life at risk. I hope that at some point she'll join the police force! In the meantime, her life seems to be in for a change when her younger sister appears. Can't wait to what's in store for her...Highly recommended.

'Before I Trust You' is the third book in the Ruby Baker series, and although the mystery was a thoroughly entertaining one, I found that I was lacking some vital background information about the characters. This is probably due to the fact that I haven't had the pleasure of reading the previous two. With all of that in mind, I don't feel it worked satisfactorily and would advise potential readers to begin at the start.

In particular, I wanted to know more about Ruby and Mary and their dynamic. Their friendship warms the cockles of my heart as they can both be relied upon to be there when the other needs them. Set in the 1960s Brighton, this is an atmospheric novel with an authentic classic crime feel to it which I loved. I have to say that the story very much reminded me of the suffragette Emily Davison who died after throwing herself in front of the King's horse at Epsom in 1913. Perhaps this is some sort of homage to her and the achievements of the movement. Those who appreciate clean stories should enjoy this as it has minimal violence, swearing, sex and gore. Engaging from first page to last, this is a great read.

What a great series this has been! Although 3rd in the series, it reads well as a stand alone. I highly recommend starting at the beginning. Ruby and Mary have had some awesome adventures .. some more deadly than others. They and their friends are great characters.

This one grabs you from the very first page and doesn't let go until the very surprising end.
