I posted my review years ago when I originally got this ARC, but apparently didn't update here. I loved this book. The characters were amazing and the story enthralling. This was my first book with a LGBTQ+ main character and it was a great introduction.
Book: Read in one sitting
My Brain: Obsessed
My Heart: Melted
I could tell half way through this that it'd be a favorite that I could re again and again.
Loved the writing it was super engaging and super witty, the characters were relatable and easy to root for including the side character. Will definitely be recommending this
This book was an absolute freaking delight to read. As someone who grew up in the early 2000s, this book really scratched an itch for media about presidential children and life as a royal. It gives serious My Date With the President's Daughter, Chasing Liberty, and Princess Diaries vibes, while also being saucy, queer, and affirming. I squealed "are you KIDDING me" so many times while reading because it was just that lovely, adorable, and funny. I highly recommend this book to pretty much everyone. All the love.
amazing debut and wonderful execution with great quotes and character as well as the queer experience on a public level
I tried really hard to get into this book and it's completely possible it was just my mindset at the time. I can see myself enjoying Red, White & Royal Blue at a later date but right now, it just wasn't for me. I've heard great things about this book.
A heartfelt and wholesome romance. I adored the main characters and loved the alternate reality. Excellent.
This novel is heart-warming, page-turning, and completely relevant. I love how a female president is portrayed as normal and that a gay relationship is celebrated. This novel is beautiful!
Flirty and fun! Recommended for romance fans! I ended up recommending Red, White and Royal Blue to other librarians as well as patrons --- it's a fast read and a satisfying story.
I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not a huge fan of third person perspectives. It always makes me feel removed from the story, and it's hard for me to become completely lost in the narrative. That being said, I did enjoy this story, and I loved the romance between Alex and Henry. It's a sweet, entertaining read, with a captivating romance. I think a first person POV from both characters would've made this perfect, but overall, I still loved it.
Red, White, and Royal Blue was such a hyped up book that I was worried it would disappoint. I was so wrong. This book is absolutely so sweet! If there are two things I love in a story, it’s fictionalized politics/elections and royalty. And a female president? Yes, please! This book is just special. It’s full of witty banter and swoon worthy moments. I loved it.
This was such a cute, funny, and emotional book! An English prince and the first son of the President of the United States are in a huge feud...or are they? I loved this book SO much and especially loved that it centered around the LGBTQ+ community.
As love stories go, this book would be a solid 5 stars due to its originality, character development, and ability to really pull you in. So, why not give it full marks? Unfortunately, Casey McQuiston was unable to get over cheap, polarizing personal politics and it ruined the experience when it was completely unnecessary. In fact, it completely went against the incredible characters that were created which was truly saddening. It was disruptive enough that I would have given the story 3* so I allowed it to balance at 4*. Honestly, I may be a little harsh because of the instances of personal Party b.s. hadn’t been thrown in (or had been edited out) this would have been a truly incredible story that transcended race and American party lines to tell a uniquely inspiring story that touched on many issues that I believe people from a multitude of walks of life could have identified with and had truly enlightening and deep discussions about.
Thank you to NetGalley, Casey McQuiston, and St. Martin’s Griffin for allowing me this opportunity to read and share my honest thoughts and opinions regarding this book.
Thank you so much for the copy of this book - It definitely lives up to the hype!
I am sorry for not reviewing fully but I don’t have the time to fully review at the moment. I believe that it wouldn't benefit you as a publisher or your book if I only skimmed it and wrote a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for not fully reviewing!
Casey McQuiston is one of the best authors at the moment. Future queer literature needs to take notes. I think it’s impossible to not love this book
McQuiston is an incredible voice in romance. I flipping adored the prince's antics and it was really fun to hear about their best friends. I have recommended this to countless people and ordered several copies for friends.
This book was adorable and when I say that it doesn't mean great. This book was adorable in a way that was a little too cutesy and sugary at times. I think if you're at the beach and wish to breeze through a read then this is right up your alley, but if you're looking for substance then I wouldn't pick this one up.
Oh how I loved this book. It was like the taste of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Just yummy goodness from start to finish. Romance isn't generally my go to genre, but occasionally I'll stumble across one that just speaks to my soul, and this is that book.
This book is charming and witty - and very prescient. The central romance was very sweeping and gorgeous, and the characters were likeable.
I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was the perfect book to wrap up the 2020 year, especially a year that's hyper-focused on elections. I loved the romance and the political side plot, and the ending was wrapped up perfectly. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
