It took a long time for me to finish this book.
It was interesting, but very slow moving.
Although it sometimes felt like a chore to keep going, I did want to know how it ended.
I was glad I took the time to finish it.

I could finish this book. I’m sure rich people have problems but why do I care. If the women you think are your friends treat you like that get new friends. Make your daughter get a job that makes money. You’re done raising her. Kick your husband’s butt out. How could he lose that much money and you not know. Shame. I love to read about the way rich people live and I’d like to have some of their perks but not this stories take on all this.

This is the type of book that would normally be right up my alley, this one wasn't though. I just didn't feel invested enough in the characters. Maybe I just needed a little more warmth from them? I'm not sure. Not my favorite. Maybe it will be someone else's though. Thanks for the opportunity to read it.

The story of a Pam Beach Wife who loses her standing and fortune etc was just too cold for me. The characters seemed so wooden and I had no compassion for any of them. Yhe storyline was well thought out, but I think needed a little more warmth.

Palm Beach wives must maintain a certain standard to belong. You need to dress a certain way, chair important events, donate money to causes that matter. In addition, your life must appear to be perfect. Faith has managed to raise her perfect daughter Katharine and maintain her marriage to her perfect husband, Edward. All of a sudden everything starts to unravel. Faith finds that she has hidden stores of strength, possibly as a result of the secrets she has been hiding for years. Will she be able to maintain her perfect life in the face of her husband's bad decisions? Will her own bad decisions come back to haunt her?

Faith and Edward Harrison seem to have it all and are the envy of their peers. However all is not as it seems.
Howard is a hedge fund manager and Faith owns a resale shop.

Howard is anxious to leave a ball that faith is the chair of, and he tells her that they are broke. He has lost 30 million dollars due to bad investments. He's borrowed against his interests in the company and borrowed money from his partner. He no longer has a job, after having been let go.
He wants faith to sell their house and put her business up as collateral for the capital needed for the creditors..

Faith refuses to use her shop which is wise since its in her name and she's able to raise funds for the creditors. by selling a lot of her personal items and increasing the sale price of her inventory, A friend, Mrs A gives Faith several items to sell with no commission ( straight sale). She advises faith to find money and keep it hidden from Edward.

They have less than a month to get as much cash as they can against the creditors.

Edward starts using cocaine again and faith says she'll leave him.

A friend of their daughter Katherine comes to work at faith's shop and she tells Faith that her mother gave her a letter when she was dying telling her she was adopted and who her birth mother was.
She tells Faith she is the daughter faith gave up at 16.

Mrs A tells Faith hat people are talking about Edward-that he's resigning from charity board whenever a check is due.. She tells Faith she must protect herself and to contact a divorce lawyer.

Faith gets Edward committed for treatment nd she puts their houses up for sale.
After the sale of their homes Faith is still 5 million dollars short with 9 days to go until she has to meet with the creditors.

Edward finishes his treatment and is released. He and faith start their lives anew with much simpler surroundings and suddenly he passes away (his heart has been damaged by his drug use)

Thank you Net Galley and St. Martin's Press for an early release of this book, it was Very disappointing. Too many designer names, the last page was like" What was the reason that happened" and then no explanation. It started out like it could have been WOW but it wasn't.

Thank you St. Martin's Press and Net Galley for an early copy of A Palm Beach Wife. This started as a drop in my belly feeling like WOW because I felt for Faith right away but then something happened, it was tiring to read with all the designer names and the other main story that came about. The last page was absolutely disappointing, so unexpected and unnecessary, what exactly happened? I was not happy with the book.

In Palm Beach, image is everything and no one knows this more than Faith. Having moved to Palm Beach at a young age, Faith has built a life around becoming a perfect member of high society and the perfect wife and mother. But what happens when the life she built is suddenly flipped upside down? Will she do what is best for her family or what is best for her image?

Here's what I liked about this story: When you take away all the glitz and glamour, Faith is a strong woman. She survived plenty of heartbreak when she was quite young. She is owner of a successful business. And even though she has an addict husband who makes the life she built a living hell throughout the plot, she walks with grace and with her head held high. She takes the punches as they come and instead of pointing blame or running away, Faith attempts to fix her issues. I also love how she is the protector of her family.

With all that said, the story itself was too much. There was too much glitz and glamour. There was too much name dropping. Most of the characters are quite shallow and/or hard to find personable. But most of that could probably be overlooked except for the fact that the ending falls so flat....so so flat. For Faith to go through and do everything to make life for her and her family great again, for Faith to get that kind of ending, it feels as if she and the reader were robbed. There needs to be some type of epilogue or maybe just more to the ending than what was given.

An excellent, light read for escape, for a visit to a sparkly lifestyle, lavish lifestyle, high fashion, beautiful people and the competition inherent in their world. Faith faces a shock of status, bending proportions and endeavors to rescue her life and marriage. I thank Net Galley for providing me with a review copy of this book, and I'm grateful to have had the chance to read Susannah Marren's work. The story flows along nicely, and we skirt cliché impressively well. I'm a fashion person, so I enjoyed the over-the-top name-dropping that is so inherent in Faith's world. Delicious, a fun romp, a welcome respite from too-heavy literature (and the news cycle!) I recommend this one. Maybe not enough weight for a book club, but certainly, and without a doubt, for a chat with a book-loving friend who likes dreaming about 'the good life'...and thinking about all the facets of it. Well done, Ms. Marren.

A Palm Beach Wife is perfect for fans of Elin Hildebrand. Faith has it all, perfect husband and the perfect social standing in Palm Beach. Until they lose all their money and it all comes crashing down. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for my honest review

A Palm Beach Wife is the first book I have read by Susannah Marren. It was very hard for me to get into this book. It started very slow. I kept reading thinking it would get better.

I loved the premise, but the execution fell flat. The plot was choppy, while the characters were generally entitled and unlikable. Just not my cup of tea overall!

So fun to be allowed in close and personal to a life I will never have! No financial worries, full staffs, being able to dedicate so much time and money to charity and to have a standing golf/tennis game is a luxury most wont experience. But wait... the stress to keep up appearances, friends who aren’t really friends, constant gossip and judgement and a worth that is only equal to your bank account. Nothing feels genuine and none would be allowed to throw in a pair of yoga pants, put your hair up and run a few errands. Everything last aspect of your life is based on others expectations and keeping up appearances. The story was not all fluff, however. It was completely refreshing to see Faith not wallow in self pity but to clearly assess her changing situation and determine a solution regardless of what her social standing would require. She showed grit and no self pity. The irony of having a resale shop for these women who can afford anything they want and aspire to outdress and outshine each other is rich! There are many books out there showcasing the life of the rich and famous but this book raised the bar by having real life solutions that we all could identify with. Expertly written! I reviewed this as an ARC. Publication date is April 9 and available for preorder! #netgalley #stmartinspress #susannahmarren

I wanted so badly to love this book. I was intrigued when I saw the cover and I have to admit it is what drew me in. The story was well written but fell flat for me. I tried hard to finish the book and almost got there but ended up having to put it down. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Palm Beach socialite Faith is at a high society gala when her husband whispers in her ear “The money is gone”. They are flat broke after some bad investments and Faith is desperate to keep it under wraps and keep her social standing. Faith has fought hard to get this life and she will fight hard to keep it. This novel is rich in fashion names and behind-the-curtain peeks into high society. Truthfully, I’m not sure I was the intended audience for this book as I’m not a fashion maven. I found the writing dry and stilted, very surface and lacking any depth. For me, A Palm Beach Wife was ⭐️⭐️/5 stars. Thank you to the publisher for this advance reader in exchange for my honest review.

A Palm Beach Wife is really the story of a woman whose lifestyle is threatened by her husband's bad choices. She learns her true strength by picking up after the mess he has made. There are some great parts of this book. I love her relationship with her best friend, Eve, and the way that Faith (our protagonist), runs her business and maintains the social side of her lifestyle. I think a lot of stories that focus on wealthy lifestyles portray all women as being housewives with a cleaning staff and no ambition, so I appreciated that Faith had a thriving business.

Unfortunately, that's really where my appreciation of the novel ends. My biggest complaint in the novel is the general flow of the book. The transitions between scenes were clunky and I felt like I was re-reading sections a lot to figure out how I got from there to here. I would have liked to see a few of the characters get more developed and less characters as a whole. I like to feel like I 'know' the characters in a story, and I didn't really get that feeling from anyone but Faith. Lastly, the ending was disappointing, and I felt like it kept in line with the clunky transitions,

I think this book had some great potential, but it lacked some of the fun that we can usually find in our 'how the other half lives' stories.

A Palm Beach Wife introduces readers to the world of spoiled society members whose biggest challenge is how to gossip about each other. Faith has been a member for over twenty years when one night, at a gala event, her husband tells her he has lost it all and owes thirty million dollars. She scrambles to come up with the money owed while he begins drinking and using drugs again. She manages to pay off most of the debt and release an old secret of her own, and find a fresh start. The ending is abrupt and ironic. Personally, I did not care for this book, I had no sympathy for rich, pampered characters who lived beyond their means and now had to join the ranks of the hoi polloi.
