A very fun and sexy romp - I read this more or less in a single sitting and enjoyed it way, way more than I thought I would.
This book is a masterpiece bursting with passion and wit! It will make you feel all the emotions. It's so entertaining, smart and hilarious. Such an endearing debut. I cannot sing high enough praises.
I wanted to read this book and really enjoyed the romance between the american son and the english boy. I enjoyed the family. Overall this book lived up to the hype. Loved it.
Far too long, this story would have been so much better if it had been edited properly and cut in half. Far too long for what it was. Having said that the overall story was interesting and the main characters sweet.
Just not one for me.
The publisher, St. Martin's Press, kindly offered me a reader copy (RC) of Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston via NetGalley. Yet, this is an honest review of the book expressing my humble opinion.
After recently receiving 2 Goodreads Awards and enormous praise from the community, I had high expectations from this book, and I am deliriously happy that the book surpassed those.
The main character is a biracial Mexican-American, and we have a diverse, inclusive cast ensemble with great representation of queer people and people of color. The main romance couldn't possibly be more adorable and sexy than it was.
I have no more words except to say that I'm going to re-read this gem a million times and then some. Amazing novel and a great example of inclusive and excellent representation. We desperately need more of these books.

This book definitely lived up to the hype!
I loved this parallel universe with a queer romance between a prince and a first son. They were such a cute couple! It really didn’t feel that far off from the future. Things are changing everyday, and I can imagine these kinds of changes in these historical institutions. However, it was heartbreaking that these two boys, who were perfect for each other, could have been kept apart because of some people’s prejudice.
Some of the parts were predictable, but that’s what I loved about the story. I could tell that Alex and Henry would get together, because of the tension between them. I also predicted that they would be caught in some way because that was the danger of their relationship becoming public.
I’m so glad I read this story! I loved it!
Thank you St. Martin’s Press for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
*sigh* I devoured this book. I like to think of this as the LGBT "The Royal We" with a heavy-handed sprinkling of American politics thrown in for fun.
One of my favorite books I've read this year!
Not my sort of book, this ended up being way too cringe worthy for me, the British stereotypes put me WAY off this book. i'm really disappointed since I was looking forward to it so much!
This is a great romance! I love royal romances and this book is a refreshing twist on royal romances. I love the main characters. I love the setting. I love the dialogue. This was a fun romance and I will be recommending it to everyone!
Eugh, this is so cuuuttttte. Like, can we please get a beautifully done Netflix movie of this? Or maybe not, because they might butcher it. But I want a good one, it's that's cute.
This is not the kind of book I normally read but the hype really is real and I actually enjoyed it a lot. It was a mix of cute, sad & just downright funny. I'd definitely pick up a sequel if ever there were one!
Red, White & Royal Blue was an absolute DELIGHT! One of the most buzzed about books of the summer was totally deserving of every bit of hype it received. While I wish it was just a smidge shorter, I ultimately found myself beginning - and ending - this 420+ page novel in a single sitting.
Red, White & Royal Blue was different from any other book I've read. I liked the premise of the story. The son of the first woman, Hispanic president of the US and a royal from England. I thought it was a cute story. I will say that even though I think of myself as open to all lifestyles, it was uncomfortable to read about the detailed sexual experiences between the two men. Overall, a fun story that I would recommend to others.
I wasn't able to download the title prior to it being archived, but I ended up checking it out at my library. I enjoyed reading Red, White & Royal Blue so much!
Hello book, you are my new favorite!
Utterly enchanting, Red White & Royal Blue is the world I wish were true.
Alas, Alex and Henry are fictional, but they will soon become characters of your heart. I just adored every line of this book, every messy character, every pop-culture reference. I highlighted the heck out of my ARC copy and can't wait to get my hands on a finished one.
I'll try to form a better review closer to the publication date, but here is the blurb I submitted to the LibraryReads campaign:
An utterly delightful romance chock full of witty banter, queer characters, and deliciously explicit scenes. Don't let the cartoon cover fool you, Prince Henry of Wales and First Son Alex Claremont-Diaz will charm your pants off. A perfect choice for those waiting for the sequel to The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan!
Second read July 26-Aug 2, 2019 AUDIOBOOK
Just as charming as my second time around, although I noticed the sort of awkwardly faded to black sex scenes a lot more. There were so many "d*cks" flying from the mouths of these characters yet to never have their body parts named during sex was a bit...odd? BUT that said I'm enchanted by Alex and Henry and all of the cast of secondary characters (MORE NORA AND JUNE PLEASE) and just love this story so much
Red, White, and Royal Blue is a queer love story that new adult readers have been needing. A story of royalty and political intrigue, Red, White and Royal Blue will make you smile and fill you with warm and gooey goodness. Alex and Prince Henry have a love story for the ages and this book will remain one of the most loved contemporary queer love stories.
I loved that this book features a bisexual main character. It also dives into complicated family relationships and the weight of familial expectations. This book explored coming out, falling in love for the first time, and finding complete joy in someone else.
This book is an exceptional recommendation for older teens, new adults, and longtime fans of the romance genre.
So, this was good. It didn't speak to me in the same way I've seen it hitting for others, but I also feel like I may have read it at a less-than-ideal time. On my to be re-read list!
Red, White, and Royal Blue was such a cute book! As someone that does not read or typically enjoy contemporary, I took a chance on this book as I was hearing so many good things about it from many other readers in the community. At first I was hesitant, but once I really got into reading, I didn't want to stop! The relationship was so adorable and I loved the banter between the two of them. The writing was cute and fluffy, as expected from a contemporary book, but I actually really enjoyed reading something cute and fluffy for once. All of the hype around this book is warranted and I would absolutely recommend this if you're looking for a contemporary to devour in a day or two!
First son of the United States, Alex, has some fixing to do after he and Prince Henry of Wales cause an incident at a royal wedding. After a couple press appearances to try to convince the world that they’re friends, they actually become friends and fall in love.
I loved every word of Red, White, and Royal Blue. It was such a great feel good story. It’s a love story that’s equal parts sweet and sexy that you won’t be able to put down.
I wanted something a little different. A step back from everything else I’d been reading. This wasn’t it. While everyone else is raving about this book, I’m scratching my head. Sure there is a romance element and it’s MM, but there are so many political references I thought I was reading a history book. It was confusing. It completely took me out of the story. And don’t get me started on the writing style.
Honestly everyone wants the fairytale. I wanted the fairytale for Alex and Henry. However, I don’t want to have to wade through someone’s political viewpoint and bashing of the other side, regardless of whether or not I agree with it, to get there. Because what was this? A romance or a political statement?
